We Love Boston

April 19, 2013 | motivation, running

I just wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who ran 4.09 miles this week for Boston. I got so many tweets, Facebook comments, and blog comments saying you ran, you prayed, you wished you could do more and I am so proud of each and every one of you.

DSC_2303

My 4.09 miles was less than stellar, but I did it. I was dehydrated, hadn’t eaten enough, and it was 85 degrees outside with super high humidity. I was miserable, and grumpy. I finally realized, this run isn’t for ME, this run is for those who can’t. For those laying in hospital beds, or those who can never run again. It was an eye opener for me and just the smack I needed to set myself and my pains/frustrations aside and focus on someone else and their needs. I ran and I prayed. I prayed for the victims and their families. For the medical and rescue personnel. For everyone who witnessed the horrifying scene of that day, and for our country as a whole. I prayed for the evil in the world to be brought to justice, and for love to be shown among neighbors and fellow Americans. Now is not the time to fall apart, but the time to come together as one and fight. It wasn’t my fastest or prettiest run, but it had the most heart.

prayforboston

So again, a huge thanks to those that ran, walked, biked, or wore a race shirt sometime this week. You are all awesome, and I am sure the people of Boston appreciate you. <3

So many horrible things have been happening….we also need to pray for those in West Texas and what they are going through.

Well spoken Heather! My 4.09 miles was not a great run either…super hot and humid. But I kept telling myself that this run wasn’t for me…and that got me through it. I wrote a couple of posts about Boston…this one was my initial reaction and thoughts. http://www.roadrunnergirl.com/2013/04/my-heart-is-in-boston.html
And the next day I had asked others to send me pics of their runs for Boston. Here is that amazing post. http://www.roadrunnergirl.com/2013/04/runners-united-for-boston.html

I’m so amazed by the the running community. I even know people who don’t run (ever) that jumped at the chance to be a part of the movement. There’s so much good in this world!

I did post on Boston. Haven’t known what to post about since, so it’s been sitting up on my blog all week. http://liveloveandrun.com/2013/04/triumph-overcomes-tragedy-bostonmarathon/

My 4.09 miles on tuesday were miserable also! At least I wasn’t the only one. I got out the door late in the day because my sinuses were all full when I woke up in the morning. Because of that I was hungry and the temps had gone to 89 degrees with high humidity. The thought of cutting short would enter my mind and then I would remember WHY I was running 4.09 miles and like you said, I just kept on moving one step at a time. My time was also slow but that part didn’t matter for once….

We spent the evening at Mountain Mile in Pigeon Fo We spent the evening at Mountain Mile in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and it was one of those simple, sweet evenings that just felt good.

Located right in the heart of Pigeon Forge, @mountainmilepf is an open-air shopping and entertainment area with gorgeous views of the Smoky Mountains (seriously—those views 😍). It’s super family-friendly, easy to walk around, and there’s so much to do without feeling overwhelming.

We wandered through cute boutiques and shops, played yard games, and just enjoyed being outside in such a pretty setting. There are over 40 shops and restaurants here—plus thrill rides if that’s your thing (we skipped them this time, but they looked fun!).

It’s one of those places where you can go slow, let the kids run around a little, sit and relax with a coffee, or get your shopping fix—all in one spot. And the giant lawn area with yard games? Perfect for kids (or tired parents 😅).

If you’re visiting the Smokies and want something fun and low-stress that everyone can enjoy, I definitely recommend adding Mountain Mile to your list.

🎯 Free parking
📍Central location in Pigeon Forge
👟 Easy to walk + stroller friendly
🍽️ Restaurants, snacks, coffee, and more (Azul was delicious!)
🛍️ Shops from boutique to big brand
🎡 Rides + a massive lawn space for kids to play

Let me know if you’ve been or are planning to go—I’d love to hear your favorite spots there! #mountainmilepartner

Before & after… and I’m honestly still in awe Before & after… and I’m honestly still in awe of the difference this rug made. 😁

I found it at @revival and couldn’t be happier — it’s soft underfoot, doesn’t shed (huge win), and is stain-resistant, which is exactly what we need in a house with kids and pets. It also came with free shipping and easy returns, which made the whole process so simple.

Made in Turkey and beautifully crafted, it feels like the perfect mix of style and practicality — especially for a home that sees a lot of paw prints. 🐾
