6 weeks to 6 pack First Glance

March 23, 2011 | Uncategorized

Happy Hump day! I hope everyone is having a GREAT day today! It’s already ssooo hot here. High is 80. I just ran a quick 2 miles. I didn’t realize how hot it was and I had on yoga pants and a shirt with sleeves and I was DYING so I only made it 2 of my 3 miles. But then I came home and did my 6 week to 6 pack DVD.

This is my second week of the program and it’s no joke! The way it works is there are two levels (level one and level two obviously…) and you are supposed to do level one for three weeks, five times a week. She goes through one circuit two times during the workout. This is how it has broken down for me so far…

The first week I did level one 3 or 4 times I can’t remember, but I only went through the circuit once, to get used to it (incredibly sore abs after the first day forced my fate upon me). Then this week I have done it twice, going through the whole circuit. Doing this video five times a week is unrealistic for me for two reasons

1.) I like to run and do other workouts and not just the video

2.) I get bored easy.

That’s my honest answer! I realize I may not get the results promised, but a little toning before my cruise around the midsection is all I am after.

I have gotten a couple of questions regarding what I wear to do a workout like this. My running skirt? Haha! No, I haven’t done that…yet..I typically wear yoga type capri/knee pants and a tight fitting shirt. No, not because I want Jillian to think I am an awesome serious workout guru, but because I HATE when I am doing planks, etc. and my t-shirt flies up over my head and smothers me. Ok…so maybe I am being a little dramatic, but it’s annoying! So I typically wear something like this. Pleas ignore the messy bathroom, we just moved in, remember? I’m working on it!!!

My HOPE for this video is that there is enough difference in my mid section to justify posting before and after photos. Yes, I took the photos, no I am not showing you yet. Patience my friends. I need to see results!

Something else fun to tell you about, I got to have a blogger meet up yesterday! The lovely Cate from My Running Ambition was passing through my way on her way back to my old stomping grounds of NOLA where so recently moved. I was so excited she contacted me and quickly agreed to a Starbucks meet up!

It was so great to meet her, and we obviously have a lot in common! We talked about New Orleans, and I gave her a few pointers on the city and on having a significant other in law school! It felt like we were old friends and I hope I get to see her again soon! She was also nice enough to let me take her picture for the blog, of course! Say hi Cate! Isn’t she precious?

Ok I am going to do a little strength training, I have been neglecting it since we moved in. I wish they would hurry up and finish building the YMCA! I have a feeling it’s going to be a HOT summer!

QOTD: Do you like workout DVD’s? Which ones?

Let me know how that abs regime is working out for you: I’m looking for a kick-ass abs work out, but can’t seem to find one that really works!

I love this workout! I am like you, I would get bored doing it 5 times a week and right now I just haven’t had time to do that workout PLUS running or something else so I feel like I’m just not doing enough if I did just that 5 times… but I think it’s great regardless just to incorporate it into other things!

We thought about joining the YMCA as there’s one really close to us in our development, but the one here was SO freaking expensive and it’s tiny!! So we ended up with LA Fitness which is a little further which stinks, but cheaper and included more. Other Y’s I’ve seen though that are bigger would have been worth it but this one was so small they had to do their spin classes outside of the building!

haha! our Y is going to be small bc its inside our neighborhood, but b/c we live here we get it for like 39 bucks for the both of us which is pretty good. not sure what all its going to include, I just really want access to a treadmill elliptical and weights. its already getting so hot. but it wont be done till august. bummer!

That’s really good! They wanted $75 for both of us for this TINY gym!!! A little ridiculous!

I love Jillian michaels’ shred and shred it weights workout DVDs (minus a move or 2 in the shred w/weights DVD though). I’m like you and get easily bored so I like that there’re only 20-30 mins and I use them as a supplement to other stuff. I haven’t tried the 6 wk 6 pack though, I need to! Our cable company in Orlando has an on demand exercise channel with tons of free workouts. Jillian has a channel and they put all the level one workouts on it…whoo hoo for free stuff.

I can’t do any form of aerobics in a T-shirt either! I hate when the shirt hangs down or moves up during yoga and planks, ect. I like workout DVD’s (mostly Jillian ones or good ole’ Billy Blanks Tae Bo). I live in Florida so I love that I can do them in the air conditioning without paying a gym membership fee. Plus, I have two young kids so I can use them during nap time when there’s otherwise no time for a run outside.

I don’t have time for dvds, but would love some ab help. I do realize that I need to cut body fat too, though. Lol. I’ve gained like 10# since I started working!

My knees & Jillian do not get along right now, so those dvds are packed away in boxes! I would loveeee to find a dvd copy of the ol’ Billy Blanks Tae Bo for Beginners from the 90’s! And i’m soooo excited that you and Cate got to meet! I’ll definitely be in touch when i go to New Orleans again 🙂

Undeniably believe that which you stated. Your favorite
reason seemed to be on the net the easiest thing to be aware of.

I say to you, I certainly get irked while people think about worries that they just don’t know
about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side-effects ,
people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more.
    Thanks

I didn’t realize how much mental space hair removal was taking up until it just… wasn’t anymore. Between games, trips, and everything in between, having something I can do at home in minutes has been a total game changer. The app-guided treatments keep me consistent without having to think about it, and I’m already noticing smoother skin that actually lasts. And yes — the full-body, 10-minute-at-home situation still feels a little unreal.

If you’ve been on the fence, Prime Day (June 14–27) is definitely the moment to check it out with $120 off. #BraunSmartIPL

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.

Getting in a walk or run when I can. Actually drinking my water. Sticking to a skincare routine instead of overthinking it. Paying attention to my hair and scalp instead of just throwing it up and moving on. Nothing extreme, just consistency in the basics.

I’ve also been using Mochi Health for personalized skincare and hair support, and it’s made it way easier to stay on track without guessing what my skin or hair needs.
