Weekly Recap: May Week 3

Happy Sunday! So this week was less than stellar in the workout category. Food poisoning will do that to you. I got sick last Friday May 11, and was down for the count for several days. I didn’t feel “normal” until Thursday. Below is how my week looked:

Sunday-Wednesday: nothing

Thursday: ten minute walk

Friday: 2 mile run/walk

Saturday: rest

—————-

Not exactly an ideal workout week (again) but really, literally…what can you do wen you are puking your guts out? Not much, trust me. The good news is I feel great now and while I still plan to take it slow and at a lower intensity, I’m looking forward to more workouts this week, including a “real” run.

My Race Ragz Review and Giveaway

Good morning! I am starting to rejoin the land of the living. Still not 100% well but getting better by the day. I am a bit frustrated because I know I am losing fitness since I only worked out twice on my 10 day trip then throw in food poisoning, but what can you do? At least I wasn’t training for anything.

Today I have a fun giveaway I have been meaning to post for awhile. I am sure you have heard of My Race Ragz and their awesome personalized, custom printed workout shirts. I was given the privilege to test out their product and also offer one as a giveaway to a RWS reader. I of course decided to get a shirt with the RWS logo on the front, and went for some writing on the back. I went with a white tank top since I hate running in sleeves and it’s so hot here.

The shirt was super easy to order, and I loved how cool the website was. There are SO SO SO many options, or you can upload your own image for your shirt. I loved playing around with all the different colors, shirts, and fonts. The shirt was shipped quickly and fits me perfectly, and is super comfortable. It keeps me cool when I am running which is something very important to me as well. If you are looking for a custom running shirt I highly recommend these guys! (Find them on Facebook and Twitter as well).

Now, how can you win one of these great shirts for yourself? There are two ways:

1.) Leave me a comment telling me what you would put on your shirt if you won. A favorite mantra? design? (check out all the options on their site)

2.) Tweet the following: I want to win a custom printed shirt from @MyRaceRagz via @runningwithsass http://runningwithsass.com/my-race-ragz-review-and-giveaway and LEAVE A SEPARATE COMMENT letting me know you tweeted.

That’s it! You have until Saturday at 8:00 pm CST to enter and I will announce a winner on Sunday’s blog post. Good luck!

1.) How/Why did you start blogging?

Initially I started blogging in 2006 as a way to keep family members, like my grandma and grandpa from out-of-state, up-to-date on what we were doing. It was just another form of communication.  As time went on I began to document my running journey/challenges.  Now I also see it as my own personal outlet.  It holds me accountable and is a place I can share my journey with those that are interested.

2.) Sum up your blog in a couple sentences.

BananaBuzzbomb is about a me, a 28 year old vegan triathlete, learning about myself and about life.  Specifically, I’m learning to simplify, to take care of my body to the best of my ability, and to detoxify my surroundings.  I’m learning to focus on the journey and not the destination.

3.) What do you wish to accomplish/achieve by blogging?

I like that I can easily have a friendly reminder of how far I’ve come just by simply clicking back into my archives.  I also love that people from the blogging community that = become my friends.  I have gained more knowledge, insight, and support than I ever dreamed possible. It is also my hope that maybe someone, even if only one person, may learn something through my through my challenges and successes.

4.)What is your biggest healthy living accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment or challenge I’ve overcome would be running.  I couldn’t run if my life depended on it.  Now I can say I’ve finished many 5Ks, a Half Marathon, and a Sprint Triathlon.  I’m currently training for my next Half Marathon and my first Half Ironman Distance REV3 Triathlon.

Thanks so much Heidi!

*check it out, I was featured on a friend’s blog yesterday! 4 Real Featured Blogger: Heather

Weekly recap and Giveaway Winner

Good morning! Yesterday was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. Not a cloud in the sky, low 70’s. It was perfect. Well, perfect for walking, laying out, etc. NOT perfect for running. it was a bit too warm on our six miles and I got a little overheated. After we ran, we lifted weights at the YMCA then did some yard work. (Cutting back bushes, cutting grass, raking leaves.) We also took the dogs for a walk and sat outside in the sun with them. Quite the productive morning!

QOTD: What is the “perfect” running temperature to you?

Ultra Immune Giveaway

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by the folks at Ultra Immune about doing a review and giveaway of there product. I was intrigued as I have been seeing ads for it all over the place. Plus, with the weather here going from hot to cold, I usually get pretty sick this time of year. Very willing to try an herbal supplement to boost my immune system, I was on board! Not to mention…a RWS reader will win a two month supply for themselves! ($72 value!)

First, what is Ultra Immune?

Ultra Immune is an herbal supplement designed to support the natural function of your immune system…..

“Ultra Immune combines the best in Eastern and Western philosophies, crosses centuries of practical use and focuses exclusively on well-researched and regarded herbal and botanical extracts.

In addition to combining ten select ingredients, we also work hard to ensure that the original sources and suppliers of those ingredients follow best practices (including sustainability) and deliver the highest quality possible.”

2012-01-06170951

The basics:

  • Strengthen Immune System.
  • Safe for Continuous Use.
  • 100% All Natural. Vegan.
  • 10 Compelling Ingredients.
  • Gluten & Preservative Free
  • Minty flavor

My personal review:

In the mornings before I eat anything, I put a dropper full under my tongue. The flavor is fine, and it’s easy to take. We will see how I do over an extended period, but so far, no sickness and I feel great! A lot of supplements are not safe to take for extended periods of time, but I like that this one is. As an athlete, a strong immune system is very important to me, especially this time of year. I think a product such as this is great for anyone busy and on the go, and I am happy with the results so far.
