Disney Day 1, February 2015

March 11, 2015 | Disney, family, runDisney, Travel

Now that I have recapped my runDisney experience, I wanted to share a bit of what we did on the other days we were in Disney World last month. We had a really great time and got to see a lot of friends!

We landed on Thursday around lunch, hopped on Disney’s Magical Express, and were off to our resort.

We stayed at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside resort in the alligator bayou section.

We were a pretty good hike from the main building and food court, which I only minded on the really cold days!

As soon as we got to our room, we hopped on the courtesy shuttle I had arranged, and were brought to the car care center to rent our car. We love that Disney provides free transportation from it’s resorts, but sometimes the buses take FOREVER so we have found it saves time and our sanity to rent a car when staying all week. After getting the car, we hopped over to the race expo, then made a quick stop back at our room to change for dinner at California Grill. We parked at the Contemporary then walked over to the Magic Kingdom to get my annual pass and do a couple of other quick housekeeping things.

We were just in time to see the flag get lowered, something I have never seen before.

IMG_2888

We walked back over to the contemporary and were seated for dinner. I love this time of day up there, the view was just breathtaking.

And my drink wasn’t too bad either! After a long day of travel, I finally felt like I could relax.

IMG_2891

I had a delicious filet, and Bobby had sushi of course.

We hopped back in our car after dinner and headed back to the resort. (If we had taken Disney transportation we would have needed to walk back to the Magic Kingdom, THEN catch a bus. I needed to be rolled out of the restaurant so I am glad I had the car!) When we got back we went to the food court to sit and chat and I got a mickey bar for my dessert. Well worth the wait I tell ya!

We were old people and went to bed early. We had a big day planned for EPCOT the next day!

QOTD: Have you ever eaten at California Grill? Do you ever rent a car in Disney World?

Great start to your trip! I love California Grill, we went for the first time on our last trip (twice!), the sushi is AMAZING! Looking forward to reading more…

I still can’t believe we never ran into each other at the resort! I’ve never eaten at the Contemporary but I might have to plan that for next time!

My parents always rented a car at WDW because we like to eat off property a lot. Before the WDW half last year, we ordered to go dinners from the Macaroni Grill and it was just what I needed.

We celebrated my first half marathon at California Grill last January. It was the perfect meal for a celebration, and the view was spectacular. We got there just in time for sunset and took pictures out on the rooftop terrace with MK in the background.

PS – We always rent a car at Disney. I cannot stand the buses!

Yes to both! I love the California Grill-it’s always a toss up on whether to eat there at sunset or during the fireworks! We always rent a car too if we are going to be there more than a couple of days. Though what was really sweet was the few years my younger sister lived in Orlando and worked at Disney and she would chauffeur us around 🙂

Looks like such a fun day! I had no idea the sunset was so pretty that day since I was sick. Bummed that I missed it!

Yumm Cali Grill! Jason’s been asking for sushi ever since him and Bobby talked about it! Guess we need to have a sushi night! LOL

Gets me every single time. 🥹 🚢 We just set sail Gets me every single time. 🥹 🚢

We just set sail on the Disney Wonder for a magical 3 night west coast sailing! But the fun won’t stop when we disembark, we will be continuing the trip to Disneyland so don’t go anywhere! All the fun is happening right now in my stories! (And saved to a highlight if you miss some!)

A huge thanks to Disney and @bestdayevervacay for making this possible and sending us on this trip! ✨

#ad Turns out my patio didn’t need a full makeover #ad Turns out my patio didn’t need a full makeover… it just needed the right planters 🌿

I walked into @loweshomeimprovement (garden center = instant mood boost) and found these allen + roth & planters that look designer but are actually budget-friendly. Exactly the kind of upgrade I love: big impact without the big price tag.

Swipe to see the before → after because WOW. New planters + fresh plants completely brought this space back to life. I love how versatile they are too, perfect for patios, porches, or even indoors. If your outdoor space is looking a little… tired (same 😅), this is your sign to refresh it for spring.

Grab them in-store at Lowe’s or through the link in my bio 🔗

Tour of a 2 bedroom villa at Disney’s Saratoga Spr Tour of a 2 bedroom villa at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa in Walt Disney World! ☀️

Things we love about staying in a 2 BR villa as opposed to a “regular” hotel room:
-Tons of space (we shared with my parents)
-full kitchen/full fridge and freezer
-washer and dryer
-full living room and dining area
-multiple bathrooms

Things we ❤️ about this resort in general:
-Can walk to Disney Springs from certain buildings
-Multiple pools and slides
-cheaper than most other villas
-Rooms seem more spacious than some villas
-Peaceful/golf course/lots of landscaping/walking paths
-Has a spa!

It’s Friday. Jesus is praying. Peter’s a sleeping. It’s Friday.
Jesus is praying.
Peter’s a sleeping.
Judas is betraying.
But Sunday’s comin’.

It’s Friday.
Pilate’s struggling.
The council is conspiring.
The crowd is vilifying.
They don’t even know that Sunday’s comin’.

It’s Friday.
The disciples are running
Like sheep without a shepherd.
Mary’s crying.
Peter is denying.
But they don’t know that Sunday’s a comin’.

It’s Friday.
The Romans beat my Jesus.
They robe him in scarlet.
They crown him with thorns.
But they don’t know that Sunday’s comin’.

It’s Friday.
See Jesus walking to Calvary.
His blood dripping.
His body stumbling.
And his spirit’s burdened.
But you see, it’s only Friday.
Sunday’s comin’.

It’s Friday.
The world’s winning.
People are sinning.
And evil’s grinning.

It’s Friday.
The soldiers nail my Savior’s hands to the cross.
They nail my Savior’s feet to the cross.
And then they raise him up next to criminals.

It’s Friday.
But let me tell you something,
Sunday’s comin’.

It’s Friday.
The disciples are questioning.
What has happened to their King.
And the Pharisees are celebrating
That their scheming has been achieved.
But they don’t know It’s only Friday.
Sunday’s comin’.

It’s Friday.
He’s hanging on the cross.
Feeling forsaken by his Father.
Left alone and dying.
Can nobody save him?
Ooooh It’s Friday.
But Sunday’s comin’.

It’s Friday.
The earth trembles.
The sky grows dark.
My King yields his spirit.
It’s Friday.
Hope is lost.
Death has won.
Sin has conquered and Satan’s just a laughin’.

It’s Friday.
Jesus is buried.
A soldier stands guard.
And a rock is rolled into place.
But it’s Friday. It is only Friday.
Sunday is a comin’! ☀️
