April Goal Rewind and May Goals

Late again, I know I know. I apologize. Ten days is a lot, but I just got home on Wednesday night.

One of many photos from our trip. We had a blast!

Before we dive into my goals for the (remainder) of the month of May, let’s look at my April goals and see how I did:

1.) Stretch: (F…) Oh boy…this is not a good habit I have fallen into and my IT bands are letting me know. They have been super tight the past few weeks. This one will have to appear again…

2.) Cross train twice a week: (A+) Thanks to #Crosstrainorremainthesame I completed this one! (Also a huge thanks to those who completed the challenge!)

3.) Cut back on the sweets: (C+) This one is tricky because I did a decent job before our trip but on our trip..not so much. However the trip only fell the last week of the month so that counts for something.

4.) Run two more races: (B-) I am giving myself a B because I was so close on this one. I ran the Zombie run in April, and on the cruise on MAY 1, I ran the Castaway Cay 5k. So I missed it by a day but still a good solid effort.

Ok, the past is the past, let’s move on to May:

1.) Build my running base back up to at least 7-8 miles: I took a break from distance after the Princess half and honestly have lost a LOT of my distance fitness. Time to rebuild!

2.) Cook a new recipe: You know how it gets…same out rotation of same foods because well…it’s easy.

3.) Back up my photos: My laptop has been finicky lately and I don’t want it to die and not have backed up my photos. This truly scares the mess out of me.

4.) Stretch: enough staid

QOTD: Do you have any goals for May? Did you accomplish an April goal?

  1. Stretching is a hard thing for me to do, too, right after I work out. All I want to do is shower and eat. I did accomplish my main April goal–finish a marathon. My May goals are to clean up my diet and to build my base mileage back up after taking a few recovery weeks after the marathon.

  2. awesome! We need sweets rehab together it seems lol

  3. Great goals Heather! Can’t wait to hear all about your trip and see all the amazing photos I know you took! 😉

  4. I’m trying to take care of my body more. I made an appointment to get a massage next weekend, and it’s been 9 years since my last one. I’ve put my body through a lot during those 9 years.

  5. I need to use my foam roller more. It was an April goal and is now a May goal and I’m still not doing so well with it 🙂

I also want to increase my mileage.

  6. You have to stretch! I’m going to keep yelling at you 😉 I think you def did two races in April. It’s one of the shortest months so if there were 31 days in it you would have met your goal ha!

  7. I’m taking it easy with my goals this month and just trying to stick to my marathon training plan. It’s been hard to while traveling!

  8. My April goal was to beat my 5k PR and I did as a bday gift to myself. 🙂 My May goals are to stretch and incorporate more strength training into my routine. You reminded me that it’s been a while since I backed up my photos. Thanks! 🙂

  9. Guilty as charged! I don’t stretch either. Mostly because I’m not sure how I’m supposed to do it.

  10. I need to start building up my long distance mileage again too! Planning on my first run over 5 miles in a couple of months this weekend!

Also I posted a few really easy IT band stretches recently if you’re interested:

  11. Working towards my competition on June 1! 🙂

I’m with you on the stretching!

  12. Back up photos. We must be on the same wavelength. I just bought a terabyte external drive on Amazon this morning to dump all my photos onto. My laptop has been acting like it has a hangover as well. Amazing how many photos we take as bloggers. More photos than the first child even gets really.
