5 Essentials For Starting Your Fitness Journey

Whether you’re starting your fitness journey to lose weight, get in shape, or improve your overall health, there are certain things you need in order to set yourself up for success. From setting realistic goals to creating a schedule, here are the five essentials for starting your fitness journey.

Set Realistic Goals

One of the most important things you can do when starting your fitness journey is to set realistic goals. If your goal is too lofty, you’re likely to get discouraged and give up when you don’t see results as quickly as you’d like. On the other hand, if your goal is too small, you may not see enough of a difference to stay motivated. The best way to set a realistic goal is to start with a SMART goal: specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound.

Get The Right Workout Gear

Another essential for starting your fitness journey is to make sure you have the right workout gear. This doesn’t mean that you need the latest and greatest technology or designer labels; it just means that you need clothing and shoes that are comfortable and fit well so that you can move freely without worrying about chafing or blisters. I remember when I first started running, I wore cotton and I chafed so badly! If possible, try to ensure your jewelry is workout safe too. For example, you could consider engagement rings for active lifestyles at Whiteflash.com or an Apple Watch to track movement at iStore.com. Either way, your jewelry and workout gear should make your workouts easier and not cause any problems.

Join A Gym Or Find A Workout Partner

If working out at home isn’t doing it for you or you simply don’t have the space or equipment necessary to get a good workout, consider joining a gym or finding a workout partner. A gym membership gives you access to machines, free weights, and group classes led by certified instructors. And if working out alone isn’t motivating enough for you, find a friend or family member who will hold you accountable when it comes time to hit the gym or go for a run and who shares your fitness goals.

Re-Evaluate Your Diet

No matter how much weight you want to lose or how toned you want to become, diet plays a major role in reaching your fitness goals. So take some time to reassess what you’re eating daily and make changes where necessary to fuel your body with nutritious foods that will give you energy and help improve your overall health. There are plenty of resources available online and in bookstores to help guide you in making healthy choices when it comes to food.

Create A Schedule

Last but not least, one of the best ways to make sure that you stick with your fitness journey is to create a schedule and stick to it as much as possible. Carving out time each day or week dedicated solely to working out will help ensure that exercise remains a priority in your life no matter how busy things get. Add workouts into your calendar just like any other appointments; that way, they become non-negotiable commitments that must be kept!

Final Thoughts

Starting a fitness journey can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be! By following these five essential tips, you can set yourself up for success! Just remember to take things one step at a time and focus on small victories along the way; before long, those small victories will add up to big results!

Bobby’s Red Beans and Rice: 

INGREDIENTS
• 1/2 - 1 cup celery, about 3-4 ribs
• 1 Sweet Onion
• 1 Green Bell Pepper
• 2-4 cloves Garlic
• Seasoning, Tony’s, chili powder, pepper, bay leaf
• 1 tsp paprika
• 45 oz kidney beans
• 28 oz beef sausage, 2 packs
• 2 packs of Butterball Smoked Turkey Sausage
• 2 cup Beef broth
• Buttered Rice

PREPARATION STEPS
1. Chop/mince veggies (suggest food processor)

2. Warm butter on medium heat in pot then add veggies (about 10 minutes)

3. Add beans (slightly drain) and sausage (about 7 minutes)

4. Add garlic and seasoning and simmer about 10 minutes. 

5.) Serve over warm buttered rice

🏖️ I’m so thankful my parents took us on tr 🏖️ I’m so thankful my parents took us on trips growing up. When I was young, we didn’t have a lot of money, but they made every weekend getaway or camping trip special, and I have so many great memories.

When I was 12, I was worried a lot… worried about failing, scared of what people would think of me, and of not fitting in or being “cool”. 
I turned 40 this year and have been spending time trying to figure out exactly who I really am with all expectations stripped away. I don’t love the term “finding yourself”, but here I feel like it fits. ✨

Maybe finding yourself means going back to being 12.… and being myself without being scared. Heather at 12 would never believe this version of me… but I think she’d be proud. 💛✨
