4th of July Plans + Virtual Race

June 15, 2015 | blogging, family, fitness, holidays, running

I love holidays, so in my mind it’s never too early to start planning for the 4th of July! This year we have a lot going on, but I’m really excited.

First of all, Gone for a RUN is hosting another great virtual run. This one is a four mile race. Just sign up, receive your race packet in the mail, and run, walk, or crawl the 4 miles on the course of your choice during the race window. In exchange you will receive a REAL finisher’s medal! You will also get a race shirt (either a Women’s Athletic Tank Top, Men’s Lifestyle Tee or Youth Short Sleeve Tee), real race bib (no downloads!) and a car magnet.

Race will be held July 2nd-5th.
In order to ship your race packet in time for the race, please register by June 22nd. Here is a close up of the medal. I love it!

If my quad is cooperating, then I plan to run the local Watermelon 5k in Jackson. It’s a big fun race but it’s going to be super hot I’m sure so we will see what happens.

Also, our life group from church is having a 4th of July party. We will have BBQ, slip n slide for the kids, and everyone is dressing up in their red, white, and blue. It’s going to be so much fun, I can’t wait. I love dressing up for themed parties so this is right up my alley. Here are a couple photos from years past:

QOTD: What are you doing for 4th of July?

Disclosure: as a Gone for a RUN ambassador I received a free entry into this race, however all opinions are my own.

Fun! We do a 4th of July 4-miler every year and it’s stroller friendly and it has a kids run!

This will be my first ever virtual run. I will be away visiting family for the holiday, so this is a perfect way to fit In a race.

Florida doesn’t have too many races during the summer, so I think I’m going to do the virtual 5k. Love the medal and the shirt!

I’m excited for this one! Love patriotic things and races centered around the 4th! I’m also running a local 4 miler on the 4th (will be crazy hot but should be fun)!

I don’t have much plans yet but we’re having a fun lunch at work on the 2nd. Of course I’ll run on the 4th and listen to my America playlist since that’s a must 🙂

So many people I know follow and like posts and st So many people I know follow and like posts and stories from content creators, but when it’s people they know in real life….forget about it. All of the sudden, we just don’t need or deserve the support. We just get lurkers. 💔

Women, I encourage you in 2026 to find a table where women champion other women. And I encourage all the ladies here to be a girl’s girl. There is room for everyone, and we ALL need a little support, even those that look like they have it all together.

Let’s commit to helping each other on AND offline. A simple smile, an “I love your dress” or “your kid did great in the school play” or “hang in there, you got this!” Goes a long way.

I will never understand people going out of their way to intentionally bypass a person online or in real life. People matter. It’s a tough time of year for a lot of people, so let’s all act like the friends we claim to be and be there for each other however we can. ❤️
