Big Changes (Again)

May 30, 2014 | blogging, Faith

Ok guys, so it has been admittedly a bit insane over here this past week. There are still some logistics to work out so I won’t go into the whole long story just yet, but…we are finally moving!

DSC_2133

from last time we moved in 2011. Oh, the boxes!

Yall, we have been here over three years, and it is three years too long. We realized quickly after moving this just wasn’t the place for us, but unfortunately is has taken all this time to work everything out, and there are STILL some kinks we are dealing with. However, the bottom line is we are moving back to Madison, MS (north of Jackson) TODAY!

It happened so fast after so long of NOTHING happening, and I have been slightly overwhelmed this week to say the least (packing, packing and more packing), but we are getting it done. I am quickly reaching my pregnant lady limits though and can’t do near as much lifting and packing as non pregnant Heather can do, and it has gotten me frustrated a few times.

DSC_2129

Even though we don’t have it all figured out yet, I am ecstatic to be moving back to a town I love, and a church we miss so, so much and totally took for granted when we were living there before moving down here. I promise I will share more as things unfold. I will try to keep the blog posts coming on weekdays as I have been, but please understand if I miss a couple days here and there, as we try to unpack and settle in to a new normal. I will of course be posting pictures on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter even on the weekends when I am not blogging.

We are so excited, please pray for us as we embark on a new adventure! Things have not exactly turned out as we planned, but even when we thought we couldn’t handle any more, God has always provided for us and we are so thankful!

QOTD: Have you ever moved on short notice before?

Oh girl, I hope the move is going smoothly for you guys! I have moved literally over 20 times in the last 7 years but only once with short notice.

Wow! I have moved on fairly short notice and also moved once when 7 months pregnant with my 4th child! And then across town when he was 7 days old! I am excited to hear about all that God has in store for you. Take care of yourself – I always love you blog, but put your health tops now. I know that there are lots of ladies in the blogosphere who exercise like crazy when pregnant and recover quickly and easily, but every pregnancy and every baby is different. It sounds like you really have been making great choices, but I just want to encourage you not to feel pressured by what others do, even after the baby comes. My first pregnancy was great and I walked every day and felt healthy. But that baby had colic and was tough and the next 6 months were really, really hard, as was my recovery from the delivery. The second one, I was on bed rest for the middle for months for sub-chorionic bleeding and when I could walk around, it hurt to even walk around the room. The third pregnancy, all my exercise was chasing around 3 kids under the age of 6 (adoption for number 3.) I was not fit like you before several of the pregnancies, but I guess I am just trying to say listen to your body and do what is best for you. There is a ton of external pressure and measuring up in the blogosphere. Being a mom is great, but the reality of it is often much tougher and grittier than would assume from other people’s blogs and Facebook. But it is a holy calling and you will be greatly blessed.

We are in the middler of packing and moving ourselves. Our new house won’t be ready until August so we have to live with my parents for two months. So I know exactly how you feel…. especially the part about doing it while pregnant.
    Best of luck!

I have moved many times in my life (Pastor’s kid and Missionary kid, and now Pastor’s wife!). It’s never easy, whether you have a lot of notice or not. But it does help you declutter and clean more! 🙂 praying for you as you make this move. I live in Madison! I would love to get together and talk running and Disney sometime! 🙂

We moved in the space of a month 1.5 years ago when we bought out new house. Had to get property managers to put our other house on the market as a rental too. It was very stressful so I kind of know how you feel. But glad that you are going back to an area that you already know and love! Good luck!

Unfortunately we can’t move out of New York because of my husband’s job, but we’re hoping to at least move out of our current situation sometime this summer. Good luck & I hope everything went well!

I would love to get together, and meet, when you move back. I first found your blog from some people you went to college with after they learned about my love of running, too. Sending you best wishes on moving!

I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just o I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just okay.” Like, fine in a pinch… but never something I craved. 👀

But then this little picnic happened—just me, my girl, and a sweet treat we both loved enough to fight over the last bite. 😅

We’ve been trying to be more mindful with food choices lately (especially with summer travel coming up), and I grabbed these So Delicious treats at Kroger kind of on a whim. The new packaging caught my eye, but it was the taste that totally surprised us. Creamy. Indulgent. No weird aftertaste. And no, we’re not fully dairy-free—and we still loved them.

It’s one of those little swaps that doesn’t feel like giving anything up.

And that? That’s a win for both of us. ✨@So_Delicious

🚨 Homeschool decision!! If you have been aroun 🚨 Homeschool decision!!

If you have been around here since Christmas time, then you know we pulled Emma Kate out of her private school after the first semester and put her in a hybrid homeschool for the spring. The main reason being we wanted more absences than the school allowed.

What is a hybrid? In our case, she went to a school all day 3 days a week, and we taught her at home two days a week.

It seemed like the best of both worlds, not having absences count since we were also her teachers, being able to stay home some, sleep in, and travel.

Well, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For one, the school we sent her to ended up not being what we thought. We were told being absent wouldn’t be a problem, but it became clear very early on her teacher was not a fan and she was not kind or accommodating to Emma Kate. There’s a lot of other reasons we didn’t blown the school I won’t go into. (If you are local and considering hybrid feel free to dm me and I will share my concerns and grievances.)

Teaching your kid is hard. There were lots of tears and frustrations, and she got bored since Bobby and I also work from home/I’m not a stay at hoke mom. We couldn’t just sit with her all day and teach her with our crazy long hours owning two businesses.

It was tough to keep a schedule and while getting to travel a lot was great, she didn’t thrive on not having a routine and struggled with the randomness of everything.

She is also a very social only child who missed her friends and also wants to play sports for her school.

In the end while there were a lot of pros to hybrid homeschool, the cons outweighed them for us so we are returning to her old school in the fall.

Am I glad we did it? Yes! I always would have wondered otherwise and now we know. We will still be pulling her out of school some to travel in the fall, just not as much.

If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer the best I can! 🩷
