Hello! If you have a question you would like me to answer, just send it to heather@heatherslookingglass.com and I would be happy to put it in this section! Or, if you are shy, you can comment on this post under a fake name 🙂
1.) What do you do for a living? You talk about being at home a lot.
Yes! I love working from home. I get paid to blog, and I also am a social media manager. I work part time for a marketing agency, and also do freelance work for brands/businesses and their social media pages.
2.) What kind of Garmin do you use?
I use the Garmin 10, it’s pink. :0)
3.) What Disney resorts have you stayed at?
I have stayed at the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, Bay Lake Tower, Polynesian, Boardwalk, Animal Kindom Lodge, Wilderness Lodge, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Port Orleans Riverside, Coronado Springs, All Star Sports, Pop Century, Caribbean Beach, All Star Music, and the Fort Wilderness Campground. My favorite is the Grand Floridian. 🙂 I have also sailed on all four Disney cruise ships.
4.) Tell me about your dog, she is super cute!
My baby girl dog is Bella. Bella is a cream/apricot toy poodle and she is nine. We call Bella “stinky” (or stink, stinker, Bella stink, etc.) because she is so bad, and such a little stinker!
5.) How did you and Bobby meet? How long did you date and how long were you engaged?
Bobby and I met my sophomore year of college, the first weekend back at school. We were both playing in an intermural volleyball tournament on opposite teams and we started talking. He invited me to come out and play ball with them in the afternoons, and he finally asked me out one day. 🙂 We dated for one year and three months before Bobby had the nerve to propose. We then were engaged for 13 months before we got married. (yes it was a long engagement, but when you are having a New Orleans wedding you have to book things way in advance because big weddings are so popular!) We were married January 6, 2007.
6.) How did you get started distance running?
In high school I was a sprinter and a 400 seemed like a long way. In January of 2009, I went to Disney World and watched some friends run the marathon. While standing on the side watching the runners and the spectators, I started to tear up. I was so inspired watching the runners at mile 23ish of their race, determined to finish. At that moment, I decided if they can do it, I can do it. I went home and started training. The next year, I went back and ran the half marathon with my husband. Halfway to my goal! I ran two more halfs, and then started training for the full marathon in the summer. I went back January 2011 and accomplished my goal of running the full marathon! It took me two years but I came full circle. 🙂
7.) What kind of makeup do you wear?
I wear bare minerals on my face, and I use cover girl lash blast mascara. I recently bought a new concealer because I have dark circles under my eyes. It’s from Sephora and it’s called “erase paste” by Benefit cosmetics. It works really well and a little bit goes a long way. I also use Tarte cheek stain that I get at Sephora. I use Bare Minerals eye shadow, too.
8.) I noticed that you don’t blog about your food. What is your diet like?
I knew I was going to get this one! I don’t blog about my food for a reason. I have gotten SO much better, but I am definitely not the epitome of the healthy eater. I have a HUGE sweet tooth and I eat chocolate everyday. I also love bread and pasta, but have cut back, and now eat whole grain/wheat instead of white. I eat a lot of chicken, and try to limit my red meat to once a week or so. I also LOVE sweet tea but only drink it once a week on the weekend as a treat. I like simple recipes (check out my recipes tab!) I also love cheese!!!! I have broadened my horizons a lot in the past few years, but I still don’t eat seafood and cannot force myself to eat a salad except in smoothie form or from Panera Bread!
9.) Have you ever struggled with food or your weight?
eh….I’m not really sure how to answer this question. In high school, I ate whatever I wanted. I just never thought about it. I played three sports, and I was skinny as a bean pole! When I went to college, I still ate what I wanted, but it started to take it’s toll because I wasn’t working out that much. I gained about ten pounds but it didn’t really bother me. I also have someone close to me that struggles with an eating disorder, and watching this person makes me NEVER want to go down that road. I think I have a healthy relationship with food. Sure I would love to tone up here and there, who doesn’t, but I am not actively TRYING to lose weight. I have trimmed up since I started running, but I don’t weigh myself often and just tend to go by how my clothes feel. I am 5’9″ so I will never be “tiny” and I am ok with that. I am curvy, and my husband likes it, so there. 🙂
10.) What kind of camera do you use?
I have a Nikon D5000 and I LOVE it. I am still so overwhelmed by it, but haven’t had time to learn all I want to know. Hopefully I can take a class soon to help me. My sweet husband got me a HUGE zoom lens for Christmas a couple years ago I have really had fun with, too!
11.) What brand of running clothes do you wear?
In case you haven’t noticed, I love running skirts from runningskirts.com! I wear asics running socks when not wearing RS compression socks, and I wear Asics and Mizzuno running shoes. I also wear moving comfort sports bras, and C9 champion gear from Target.
