Tampa Tuesdays: SeaWorld with a Toddler

January 31, 2017 | baby, blogging, family, Tampa, Travel

*As I mentioned before, my Tampa Tuesday blog posts won’t include just Tampa, but others places nearby/in Florida, so please don’t be confused and think SeaWorld is now in Tampa, it’s definitely still in Orlando.

seaworld with a toddler (2)

1.) Bring your own stroller: While SeaWorld Orlando does have stroller rentals, they are of the plastic variety. While this works just find for a little bit older kids, if you have a toddler that will nap in a stroller, plan to bring your own for more comfort. We tied a bright ribbon around the handle of our stroller so it was easy to find when exiting shows.

2.) Save the Shamu Happy Harbor playground for the afternoon: There is a huge, fun play area just for kids at the back of the park called Shamu Happy Harbour. I knew I wanted Emma Kate to experience this, but I also knew if we did it first thing, I would NEVER get her out of there! This is a large area that was never very crowded when we were there, so I suggest doing some things first that may have long lines early in the day, then head over to the kids area right before or right after nap (we went after). Keep in mind they DO have a splash pad area which is great for hot summer days, but bring extra clothes if you want your child to be able to play in the water.

3.) There are “sleeping baby” areas at the shows, use them!: I LOVED this idea and we ended up using it ourselves! When you walk to the top of the stadium up the path at most of the shows, you then get to a walkway that goes across the whole top row that overlooks all the seating. If you have a sleeping baby/toddler you don’t want to take out of your stroller, you can wheel them right up to the stadium and park them behind the back row and stand to watch the show while your child sleeps. Emma Kate fell asleep in her stroller at one point and we didn’t want to miss the last sea lion show of the day, so we used the sleeping baby area and it worked beautifully. It also made it easy for us to be the first ones out after the show was over and avoid the crowds of people exiting the theater.

4.) Make a plan around show times, but space them out: Each show only happens a certain number of times a day, so pick the ones you want to see, and rank them in order of most important to least important. Keeping in mind as the day goes on your toddler will get more cranky and restless, you may end of having to skip one of two shows, and you don’t want it to be your favorite one! Also, try not to go straight from one show to another without giving your toddler a chance to run around and get out the wiggles. We tried to avoid the stroller when we knew she needed to get some energy out and it worked well for us.

5.) Split up if necessary: Remember that sometimes it’s ok for the whole family to not stick together. Some space can even be good on a hot day. Bobby wanted to ride one of the roller coasters, so Emma Kate and I went for a walk to find some food while Bobby went on the ride. He later went on it again when Emma Kate was napping and I took the opportunity to sit down, check my phone, and do some people watching. Be sure to pick a spot to meet up afterwards though so no one gets lost!

Disclosure: I was given two free one day tickets to visit SeaWorld, however all opinions are mine.

Sea World used to have great strollers, not sure why they went to the plastic yucky ones. I do love their shows! Need to plan a trip! Did you know teachers xan get a free year long pass every year?

Brings me back to the days when I used to go as a kid! Every year for my birthday. Do they still have the place where you can buy fish and feed the dolphins? That was my favorite (and the Orcas of course!)!

Not sure about buying fish, but you can pay to feed the dolphins!

Totally think I read your comment incorrectly but I get it now ?

I started noticing little signs during my normal day. Just occasional bloating, gas, and that slightly “off” feeling. So instead of ignoring it, I listened. I slowed down, moved more consistently, and added Align Probiotic to my routine.

It’s one capsule a day and the #1 doctor-recommended probiotic brand for over 15 years‡. I started taking Align to help relieve my occasional gas, bloating, and stomach discomfort* and now I feel more comfortable moving through my day. @alignprobiotic

And now… it finally will be. 🤍

We’re not leaving Tennessee, just making a local move that puts us closer to my daughter’s school, closer to our day-to-day life, and honestly closer to the version of life I’ve been hoping for since we moved here. (Aka not so much time in the car!)

Still Knoxville. New chapter. Lots of boxes. Please pray. 🏡📦

Between dogs, snacks that never make it to a plate, and whatever is happening in my entryway on a daily basis… I needed something that could actually keep up in one go. This one’s been doing the heavy lifting so I’m not doing 12 different cleanups for the same mess.

Life doesn’t happen in neat, single-surface moments. From pet hair to crumbs to tracked-in grass, real homes have layered messes. The BISSELL PowerClean DualBrush™ is designed to handle it all in one pass without switching tools or going over the same spot twice.

Promotion: List Price $359.99, on sale for $259.99 ($100 off) from 4/5–5/30. Limited time only, don’t miss it. Link in bio to shop while the deal lasts 👀

I clipped the 4x fuel points digital coupon on the Kroger app, grabbed a Mastercard gift card at Kroger, and turned a quick errand into a little win-win situation by adding in a handmade colored card and personalized note. She gets to pick exactly what she wants. 💛

I get 4X fuel points while I’m already out running around (because of course I am). Simple, thoughtful, and honestly kind of perfect.
Head to your local Kroger, clip the coupon, and grab a Visa or Mastercard gift card, but the offer is only good through May 12! Link is in my bio!

#ZbarPartner I know these days won’t last forever, #ZbarPartner I know these days won’t last forever, so I’m soaking up every driveway game, every laugh, every little break in the grass. 🤍

Lately our go-to has been Zbar Protein Snack Bars, especially the new Strawberries ‘N Creme flavor that is made with organic whole grain oats, real fruit, and protein to help support growing kids. It’s a snack she loves and I feel good about too.

It’s a great little reset so she can get right back to doing what she does best, playing her heart out 💕

Getting older, I started noticing my hair wasn’t q Getting older, I started noticing my hair wasn’t quite the same. A little more thinning, my scalp hasn’t felt the same, and I’ve spent more time just throwing it up into a ponytail, and honestly not giving it much thought beyond that. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So I started becoming more intentional about actually taking care of my hair and scalp, and it’s such a small shift, but it really does make me feel better.

I’ve been using Mochi Health’s personalized hair support options, which makes it easier to stay consistent instead of guessing what to use. It fits into my routine and finally feels like I’m doing something proactive for myself instead of just hiding it in a bun. Check out the link in my bio for $40 off your first month.
