Simplify Your Life with the HP AMP 100

Disclosure: I was provided with the new HP AMP 100 printer from HP, however all options are my own.

Confession time: My printer is old. Like really old. So old that when someone asks me to print, sign, and scan something and then email it back to them, I visibly cringe because it’s such a long process that will take me forever to complete. Time is money, and I like to be efficient. That being said,  I would rejoice when I could fill out a form online and not have to do this long painful task. It was that. Bad.

However, I can honestly now say after geeking out about my new HP AMP 100 printer all week, that my work life has been changed and the whole process is way less painful than it was before. Actually, it’s downright fun now!

This printer is super compact, connects to your wireless network, and has a Bluetooth speaker (say what!) That’s right. You can listen to your music, print and scan, all while also charging your phone (USB port) and even answering a phone call with the built in mic.

Ok, let’s back up a minute and I will walk you through the print/scan/email process, because I just love talking about it.

First of all, you download the free HP Smart app. Right in the app it tells you your ink cartridge levels, and you can order more ink right then and there if needed. So convenient. Next, you push the button to print, and can pick something from your camera roll, or you can choose to print a document. Once you print, go back to the app and hit “scan to email”, and the camera on your phone automatically picks up the size of your photo, and makes it into a document that can be scanned. You can do several sheets at a time, and when you are done, you just enter in the email address you want to send to and you are done! No waiting for the “scanner lamp
to warm up or making sure you put the paper facing the right way on the scanner bed. It’s just like taking a photo from your phone but the format is way better and more professional looking.

Ok so back to the speaker. You can stream music from your favorite apps and enjoy amazing high quality sound, featuring Smart Amp technology. if you pair the printer with your phone, then you can easily answer calls with amazing clarity. So many uses for this printer!

HP amp

The price of the printer is only $129, so I feel it’s super affordable and would be great in a college dorm room, or home office (like mine!). I am all about efficiency and saving time, and the HP AMP 100 fits the bill, and has made me a happy girl boss!

Check out the video below to see how quick and easy it is to print, scan, and email a document.

QOTD: What is your favorite feature of this printer?

ASICS fuzeX Photo Contest

When you think about your running shoes, it’s interesting to think about all the places they have been, and the things they have seen. If my shoes could talk, they would rave about running through Cinderella Castle, on the peaceful trails near my house, and up and down the Hollywood hills for the LA marathon. Running shoes can literally take us anywhere, so that is why ASICS came up with the all new fuzeX shoe.

ASICS fuzex

This shoe is being touted as a “shoe for any distance,” and will retail for $110. This shoe is for underpronators to neutral runners, and is more lightweight than most of my other shoes with seamless construction and an adaptive fit. It contains fuzeGEL™, a fusion of GEL® property and foam for the ultimate rearfoot shock absorption that transfers to the forefoot during takeoff.

fuzex asics

It is comfortable, the colors are adorable, and not the least bit heavy feeling or clunky. The shoe is just now launching, and a great contest will also coincide, beginning in February.

Aloft New Orleans Downtown

When Bobby and I went to New Orleans for the Crescent City Classic the weekend of Easter, we decided to stay in a hotel close to the start line the night before as opposed to driving in that morning of the race as we have done in the past.

We ended up staying at the newly opened Aloft New Orleans Downtown, which was just a few short block to the starting line at the Superdome. I have never stayed at an Aloft hotel before but have heard good things, so I was excited to try it out.

We were given a corner room on the 15th floor with great views of the city, and even the Superdome! I loved the apartment-style feel, the bathroom was open to the bedroom with a space up top above the “wall” which was pretty neat.

DSC_0028

It had a very modern, techy vibe, and the room was huge!

DSC_0031

My favorite though was the New Orleans touch in between the beds. Who doesn’t love street cars? DSC_0033

Here is a closer look.

IMG_4108 (2)

Our room had two comfy queen beds (king beds are available), a flat screen TV, a desk, and plenty of other seating. I was afraid with so many windows, we wouldn’t be able to sleep. However, Aloft had us covered (no pun intended) with double shades on the windows, it was plenty dark for us!

DSC_0037

DSC_0038

DSC_0039

The bathroom area had two closet spaces, an in room safe, a refrigerator, and coffee maker.

DSC_0030

Also something I loved, a free bottle of water!

IMG_4112 (2)

We loved the lotion and soaps here, too.

DSC_0040

There was a sliding door where the shower was located. DSC_0029

Which by the way, was huge and really nice!

DSC_0041

We were also left a sweet note and some snacks. (Side note: There is a little store downstairs called Re:Fuel that is open 24/7 where you can purchase snacks and food and charge it to your room.)

IMG_4105 (2)

Bobby’s favorite part were the city views. He sat in the windows just looking around for the longest time. The hotel ahs a great vantage point! Can you see the Superdome?

DSC_0042

Since we arrived when it was dark, I waited to take pictures of the lobby and outside the next day after the race.

IMG_4180 (2)

IMG_4184 (2)

Below is a picture of the WXYZ bar. When we checked in the night before, it was during happy hour and boy was this place hoppin’! Definitely seemed like the place to be for those wanting to enjoy the social scene. They also have live music and food here as well.

IMG_4183 (2)

As you can see the hallways carry on the modern and stylish theme of the hotel.

IMG_4188 (2)

We really enjoyed our stay here and wish we could have stayed longer! The proximity to the French Quarter was great, the room was huge and nice, and the staff was friendly.

They also offer meeting spaces if you are in town for business, so this place is more than just guest rooms! Another think I learned is that this is a pet friendly hotel (up to 40 pounds). There is also a gym and pool which we didn’t have a chance to check out (the pool isn’t open until May). We also took advantage of the free Wi-fi while we were staying at the hotel.

We didn’t really find many cons to the hotel. Valet parking was $39 plus tax which does make me want to have a heart attack, however it is on par with the price of parking for other hotels in the city. I would also say there was definitely a younger crowd staying here. We didn’t hear ANY noise during the night, but I can see this as being more of a hotel for partiers. That is totally fine, but I just like to be honest and warn people in advance who may not be as into that late night scene.

A huge thank you to Aloft New Orleans Downtown for letting us stay at this beautiful hotel for the night, we hope to be back soon!

Disclosure: I was provided with a free night’s stay in exchange for my honest review. Of course, all opinions are my own.

ActivMotion Bar Review

I was invited by Sweat Pink and ActivMotion Bar to test out their product and accompanying workout DVD’s.

IMG_2161 (2)

I will be honest, at first I wasn’t sure how this bar was going to help me get stronger. I was sent the 8 pound bar, so it was not very heavy. However, I quickly learned what makes it different and how it really helps you get in a good workout.  It’s filled with rolling steel weights constantly in motion as you move the bar, so strengthens your core and also helps with balance, which I am terrible at!

0852 1 (2)

The steel weights in the ActivMotion Bar create variable resistance which make you engage and hold steady for the movements. They call this disruptive training. Say what? The website says: it is “training that is based on utilizing the body’s experience of an unstable disruptive training stimulus”.

The ActivMotion Bar comes in five different weight sizes, ranging from 6 to 18 pounds, and also included a set of DVD’s which is what I needed. I had no idea how to do workouts with this thing!

0944 (2)

Another great thing is that the bar doesn’t take up a lot of space. I can prop it up in my closet and just pull it and my yoga mat out when I am ready for a workout!

IMG_2586 (2)

IMG_2592 (2)

The movement library on the ActivMotion bar website also has some great exercises to try. I haven’t had a chance to try out all of the videos, but as I get better core stability and balance, I will be trying out the rest. Lots of room for growth!

QOTD: Do you ever workout at home?

This post was sponsored by ActivMotion Bar and Fit Approach, but as always, all opinions are my own.

Detour SMART Bar Review

The following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Detour Bar.

I am quite picky about my snacking. I don’t eat large meals, so I snack all. the. time. I carry a lot of bar type foods around in my purse as well, and am always on the lookout for what fuels me best and is healthy while still tasting good.

smartbar1

I was sent two boxes of Detour’s SMART bars in Blueberry and Apple Cinnamon.

smartbar

The day I got these in the mail, my husband and I busted open a box and both tried one, and were pleasantly surprised! The greek yogurt drizzle is what put it over the top for me! I also like the soft texture.

smartbar2

There are four total flavors: Blueberry, Apple Cinnamon, Cranberry Flax, and Peanut Butter Chocolate. I can only vouch for the two I was sent, but I will say both boxes are almost gone!

I know in the summer a lot of people tend to get lax on their healthy eating. There are tons of BBQ’s to go to, frozen treats to consume, and the heat makes you not want to workout. However, you don’t have to sacrifice your healthy lifestyle in the summer and can still snack smart!

detourbar

I am a numbers nerd, so I really enjoyed checking out this chart comparing Detour bars to other brands. Don’t get me wrong, I still eat and enjoy some of these other brands, but it is nice to know that Detour bars have the lowest amount of sugar and are very high up there in terms of protein!

detourbar2

If you like high protein, healthy snacks, that give you energy through whole grain carbs and fiber, you should try a box of Detour SMART bars. You can find them at several locations or purchase online. For more information or to follow the brand on social media, be sure to check them out on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.

QOTD: What do you look for in a healthy snack bar? Taste? sugar? protein?

P.S. – Be on the lookout today on my Instagram account for a giveaway!

Under Armour Speedform Apollo

speedform

My friends at Under Armour recently sent me the new Speedform Apollo shoe to test out. I am usually a stability shoe kind of girl so I wasn’t so sure, but after walking and running in them, I can say I’m a believer (for short distances, with my super high arches I’m scared to run more than 4 miles in them).

speedform apollo

These shoes are crafted in a clothing factory (cool!) to make sure the fit is as comfortable as the Under Armour clothing that we ALL love. The fabric is so comfortable and flexible the Apollos didn’t even require to be “broken in!”

This is a slim shoe that has zero bulk. It has a seamless heel cup so rubbing shouldn’t be an issue, as it hasn’t been for me.

The shoes have a perforated toe so they are very breathable. There is also a 4D foam sock liner that conforms to your foot’s shape, so you don’t have to worry about sliding around in your shoes.

UA

They weigh only 6.5 ounces, and have cool molded toe detail. I felt like the ride was very smooth, but not SO minimal that I could feel every crack in the sidewalk. My feet felt great the whole time, and I didn’t have any issues afterwards. I noticed every though the shoe is very light and form fitting, the sole is actually pretty thick which gives some nice support without being bulky.

The women’s shoe comes in four great color combos and retails for $99.99. You can purchase them here through my affiliate link, too!

QOTD: Do you prefer a more stable shore or a lightweight minimal shoe?

Disclosure: I was provided these shoes by my friends at Under Armour, however all opinions are my own.

Gone for a RUN Medal Hanger Review

As a Gone for a RUN ambassador, I was given the opportunity to review a medal hanger from their website which includes a HUGE assortment of other items, too. I am constantly running out of space for my medals, so this opportunity came at a great time!

Shipping was fast, and my item came wrapped very securely  in it’s packaging. The hanger came with twist in screws that were very easy for me to put into the display.

unnamed (6)

A card with directions was also included. The only thing not included was two screws for the wall (letting hubby handle that one I think!)

unnamed

I was very pleased with the quality of the display, it has a very slick and shiny finish, and the picture on the front had deep beautiful colors.

unnamed (1)

This particular medal hanger came with 9 hooks.

unnamed (2)

unnamed (3)

The best part about this product, is that there are SO MANY designs to choose from, you can even purchase individualize special hooks for your medals. You can also personalize your display with your own name, text, or mantra. I can easily see myself having a row of all different displays hanging up to proudly display my race accomplishments. Oh, another great thing about these bad boys is the price. Starting at $29.99, this would make a great Mother’s Day gift for your favorite runner!

QOTD: How do you display your medals?

runDisney medal holder review

Hello! I’m Crystal from Yasumi Designs! Not quite your average healthy living blog…as in not quite healthy and not quite a blog. 😉 However, I am an avid runDisney fan. I recently received the new runDisney medal holder as an anniversary gift from my husband, and offered to guest post a review for Heather.clip_image002

http://www.disneystore.com/rundisney-medal-holder/mp/1343171/1000387/

When I first heard about this medal holder, I was instantly curious. I had been wanting a holder for all my runDisney medals, but was unsure about this one. Luckily, I didn’t have to make that decision since my husband ordered it for me.

The first thing I noticed upon taking the holder out of the box, was that it didn’t look quite like the photo online:

clip_image004

Notice that there are not the extra “hang bar” slots between the bars like in the online photo? Even though the description online says it can hold 6 medals, the photo makes it seem like you can put 13. Clearly, you can *maybe* put 8.

I found a random wall to temporarily mount my new holder to see how it held up:

clip_image006

I was able to get 8 medals on, which was my 2013 runDisney haul. I’d need a hanger for each year at this rate…

clip_image008

I do have to say that the two different surfaces they used for the “run” and “Disney” created a pretty cool effect.

clip_image010

I wasn’t sure how I felt about having all the medals hanging at the same level and clanking against each other, so I tried to stagger them:

clip_image012

An improvement, but the lanyards are not neatly arranged on top. Perhaps something other than paper clips would work better.

I think this is an extremely cute, well-made medal holder. My main concern is that it is WAY TOO SMALL. If I had run any more runDisney races this year, they would not have fit. I hope to see a revamp of this in the future with the capability to hold a lot more medals. Most runDisney fanatics are bling-chasers, and want to proudly display their achievements. This official runDisney medal holder will definitely have a home on my wall, but I will be sure to leave room for additional holders, as I may need one for every year.

Thanks for reading!

Crystal

QOTD: Do you have a medal manger? Wanting a runDisney one?

Reebok Workout Clothes Review

Awhile back Reebok sent me a pair of Zig Carbon shoes, a pair of PWR leggings and a fun yoga top. reebok

Shoes: The Zig Carbon is born to run and ready to action, this running shoe features a responsive zig-zag sole for responsive cushioning, a full length carbon fiber plate for structured support in the midfoot, and a high abrasion rubber outsole for durability.

Yoga Top: Get fit to bend the rules with the single jersey Yoga Long Bra Top. Featuring moisture-wicking PlayDry technology and a flattering, racerback silhouette with built in bra and removable pads, this yoga essential has athlete-friendly style that satisfies.

Leggings: Reebok ONE Apparel Collection. A fitted legging designed to enhance your workouts, keeping you comfortable without sacrificing style. Features antimicrobial gusset for extreme comfort and odor management, plus generous cuffs for a secure feel that stays put.

My thoughts:

Shoes: I LOVE the color and the look of the shoes. They fit true to size, and were super fun to wear. My only complaint is there is a tab on the top back of the shoe I’m assuming to help you pull the shoe on. However, it rubs the back of my leg and I may end up cutting it off.

Top: This top has got to be one of the softest tops I have ever worn. It feels GREAT and I love the racerback and built in bra. I also like that it’s long, I hate when my stomach shoes when I am doing yoga/lifting.

Pants: At first I wasn’t so sure about them. Wearing print across my big butt did not seem like something I wanted to do. However, I put them on anyway and wore them to the gym. Again, SUPER soft and cozy, I could lounge in these pants all day long (and have!)

photo (13)

Overall, a great fun outfit I am so glad they sent to me! Be sure to check out their website where you can purchase your own gear!

WINNER of the Gold Bond prize pack is:  Kristen Grace! please e mail me at [email protected] to claim your prize!

QOTD: What is your favorite quality in a good pair of shoes, workout top, or workout pants?

Disclosure: I was provided with this gear from Reebok through Fitfluential. However, all opinions are my own.

ONTHEAGENDAhlsbadge

Ok, jumping all over the place here. I wanted to also tell you about a great company called Running on the Wall. (Facebook page here). They contacted me awhile back to see if I wanted to review one of their medal hangers. Yes please! Mine was hopelessly running out of space.  They let me pick my design, and sent it to me so quickly, everything went smoothly and their customer service is great. So, here is the one I chose:

They have a bunch of different sayings you an choose from, colors, and two sizes. You can also get a wall hanger for your race bibs! It came with nails and was easy to assemble the screws into the front. I highly recommend Running on the Wall if you are looking for a new medal hanger.

QOTD: What mantra would you put on a medal hanger?
