Novmeber 2016 Goals

Another month! October flew by and we are now in my favorite time of year! I may or may not have listened to a Christmas CD in the car on the way home from Disney #SorryNotSorry. I usually hold out until after Thanksgiving, but since we won’t be getting our tree up until the week after Thanksgiving due to the move, it made me happy to have some Christmas going on right now.

Anyway, I feel like I say this every month but November is going to be super busy! We are MOVING at the end of the month and there are so many moving pieces that I am hoping will fall into place. Before we look at my goals for November, let’s check out how I did in October:

1.) Not gain weight: B+ I am giving myself this grade because I am currently up a pound, but I’m pretty sure it’s bloat and water weight coming off from the trip. I didn’t eat all that terrible to be honest. Best way to not stuff yourself silly in Disney? Bring a 2 year old and you will be scarfing down a small plate of food in less than five minutes before you are off chasing them somewhere. We had breakfasts in the villa, and only did two sit down meals. The rest were shared counter service meals and snacks which we brought from home. I had ice cream twice but that’s really it for junky food! I didn’t even get a dole whip (sad panda) Also, we walked an average of 8/9 miles a day and I ran once on my own, so hopefully that helped keep any extra weight away.

2.) Get organized for Disney: B+ This also gets a B because I felt super stressed right before our trip, BUT, we made it there, and I didn’t forget anything major, and everything was fine! Our plans ended up changing a good bit but not because of lack of planning.

3.) Sell our house: A+ YES!!!! I am happy to announce we are under contract. This was one of the reasons I was a little stressed before leaving for Disney. We had a showing the day I was to drive down to my parents house, but I had already allocated that time to pack, and they ended up staying at the house for 45 minutes! Thankfully they ended up putting in an offer, but I was in quite the time crunch getting the house show ready and then packing up after they left. Anyway, the inspection went well, just a couple of minor things to fix, and we are scheduled to close the day before Thanksgiving. It’s all happening so fast and I have so much to do, which brings me to November’s goals!

1.) Get the house ready for moving: This one is going to be a doozy. We have packers and movers coming, but there are things I want to take with us that I don’t want them to pack and fragile/valuable things as well…so I have to sort through everything/throw things away etc. before they get here. We will be at my parents over Thanksgiving and then in a hotel for about three days before we get into our new house, so I need to think ahead for things for Emma Kate etc. for that trip. (Oh did I not mention? We put in an offer on a house in new Tampa and are closing November 28th! Praying the inspection goes well on Monday!)

2.) Workout consistently without boot camp: Now that my beloved boot camp session is over and I’m not joining the next one since I’m moving, I need to hold myself accountable for working out. I can still do my HEAT classes at the gym and of course run, but I will need to lift on my own so I don’t lose the muscle I have worked so hard for.

3.) Get Bella groomed before we move: I know this seems silly but I have so many things to do before we go and Bella needs a haircut! It may be awhile before we find another vet so I want her to have a fresh cut right before we move.

4.) Change our address on all the things: This will be our fourth house, and definitely one of the things I dread most about moving. All the paperwork like forwarding mail, changing addresses on all the things, credit cards, auto bill pay, anything I buy online, etc. etc. Hopefully we will be in this house for a good long while!

October 2016 Goals

Hey guys! Already into another month! I must say, even thought it’s October it doesn’t feel very fall-ish around here. We had a couple of days of temps in the 80’s, but otherwise we are still in the low 90’s with the heat index. This however hasn’t stopped me from using my pumpkin spice coffee creamer and burning my pumpkin candles!

As far as goals go, I feel like the past few months have been difficult to really discuss because I was keeping our big move a secret. But now, I can share more about my goals since the cat is out of the bag! Let’s take a look at my September goals before seeing what I want to accomplish in October:

1.) Stick to what I have been doing: A+ I am SO proud of myself for how well I have been sticking with my workouts and healthy eating this past month. I went to boot camp 4 days a week, HEAT once a week, ran stadiums every Wednesday (except the day EK was home sick), and ran 2 out of 4 Saturdays. I have been rewarded with feeling great and losing another couple of pounds. I am down 8 pounds since the end of June! I plan to share more about this in a body after baby post that will either be up at the end of this week or the beginning of next week.

2.) Make cupcakes for Emma Kate’s birthday: F Yall I really dropped the ball on this one. Emma Kate’s birthday was on a Saturday, so that meant I needed to bring cupcakes Friday. That week was super hard for me as we were dealing with some things having to do with our store, and I just did not have it in me to make cupcakes from scratch. I still brought treats for her class, but they were store bought. Womp womp.

3.) Start walking Bella again: B+ On the days it has been cool enough to do so, yes we have walked. As I said before, it’s still really hot here and I don’t want to burn her feet, but we walked twice this past week when the weather was nice. This will become more frequent as the weather changes!

Oh October. You are going to be quite the challenge for me. This is going to be an odd month because I will be gone 4 days this week, and also a week at the end of the month when we take Emma Kate to Disney World, so I won’t be home as much to do things in my normal routine. But that’’ absolutely will not stop me from trying to meet some goals!

1.) Not gain weight: I am a realist, and I know it will be very difficult to lose more weight this month with two trips. I absolutely plan to indulge at Disney and on my trip week, but I also plan to keep up with my workouts, so I will be happy to just maintain this month.

2.) Get organized for Disney: We check in the 26th but are leaving on the 25th, and other than some dining reservations and some fastpasses, I haven’t really done any organizing or preparing for our trip. I know it’s going to sneak up on me, and I don’t want to forget anything important especially since it’s Emma Kate’s first trip.

3.) Sell our house: Yall, this is a big one. We are praying so hard about it. We really, really need our house to sell like…yesterday. I’m starting to get discouraged, because we are running out of time. I know there isn’t much I can “do” for this goal, other than pray really hard and try and spread the word. August 2016 Goals

I can’t believe it. I actually have a monthly goals list ready to go on the first of the month! Hooray! I have been a few days behind lately, so I was determined to be on time for August. Before we see what my August plans are, let’s see how I did in July:

1.) Clean out my work closet: C+ I did half of this, but there is just so much to do I didn’t get to finish. It’s carrying over again for the third month. I’m determined!

2.) Finish boot camp strong with more muscle mass: A+ Yes! While I haven’t actually done my body fat test yet (I decided to wait and do it before we start our next round in a couple weeks) I KNOW I finished strong. I have more muscle in my legs and arms, and I weight less than I have in years. So gaining muscle AND losing weight is really all I can ask for. Happy with my progress.

3.) Get my eBook launched on time: A+ This was a big one, and I am happy to say everything went really well! With the help of some amazing people, I was able to launch my book on time and get the word out. It’s so much fun to wake up in the morning and check my book sales. 4.) Read my Bible every day: A- I read my Bible almost every day, except Saturday. Saturdays are just hard for me for some reason. I guess because I am not in my normal work week routine?

August is going to be another crazy month around here for some reasons I am hoping I can share with you very soon, but I just can’t quite share yet. Because of that, I can’t share every single monthly goal I have, so my blog list will be a little shorter. Trust me when I say I’m bursting at the seems to share and will do so as soon as I can! August Goals:

1.) Finish that darn upstairs closet: Carryover from the past two (sigh) months.

2.) Stick to my training schedule: I mentioned last week that I started training for fall and winter races. I will be honest and say the thought of running a half marathon right now is daunting because it’s just so hot, but I know I have to start training now in order to be ready in October/November/December. This is making it hard for me to want to get out and run and follow a training plan, but I really need to in order to stay on track.

June 2016 Goals

I know I am a couple days late, but happy June! I am going to tell yall right now this is going to be a CRAZY MONTH for me because of some family things I’m not at liberty to discuss now, but I am still committed to reaching my mini goals. But first, let’s see how I did in May.

1.) Sell items in the garage: A- I’m pretty proud of this one! I got rid of 90% of the stuff in the garage. I sold a few things, and the rest I donate to Vietnam veterans. It felt “cleansing” to get rid of that stuff and not have it clutter up my garage!

2.) Clean up my closet: A- I put all of my winter clothes in bins on the top shelf of my closet, and even went through my things and pulled out items to donate with the stuff in the garage. I still have way more clothes than I need, but it’s a start and I am proud of my progress.

3.) Boot camp 4 times a week: A- I had one week where things were a bit crazy and I only went twice, but other than that I have gone four times every week, and we just started a new two months session. I am getting so much stronger, and have been able to add more weight to the bar when I squat which is so rewarding.

4.) Keep a running base of 6 miles: A+ Done! I ran six miles two weekends ago, and the other weekends were 5 milers and 4.5 milers, so I would call that a win! (By keeping a running base of 6 miles, I had no intention of running 6 miles every weekend, just at least once a month.)

June goals:

1.) Clean up my work closet: We have a large closet in our bonus room that I have filled with all things related to Disney travel. I have papers, brochures, trinkets, books, etc. and it’s kind of turned into a hot mess up there. Time to clean it out and organize!

2,) Cook one new recipe: I’m going to be realistic here. As I said, June is going to be crazy busy so one new recipe will be a big step for me!

3,) Workout 5 times a week: Again with the busyness about to unfold, I need to stay strong with my workouts and not make excuses.

4,) Run at least once a week: If I’m going to slack on a workouts, it’s going to be on the weekend when I am supposed to run. I just need to stay focused and put action steps in place to set myself up for success in this department.

Being able to see them every day helped me to remember to get things done. It also made me feel really good about myself and confident when I was able to achieve something!

April 2016 Goals

Spring has sprung! With warmer temperatures and tons of rain, everything exploded into green in the past couple of weeks. But I’m ready for all the rain to stop. Seriously. stop.

It’s a new month so that means new goals and checking in on how badly I did on last months goals. I kids, I kid. Let’s take a look at my March goals:

1.) PT exercises every night: (B-) I would venture to say have been doing them four times a week, but good news is I had no hip pain at my 10k so hopefully they are working and I can be done with the hip pain!

2.) PR at the Crescent City Classic: (A-) I’m giving this one an A- because while I did PR at the race, it wasn’t the PR I wanted/knew I had in me. I hate humidity, it ruins all the races! Still happy I was able to break a three year old PR.

3.) Daily devotions: (B-) Again, I have gotten way better, but still not doing this daily. I think I missed two days last week. But going to small group Bible study during the week helps a lot!

4.) Finish boot camp strong: (B+) Boot camp ended the 24th, and I skipped the last day due to some other stuff going on, but other than that I would say I finished pretty strong. We start another two month session TODAY, so here is to getting stronger and faster!

Now let’s move on to April goals:

1.) Continue PT exercises: The reason my hip started hurting again is because it got better so I STOPPED doing my exercises, so I don’t want that to happen again!

2.) Read one book: I haven’t read any books since our cruise in January and I miss it!

3.) Give away or sell items: While I have gotten rid of a lot of stuff in the garage, there is still a pile of things I need to sell, and then donate the rest. Spring cleaning time!

4.) Keep a running base of six miles: Now that it’s getting warmer and we are moving in 5k season, it’s tempting to only run two and three miles at a time, but then when fall comes I am not prepared for half marathons again, so I would like to keep a consistent six mile base all summer, even if I just run six miles once a month.

2016 Goals

On Friday I shared with you a recap of my 2015 goals and how I felt I did during the year at achieving them. Now it’s time to look forward to 2016 which will be here in (literally) the blink of an eye and see what I have planned. You know, things like creating a hover car and revolutionizing the way we do dishes. I wish. Instead, here is what I’m looking at:

1.) PR at any distance: I had this goal last year and I liked it, because it didn’t put pressure on a certain distance, just on me bettering myself as a runner in general. While I do have some more race specific goals in mind, I think with what I think will be a crazy and unpredictable 2016, this goal will suffice. Also, that was really good champagne.

2.) Take Emma Kate to Walt Disney World: Everyone assumes because I book Disney travel I would have taken Emma Kate to Disney by now, but the truth is, there are several reasons she hasn’t gone, but I see many, many tips in her future! One reason is she is still taking two naps most days and will NOT sleep in her stroller, so I’m not even sure how we would go to the parks with her napping at 10:00 and 2:30 most days. She is in transition to one nap which I think will make Disney easier for this non-stroller sleeping little one. Soon young grasshopper, soon! Another thing stopping us is my parents really want to go when she goes for the first time, and they have had a crazy year and won’t be able to go until later in 2016. Lastly, we wanted to take her when she was a bit older and could recognize characters and walk around and play. So, we are thinking we will stay in a villa all together and make it a memorable first visit in the fall of 2016! It’s not set in stone hence why it’s a goal, but I’m pretty sure it will happen, it’s going to be so fun to see my favorite place through her eyes!

3.) Finish writing a book: This is not something I have really talked a lot about here on THLG *gulp* but I have about four different book ideas partially started/in the works at the moment, but I just haven’t had time to pick one I want to really put my whole heart into and make into a book or e-book. BUT, this is a HUGE goal of mine for 2016, and it terrifies me to “put it out there”, because now I really have to get cracking since you all know about it. What have I done.

4.) Have a daily devotion: I am disappointed in myself for letting this slip on days I am home all day with Emma Kate. I think I am going to move my devotion to night time so there is no excuse of a tiny human taking up my time in the mornings. Good thing she’s cute.

5.) Monthly goals: I used to post small mini/monthly goals here on the blog, but I got away from it when I got pregnant and had Emma Kate since my monthly goals included things like “take a shower” and “keep the baby alive”, but I really enjoyed sharing them with yall when I had actual goals, and it helps keep me in check. They are coming back in 2016!

So there you have it, A somewhat vague description on some I know, but still a list of things I want to accomplish in 2016. I can’t believe it will be here in nine days. Never too early to get started!

October Goals 2013

Guess what? It’s October 2nd and I am writing my goals…not on October 12th or 21st. Hooray! So just like August, September flew by, and I have a feeling October will as well. I have a lot going on, and can’t wait to share it with you! Today we drive down to Orlando, and will be hitting up Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure in the morning. Bobby has never been. Cannot wait to show everything to him! We will be staying at one of the onsite hotels so we can take advantage of the express pass (email me for more info on booking a trip for you! Let’s start with the goals, maybe tomorrow I will be able to share some fun news with you.

October goals:

1.) Slow down: I feel like I am on the go all the time, which isn’t bad, but I find myself looking to the next thing often instead of enjoying the moment. I want to live in the now and savor the things I am doing in the present

2.) Read the Bible every day: I was doing really good with this one and continue to do well while I am at home, but when I am traveling that is another story. I want to keep at this no matter where I am.

3.) Stretch: My IT band has started aching a bit since last Thursday which makes me a little nervous. I need to stretch, foam roll, and do some more yoga.

4.) Not eat too much Halloween candy: Let’s be realistic, I WILL eat Halloween candy, but I need to work on my portion control and not eat it all day long whenever I want. Oy.

Monthly Goals: August 2013

A week late again, I know. One of these months I will get this done on time. The new month just sneaks up on me! Good thing I don’t scare easy. Well…maybe I do, but please don’t use it against me.

Let’s take a look at last month’s goals I gotta say I’m a bit embarrassed…

1.) Heal my IT band: (D-) Still hurts. Not when I run, but still hurts after.

2.) get back to my happy weight: (D-) So I haven’t GAINED anymore weight but I have only lost about a pound.  I went to Disney last month and weeellll that makes it hard to lose. Ug.

3.) Go back to body pump: (F…) It just didn’t happen yall. I was out of town for 2 Mondays, and the other two I was busy catching up on everything I missed. I fail.

4.) Leg strengthening exercises: (C-) I actually did well the first 1.5 weeks of the month with this, then went on a trip and slacked off.

For this month, since last month was SO bad, I really just want a redo of last month, so I am keeping ALL my goals the same for the first time ever. We shall see how it goes.

May Goal Rewind and June Goals 2013

A bit more timely this month with the goals, day four as opposed to ten. I am getting better! Last month, I set a few mini goals for myself and want to review how I did and give you my June goals.

I must say, I rocked this months goals and am pretty darn proud.

1.) Build my running base up to 7-8 miles (A-) I completed a 7 miler, and was SUPPOSED to do an 8 last weekend but thanks to my IT band flare up it didn’t happen. However, I am proud I got to 7 and am building my base back up. Fingers crossed I am back up and running (har har) soon.

2.) Cook a new recipe (A+) I cooked a new spaghetti recipe Bobby and I both ended up really liking, and I know I will make it again. Score!

3.) Back up my photos (A+) We bought an external hard drive and I have put all of my photos on it. Wahoo! I feel better knowing they are safe if my computer dies. Which it better not. I would be sad.

4.) Stretch (B+) The second half of the month was better than the first, and honestly out of necessity. With my IT band acting up, I have been stretching non stop, multiple times a day. Hopefully I will keep at it and be more proactive.

June goals:

1.) Heal my IT band. Pretty self explanatory. I am icing, stretching, foam rolling, and straightening.

2.) Get on track with Dumbo Challenge training. I was supposed to s art my training plan yesterday, but obviously that isn’t happening with my injury, but I would like to get on track this month.

3.) Get back to my happy weight. After the Princess half in February, I took some time off from distance running and hard workouts, so I put on a couple pounds. When I was on vacation and a a work trip for 2 weeks, where I put on a couple more. I really want to get back to my happy weight before we go to the beach in July.

4.) Stop Worrying. Oy. This is a big one for me. May brought a few changes and disappointments, and I am tired of letting my circumstances change my mood so much. Must stop worrying and just be.

April Goal Rewind and May Goals

Late again, I know I know. I apologize. Ten days is a lot, but I just got home on Wednesday night.

Before we dive into my goals for the (remainder) of the month of May, let’s look at my April goals and see how I did:

1.) Stretch: (F…) Oh boy…this is not a good habit I have fallen into and my IT bands are letting me know. They have been super tight the past few weeks. This one will have to appear again…

2.) Cross train twice a week: (A+) Thanks to #Crosstrainorremainthesame I completed this one! (Also a huge thanks to those who completed the challenge!)

3.) Cut back on the sweets: (C+) This one is tricky because I did a decent job before our trip but on our trip..not so much. However the trip only fell the last week of the month so that counts for something.

4.) Run two more races: (B-) I am giving myself a B because I was so close on this one. I ran the Zombie run in April, and on the cruise on MAY 1, I ran the Castaway Cay 5k. So I missed it by a day but still a good solid effort.

Ok, the past is the past, let’s move on to May:

1.) Build my running base back up to at least 7-8 miles: I took a break from distance after the Princess half and honestly have lost a LOT of my distance fitness. Time to rebuild!

2.) Cook a new recipe: You know how it gets…same out rotation of same foods because well…it’s easy.

3.) Back up my photos: My laptop has been finicky lately and I don’t want it to die and not have backed up my photos. This truly scares the mess out of me.

4.) Stretch: enough staid
