February 2014 Disney Trip Recap Part 1

It has taken me a month to get around to this, but it was fun looking back on my pictures and remembering our trip!

We arrived on Thursday. We flew this time which was really nice, and took Disney’s Magical Express to our hotel, the Boardwalk Inn.

disney1

We were staying in a beautiful Deluxe room (huge room with club level access) and we had plenty of room to all four spread out our things.

IMG_7685

(this picture is actually from a different trip, but same room layout)

I was starving and getting nauseated because of it, so we walked down to the Boardwalk Bakery and grabbed some lunch. It was a beautiful day to eat outside.

disney2

Our luggage arrived after lunch, and we headed to the race expo to pick up our packets and bibs.

Beautiful flowers my friend sent me congratulating me on my pregnancy. I couldn’t share before because I hadn’t announced it yet!

After the expo, we had dinner at Flying Fish, which was basically right below our room. It was nice not having to actually go anywhere after a day of travel. After dinner we watched a magician from our balcony.

The next day was the Royal Family 5k. We were up at 4:00, ran the race, came back for breakfast, then headed to Hollywood Studios. I had to BEG Bobby and my dad to wear their shirts and medals. They were not happy with me and my dad kept trying to hide and ditch his medal every chance he got. He kept saying there were no other men wearing the pink Cinderella medal, and when we finally found one we went up to him and thanked him! My dad’s reply was that he must have been a plant put there just for us to see. Haha.

We used our fastpasses and did a few things, and I started getting SUPER sleepy. I knew I was doing too much and needed a nap, but we didn’t have lunch reservations until 1:00! We tried to get seated earlier but they were slammed, so we sat outside on a bench waiting for our name to be called and I fell asleep on Bobby.

When we were seated, I wanted to lay down and fall asleep at the table. I felt so bad being such a bump on a log, but there was nothing I could do. Dad had fun coloring the kids menu I had asked for.

dad prime time

We went back to the hotel where I promptly fell asleep for two hours. We had no dining reservations that night, so we hung out at the hotel and just relaxed.

The next morning Mom and I ran the Enchanted 10k, and took the bus to the Swan then walked back to the hotel. I didn’t realize the race would still be going on by time we got back, so we stopped and cheered a bit on our way up to our room. Then when we made it upstairs I was able to cheer from the balcony, and even watch the last person go by, everyone was cheering it was really sweet.

10k end

We were supposed to go to EPCOT right after breakfast, but I was falling asleep eating breakfast, so I told mom and dad to go ahead and I slept for 2.5 hours. Bobby and I met them in EPCOT for a great lunch at Via Napoli though. After lunch, I went back to the room and took ANOTHER nap. (Yall, I just can’t explain it. I couldn’t keep my eyes open!) and then we had a great dinner with our friends Karen and Jason and Karen’s parents at one of our favorite’s Trails End buffet (she has all the pictures, sorry!) I am so glad I took two naps because we were still at dinner past 8:00, way past this pregnant lady’s bedtime for when I have to get up at 2:45! It was fun though.

Up next time….the 2nd and last part of our trip, two full days to go!

QOTD: When you runDisney do you nap after races or go to the parks? What about any race, do you nap after?

#DisneySportsFestival Day 2 Part 1

I blogged last week about the Sunday night we spent at the Disney Sports Festival. Since I have already written a post about the sports complex in general, I am going to instead tell you a little about my day and highlight things that I didn’t mention or go into detail about in my previous post.

disney sports festival

Monday was our first official full day, and it started bright and early at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. We were there for a tour which was led by a friend of mine, Carissa!

DSC_3863

We were welcomed to the complex, were fed breakfast, and then heard a little bit from some important people in Disney sports. Recognize anyone?

DSC_3923

DSC_3959

It was a great way to open things up and start our day at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, but of course we had to get pictures with the main man, Mickey!

This next picture of me and Jen totally cracks me up. We are just discussing some Fantasy Football picks. Raise your hand if you would watch a sports show with me and Jen as hosts!!! No? Come on!

ESPN

We started our tour and were shown some parts of the complex I had never seen before. This Office Max business center was way cool. it had phone charging stations as well as signs and fans you could write on with sharpies to cheer on your team!

DSC_4084

We also got to see a really neat thing that you can do at the sports complex, and that is make customized shirts. You pick a sport, and can have a wide range of things put on the back and sleeves of the shirts. I was stoked when I learned we got to make shirts of our own! I put my Twitter handle on the back, of course.

DSC_4123

Looking through the book of logos.

DSC_4165

After picking out our shirts we were brought down to a place where we saw some green screens. I have seen these before and was interested in learning about how a team can have their photo made together, or even put their super stars on the cover of ESPN magazine!

DSC_4250

Again, I loved the interaction. Not only were we TOLD about how this process works, but we were given the opportunity to join in the fun. Photos with Goofy in front of a green screen anyone? I made him “run” with me. I felt a little goofy (haha) taking the photo but I think it turned out cute.

photo (59)

I cannot even tell you how many people thought my ESPM magazine cover was real in I posted it on Instagram. I wish!

photo (60)

This post is getting a bit lengthy so I will pick up with the rest of the tour and the surprises that were in store for us next time!

QOTD: Have you ever had your photo taken in front of a green screen?

LAST DAY to enter my medal hanger giveaway by Sport Hooks!

Disclosure: I attended this event as a media guest for Disney Sports. My flight, accommodations, park tickets, and meals were supplied by Disney, but my opinions are my own.

Disney Fantasy April 2013: Part 4

I last left off on part 3 with Bobby wearing my bra. Smile

Did I get your attention? Hehe. The next day, we docked in Costa Maya. We decided to not get off the ship and spend the day taking advantage of the ship with less people. When we sailed here in October, we did the jeep excursion with my parents and had a BLAST, but really there was nothing else on the island we “had” to do and didn’t want to pay for an excursion. We ate breakfast at the buffet then went to the adult pool area/Satellite falls and found some chairs to relax and read in.

DSC_0778

We stayed here all morning, and even got to ride the Aqua Duck with about a 10 minute wait. We ate lunch at the buffet and headed back to our chairs for a nice nap. It was a glorious morning!

In the afternoon, we went on the top deck with my stalker camera lens to get some photos of Costa Maya

We then went to the gym for the second time of the trip. We grabbed a snack around 6:00, then relaxed in our room watching movies before getting ready for dinner at PALO! We have done brunch several times but never dinner so we were very excited.

I know this is a short post, but I want to stop here because Palo deserves it’s own post!

Trip Recap January 2013

Hi guys! Happy Tuesday. This is kind of a weird week for me since we are in Louisiana with my family while Bobby takes care of some business in New Orleans. You would think I would get a lot of work done not being in my actual house with distractions like laundry and dishes, but I am having a really hard time focusing here. I thought a fun picture post would be a good one for today, sharing some of my favorite photos from marathon weekend that weren’t in my race recap. We were in Disney for 6 nights, so a lot of other fun things went on besides the races themselves!

We stayed the first four nights at the lovely Yacht Club. Bobby had never stayed here before so it was fun to experience something new with him. We had a great room with a king bed and a huge balcony overlooking the quiet pool.

We hung out at Hollywood Studios Friday

DSC_0771

Then picked up Karen and Jason from the expo and went to dinner at Trails End Buffet at Fort Wilderness. It was a fantastic meal with good friends and we went back later in the week!

DSC_0787

On Saturday after the half marathon, we got cleaned up and headed over to the Magic Kingdom for lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern (and to stay loose for the marathon the next day!)

The next day after the Full marathon we went to dinner with Jen and Jeff at ‘Ohana

DSC_0814

DSC_0823

We had a great time with them as usual, and we were sad they were leaving the next day.

DSC_0833

Monday morning we checked out of the Yacht Club and into the Beach Club for two nights on the concierge level. We called it a late anniversary weekend getaway.

DSC_0836

Our room wasn’t ready so we ate breakfast and walked over to EPCOT. I love the proximity of this resort. Bobby even found a limited time magic photo op in Canada, but the characters weren’t there yet.

DSC_0838

DSC_0840

We ate lunch at the quick service place in China, before meeting up with Karen and Jason so they could eat in Mexico.

DSC_0843

We texted Crystal and found out she was nearby, so we went over to France to meet up with her and Mary. The four of us met four of us first met this same weekend back in 2009. Crystal was running the marathon and the other three of us were not even runners yet. Too funny!

As we were taking photos, a random Japanese couple ran up to us and asked to take a photo with us. Sure! They handed over their camera and we took a picture. Bobby was laughing so hard, but he still managed to snap a photo with my camera, too.

DSC_0848

After the mini photoshoot, we got a call saying our room was ready. We were dreading unpacking the car, so we just decided to go ahead and walk back and get that taken care of.

QOTD: Would you prefer vacationing where it’s cold or hot?

Disney Cruise and Vacation: Part 6

Hi guys! Well, we are still here! It’s still raining here, still very windy. I posted several videos of the storm on my You Tube channel if you want to check them out.  It’s been a tedious few days, and the big news from yesterday is my flight got cancelled for tomorrow, so we are now having to fly out of Pensacola with a  stop in Atlanta. I know this is nothing compared to what other people are facing today with flooded homes, but not going to lie it frustrated me yesterday. In case you have no idea what’s going on down here I suggest you check out weather.com….lots of people have flooded or washed away homes, it’s bad down here. Again. 7 years to the day after Katrina. My family has been very lucky, and we are blessed to have a home with no water in it, and no major wind damage.

I remembered I still haven’t finished recapping my May cruise/trip to Disney, so I thought it would help me pass the time by remembering and posting about the fun time we had this spring! Well, until I got sick, but more on that later.

Where I left off, we were getting off the Disney Magic to start the “land” part of our vacation.

When we got off the boat, we got in our car and didn’t have to be sad, we were heading to WDW, and my parents were joining us there the next day. We drove straight to our resort, the Grand Floridian, to check in. It was early in the morning, and our room wasn’t ready yet. We grabbed some snacks from the lounge and headed back out to Animal Kingdom.

DSC_0812

We headed straight for Expedition Everest so Bobby could jump in the single rider line. He rode it twice very quickly….and then it started to rain, I mean POUR! We ran into the shop, and huddled in with hundreds of others for a good 20-30 minutes until it passed. I had not even thought to bring our ponchos. Whoops. Pretty sure we did the safari ride, walked through and saw some animals on the jungle trek, and did It’s Tough to Be a Bug. Even after eating non stop for 5 days on a cruise, my stomach had the nerve to growl and so we headed to lunch at Flame Tree BBQ. We ate down at a kind of “hidden” deck over the water that has a great view of Expedition Everest.

DSC_0813

DSC_0814

While we were at lunch, we got the text message with our room number in it. I was itching to get back because I KNOW that room number and knew what room we were in, but Bobby wanted to stay longer at Animal Kingdom, so we wandered around a bit more, saw Festival of the Lion King, and then finally decided to head out.

DSC_0815

DSC_0818

Bobby felt bad using a one day ticket for just a few hours (I have an annual pass) but I assured him it was ok. We had several one day base tickets leftover from packages years ago we needed to use anyway. We excitedly went straight to our room and called for our luggage. Just as I suspected, the wonderful staff at the Grand was able to get us the room we honeymooned in five years earlier.

The best part of course, is the view. Can you see the castle to the left in the distance below?

DSC_0830

DSC_0835

DSC_0837

We had panoramic views from the monorail to the castle (including the DVC construction)

DSC_0840

We headed to the lounge for tea and scones, and the best banana bread ever. It’s one of my favorite things they serve in the concierge lounge!

DSC_0845

DSC_0848

We relaxed and ate, my favorite thing to do at the Grand, and then went back to our room and had a surprise from the hotel.

DSC_0850

It was so pretty I almost didn’t want to eat it….but I did anyway, of course. We got cleaned up and dressed for dinner, then went to the lounge to enjoy some appetizers before driving to the Yacht Club for dinner at Yachtsman Steakhouse.

DSC_0852

By this point we WERE full, so we decided to split a meal.

DSC_0853

Of course, we had to have a little birthday fun. Bobby was not amused.

We headed back to the hotel to get some sleep before my parents arrived in the morning!

QOTD: Do you like having your birthday celebrated at restaurants, etc. or do you not like the fuss?

Cruise on the Magic Part 3

Ok so We left off with Key West’s sunset, and I realized my post was getting a bit too long. Let’s pick up with dinner that night:

DSC_0562

We saw captain Mickey in the lobby

DSC_0566

Dinner was great, not sure why I didn’t take photos of the restaurant. But I do have dessert!

DSC_0576

The next day was sea day. We hit up the sit down breakfast before heading to the pool. We relaed a better part of the morning, then decided to do sit down lunch. I wanted an ice cream mickey for dessert and the server asked if I wanted minnie or mickey, I said surprsie me. here is my “mini mouse” bar. Oh dear. The spelling.

DSC_0582

That afternoon we hung out around the ship, watched movies, went to the gym, and relaxed. It was glorious.  Dinner was semi formal, so we got all gussied up for the occasion.

DSC_0588

We were in Animator’s Palate for the evening.

DSC_0594

DSC_0595

Dinner was great as usual, and we were tuckered out from all the sun so we headed to bed shortly after.

The next day was Nassau day. We have been here twice before, so we really had no desire to get off the ship. We woke up to this outside our balcony:

Hello Disney Dream! This was our view from our pool chairs all morning! I was on the Dream last summer, so it was weird being on the Magic and looking over at her! After some relaxing at the pool we decided to go up a deck and get some shots of the Dream next to us in the port, and some higher up shots of Nassau..

That night was pirate night, but I will save the photos for the next installment!

QOTD: Wen you cruise do you always get off at every port?

May Disney World Trip and Cruise Part 1

As you probably know, Bobby and I just got back from a long vacation. Bobby had not been to Disney since September and we hadn’t cruised together in a year (I went on a 3 day work cruise in March) so we were excited about the opportunity to unplug and have a nice long trip together. We first sailed on a 5 night cruise to Key West, Nassau, and Disney’s private island Castaway Cay, and then spent 4 nights in WDW.

We got on the Disney Magic at lunchtime and were able to snag Palo brunch reservations before heading to lunch. The weather was beautiful so we were able to eat outside and not sweat to death (seriously we had gorgeous weather the entire time!)

DSC_0395

We walked around the ship and took pictures while we waited for our cabin to be ready.

Before long it was time to head to our rooms. I was ready to ditch my carry on bag and start getting our luggage so we could unpack. We were in a deluxe oceanview stateroom with a verandah on the 6th deck. (6130) I highly recommend this room if you are looking for a specific number. It was clean and everything was in working order, and our hall was very very quiet.

Then we walked around some more and found the ping pong and fooseball tables up on the deck, where we ended up spending MANY hours during the course of the trip. Let’s just say Bobby didn’t know I had a fooseball table for awhile growing up and that I am pretty darn good if I do say so myself. Eventually it was time for dinner.

We were lucky enough to snag a private table at our seating, score!

After dinner we went to the adult’s only area/club and played a really fun scavenger hunt game where I ended up taking off my bra through my dress in front of everyone and giving it to Bobby to wear on stage…don’t ask. We also watched match your mate (kind of like the newlywed game where all the men always end up getting into trouble). We laughed and laughed and had a great time and then went to bed for our first night, ready to tackle Key West the next day!

QOTD: Who will be watching the Grey’s Anatomy finale tonight? Who do you think will die? What about American Idol? Who’s going home?
