28th Birthday

Today I turn 28.

I guess I was expecting to feel older, but my brain still functions as it did last year, and when I was 18. I assumed at some point in adulthood there would be some “switch” where I all of the sudden started thinking like a responsible adult, but turns out there really isn’t.

For this, I am glad. I never want to feel too “grown up.” It is really true you are as young as you feel. Some things in my 27th year did grow me up as far as wisdom and lessons learned goes, but I’m still me. I still have the same hopes and dreams, and want to go to Disney World for my birthday (and I am!)

While I am at the age where I don’t really want to get any older, I do want to continue to learn and grow wiser. I hope that I can look back on next year as I am doing now for last year, and say that it was worth it, that I made the best of it, and I learned from it.

Thus year definitely had it’s high points and really low ones, but I am a blessed girl, and am so thankful for what (and who) I have in my life.

Cheers to 28.

  2. Happy Birthday Heather! I hope you have a great day and an awesome time at the best place in the world (though how could you not!) 🙂

Chocolate on chocolate for me-always! My mom makes the best one ever.

  3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you enjoy your day 🙂 I am not a HUGE fan of cake but I would say red velvet! Growing up I asked for a birthday pie instead haha.

  4. Happy birthday!! Enjoy WDW.

  5. Happy happy birthday Heather! I hope you have an awesome day! And a great time in Disney…that’s the best birthday present ever! My favorite flavor birthday cake…red velvet! Yum!

  6. Happy Birthday! And enjoy your trip to Disney – very jealous! I’ve always wanted to go to Disney for my birthday, but I’m not sure I could deal with the heat this time of year!

  7. Hope you have a fabulous birthday!

I never used to think about how old I was either….when someone would ask I would say 19 automatically…. then I did the math one day and I was really 27.. hah!

I wish I could get away with that now!

  8. Happy Birthday Heather! Thank you for sharing your past years in writing with us! I hope you have a wonderful time at WDW! Enjoy!

  9. Hope you have a fabulous birthday, my friend!

  10. Happy birthday! I completely know what you mean about not feeling older. Some days I feel like I was 15 just yesterday – particularly when I’m listening to NSYNC while running 🙂

Fave flavor birthday cake: chocolate ice cream cake! Mmmm

  11. Happy birthday! I hope it’s a lovely, Disney-filled one. 🙂

  12. Happy birthday Heather! Enjoy your day at Disney!

Right now, I’d go with lemon cake with vanilla buttercream frosting…with sprinkles! Yes, lots and lots of colourful sprinkles 🙂

Wishing you a wonderful year ahead! xo

  13. I always thought I would feel “grown up” at 18. When that didn’t happen, I thought 21, then 25, 30….I’m 41 and in many areas I don’t feel all that different than I did 20 years ago. When you’re very young, other people seem so much older. When you get there, you realize you’re the same person you always were. More experienced, wiser, but essentially you’re still you and that doesn’t change. Happy Birthday!

  14. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! I like chocolate cake 🙂

  15. Meredith says:

Happy birthday! It’s mine, too, except that I’m 35. I have 4 children and still don’t feel “grown up”! My favorite birthday cake is lemon doberge!!

  16. Happy Birthday!! There is a white cake with raspberry filling and cream cheese frosting that Publix makes. It’s my absolute FAVORITE!
