4 Great “Days Out” For A Child’s Development

July 24, 2024 | Kids

Exploring the world as a family is not only great fun, it can do wonders for your child as well. Thankfully, you don’t have to explore the four corners of the Earth and hike up Mount Everest to say you’ve been on an adventure, sometimes just heading on a local day out can be a very helpful option.

Experiencing the world, seeing the wonder of what’s out there, and inspiring their imagination is all wonderful, but doing so in an educational setting, without strict academic formatting, can be a great idea too. After all, children tend to learn more through play and recreation, and so having a fun day out can be genuinely helpful to them and their development.

So, what days out should you consider? In this post, we’ll discuss some great options.

Museum Days

Museums are full of cool stuff to see and learn about, without feeling like a boring lesson. Natural history museums with huge dinosaur skeletons or models are always a hit with kids, or art museums where kids can see how people used to live through paintings and expression can be very stimulating. Some places even have interactive exhibits where your children can touch and play with displays, such as science think tank museums. It’s a great way to spark their curiosity about history, science, or art and have a good day out without it seeming like a an explicit school trip.

Aquarium Visits

Kids (and adults) can easily get lost watching colorful fish swim by or see weird and wonderful sea creatures up close. It’s genuinely like stepping into another world – most people who aren’t blown away by the ocean are probably desensitized to some degree. Many even aquariums have touch pools where kids can touch otters or starfish under supervision, while some even have shows with seals or dolphins. It’s a great way to teach the natural world first hand. Moreover, few of us actually go deep into the ocean, and so it’s not like you’ll stumble upon such creatures in your personal life. Why not check the Baltimore Aquarium hours today?

Local Farm/Petting Zoo Trips

Farms and petting zoos are great for giving city kids a taste of country life, because they get to see farm animals up close, and maybe even feed them or have a go at milking a cow. It’s a chance for kids to learn where their food comes from and how farms work, because unfortunately, unless they live in a rural environment, it’s easy for modern kiddos to be disconnected from such farm life.

Theatre Visits

Seeing stories come to life on stage is different from watching TV or movies, it’s a living and breathing story that can inspire anyone. Moreover, you don’t have to enjoy a super fancy show with huge artistic merit, even a fun musical will do, but perhaps that can turn into seeing classic plays or Shakespearean pieces. This can inspire children to read more, or even try acting themselves. Many theatres put on special shows for kids during school holidays too, and outdoor shows can be just as wonderful. Why not go this summer?

With this advice, you’re certain to enjoy the four greatest days out for your child’s development.

Some days, the scoreboard doesn’t look the way we Some days, the scoreboard doesn’t look the way we want it to, but that doesn’t change how proud we are. ❤️

Yesterday we didn’t win the championship, but that didn’t stop us from remembering what really matters, that our daughter is an amazing human who deserves to be celebrated even on the tough days. 🍧

Parents, it’s SO easy to get wrapped up in the game. Let’s always remember that our kids’ worth isn’t measured by a trophy or a score. Celebrate them. Encourage them. Love them unconditionally. ✨

They are enough. Always. 💛
