More of Castaway Cay Day 1

July 19, 2010 | Uncategorized

SO where I last left you we had made it out to quiet, peaceful, and empty Serenity Bay

The water was SO CLEAR you could see straight to the bottom

you can tell it’s the first day by how pale I am!

our little “set up.” In the background are cabanas you can rent for an insane amount of money

silly dad

My dad and I walked up to the bar area to get the drink of the day. They also have little people that walk down the beach taking dirnk orders

This is my FAVORITE picture of the whole cruise. PARADISE!

The adult beach had it’s own little outdoor restaurant/BBQ place so we didn’t ahve to go back to the main area/kid area to eat. Here is dad outside the eating area. They had dessert, too! soft serve ice cream cones and cookies, fruit, ribs, burgers, etc.

more relaxing. We drug the chairs down to the water

Bobby found some sort of sea creature. Don’t worry, we put him back

That’s all for now! It’s raining so I am going to go hop on the elliptical and life some hand weights (not at the same time of course!) Hope everyone has a good evening. Hoping to run in the morning!

QOTD: Do you like to look for shells/creatures/etc. in the ocean?

Amazing! I love that place! :0) You got some great pictures! Sitting in the ocean in the beach chairs looks like fun! I bet it felt great, too! That picture from the hammock is like the one I have as a desktop background right now!

yeah it was too hot to jsut sit up in the sun for more than 5 minutes. in the shade it was ok for about 15 minutes, so we decided to just park it in the water!

LOVE the pictures. When I went to florida this summer for the first time ever, we stayed in longboat key and I LOVED it. I was so obsessed with finding sand dollars in the water…but unfortunately I didn’t want to go out far enough to get any. But someone mean left some on the beach to roast so I of course took them home with me to give a nice home and bleach them to look better. It was better than letting them just sit on the beach black the whole time! 🙂

My husband LOVES going out deep and exploring and finding things, he found some really neat stuff, too, and ton of sand dollars! Glad you liked FL!

We take her on these trips and cruises hoping she’ll soak in the adventure, the beauty, and maybe even the food from places different from where we live… but to her, nothing beats a corn dog and mac & cheese. 🧀

And honestly, that’s the best reminder for us, that joy doesn’t have to be fancy, it just has to be yours. 🛳✨

YES I was dancing, eating mac and cheese from the YES I was dancing, eating mac and cheese from the kids menu, and singing “Let it Go” with a butter knife while wearing Mickey ears on our Disney cruise. 🚢

When I was 12, I was worried a lot… worried about failing, scared of what people would think of me, and of not fitting in or being “cool”.
I turned 40 this year and have been spending time trying to figure out exactly who I really am with all expectations stripped away. I don’t love the term “finding yourself”, but here I feel like it fits. ✨

Maybe finding yourself means going back to being 12.… and being myself without being scared. Heather at 12 would never believe this version of me… but I think she’d be proud. 💛✨

Ever wondered what extra magic you can add for a b Ever wondered what extra magic you can add for a birthday onboard a @disneycruiseline ship? 🚢

Emma Kate turned 11 last month during our sailing and we did so many birthday things! She got a ton of “happy birthday’s” from crew and guests to make it extra special. ✨

👉🏻For a link to the birthday ears she wore (they have lots of colors and variations!) comment “EARS” and I will send it to you!

IYKYK. I finally figured it out…the night before IYKYK. I finally figured it out…the night before we got off the ship. 😆

This is 11. ✨🎉 Not sure how this happened, b This is 11. ✨🎉

Not sure how this happened, but time snuck up on me and now I have an 11 year old. 🥹
We couldn’t think of a more fun place to celebrate that on Castaway Cay, Disney’s private island in the Bahamas.

She started the day with presents, then hours and hours in the sun on the island, followed by cake and singing at dinner, the tween club, and fireworks at sea! (They were for pirate night but we said they were birthday fireworks!)

Happy birthday to the most fierce, kind, competitive, loyal, funny, and beautiful little girl I know. 🩷 Never change who you are and stop growing up so fast! So. Blessed to have the best title there is, Emma Kate’s mom. 💖
