A no fun Valentine’s Day run

February 14, 2010 | Uncategorized

So we did our long run today, 10 miles. From the title you can guess that this wasn’t a good thing. I knew it wouldn’t be “great” because I am a morning runner, and we didn’t get to run till 1:45 in the afternoon, the WORST part of the day for me, the slump. boo! It was about 52 degrees, not too bad, but windy. yuck.

Here I am getting ready to go!

The first 6 miles were good, I held the pace I want to hold for the race, and I was happy with that. Then we hit mile 7, and my hip started hurting and Bobby’s hamstring started hurting. We are a pathetic little couple. We pushed through mile 7 and part of 8 and really started hurting and basically walked most of mile 10. I know I know, slackers! But we hurt ssoo bad! At least we finished and we are feeling accomplished, but not really “ready” for the race. Oh well, we can only do so much. Hopefully it will all be ok once adrenaline kicks in.
here are a couple pics from our run on part of the trail.
This is in front of the neighborhood

Bobby looking all cute

Oh yes, wanted to mention. I am part of a fun message board called Running of the Ears, for people who love running and Disney. Well the girls on there love running skirts, so we had a mouse”skirt”teers shirt made, they are super cute!
the back says “it all started with a skirt” and the front says “The Mouseskirteers”

No work for me tomorrow, thank you Presidents Day! Happy Valentine’s Day!

YAY you did it! Hope you aren’t sore tomorrow…and sorry about your hip and Bobby’s hamstring! What a bummer! I’m sure the half will be fine cause you are right…so much adrenaline will be pumping you won’t even notice!! Great job and I hope you enjoy your day off tomorrow!! :0)

thanks Karen! my hip didn’t hurt during the disney 1/2…but I think that was b/c I was so numb form the cold HAHA. But it sure hurt after.
I think after this race we are going to stick to 5k’s through the spring and summer till it gets cool again, then stat trying longer distances again. maybe our poor bodies will heal!

Bad runs come and go, you’ll be fine! Definitely the worst part about winter is the wind, I hate it.

I had a similar run today. I was doing great up until mile 6…but during miles 7 and 8, I did a bit of walking. Oh well, it happens. At least you got it done!

Unfortch, not every run will be a good one. It’s hard to admit that while you’re in it, but you finished – walking counts. You still got your mileage in. And it’s important to know when to NOT push yourself. You don’t want to hurt yourself! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I’m loving reading yours!

thanks for the encouragement, it just stinks to think you can handle it and then you have a bad run and you can’t do it, I am so competitive it just frustrates me to no end! I def. don’t want to injure myself though!

I’m so jealous that your husband runs. My boyfriend is planning on running the Chicago Marathon with me but he is no runner, and won’t even try to run until it’s at least 60 out. Your neighborhood looks great for running. Sorry to hear about the bum hip and hamstring.

thats actually not my neighborhood lol! I wish! we run to it from our house, the one we run in is huge and has trails too so its way better than my boring one loop neighborhood.
wow is he going to train for the marathon?

It’s been one month since my Virgin Voyages crui It’s been one month since my Virgin Voyages cruise and I’m still confused why no one is cooking gourmet food for me, or bringing me cocktails all day long. 😩

I had a super comfy bed with real cabin space, a tablet to control the lights, TV and curtains (I felt like a queen), and don’t even get me started on the food—every meal was ✨a moment.✨

Now I’m home reheating leftovers and wondering why my house doesn’t have mood lighting and a spa within walking distance.

10/10 would get spoiled again. 💅
