Pre Trip

August 29, 2010 | Uncategorized

Happy Sunday all! It’s really overcast here but only 77 degrees, I can’t believe it! It’s supposed to be raining…but it’s not. Just home from church, and have a baby shower to go to later on today!

I thought that since I am so excited about my trip I would spend some time telling you all about it! I can’t wait, we need to get away so badly!

We are staying for 7 nights at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa in the main building, concierge level.
(yes I took these pictures!)

For those unfamiliar, concierge at the Grand involves food being out most of the day..breakfast, afternoon snacks, tea and scones, dinner appetizers, champagne, wine, cordials and desserts later, etc. The lounge is so nice, I love sitting there listening to the piano or orchestra play in the evenings, overlooking the lobby.

All of the fall decorations will be out

We will be attending the first Mickey’s not so scary Halloween party of the season! We went two years ago and had a blast. Nothing like trick-or-treating in the Magic Kingdom!

We will be on the Deluxe Dining plan, which means lots and lots of food!
Bobby savoring his lobster at Narcoossees

We will be going down a day early to drop the girls off with my parents who are so graciously dogsitting for us! Then we are driving halfway, to Talahassee, to spend the night in hotel. The Saint home opener is that night and there is NO WAY I was missing it! Friday morning we will drive the rest of the way and be in our happy place for 7 nights!

I will be twittering and updating my FB pages, so if you are not following me youcan do so on the right sidebar of this blog. I will try to blog if I can but I will have to do it on my phone and may not be very successful. (I am too cheap to pay 10 bucks a day just to blog, sory guys!)

Today is a rest day, tomorrow marks my first official day of marathon training! eekk! I will be updating my marathon training tab/page so you can keep track of my workous on there!

QOTD: what do you do with your pets when you go out of town?

Wow! I have to save up for the Disney Marathon in 2012 now! 🙂 I want to stay at the Floridian then; your fault! 😉

My dog actually always travels with me. For the New York Marathon I can’t take him with me, so I asked a friend to take care of him. 🙂 I feel so bad leaving him…

The Grand is expensive, but if you can get a good deal it is totally worth it! I love it, it IS Disney to me!
I wish my dogs could come with me but I know grandma and grandpa will take good care of them!

Man alive.. I am jealous of all of your Disney trips!! I just love love love Disney! We leave our dog at a doggy hotel. Trixie loves it there. She probably gets more attention there, than at home.

ahaha! I am too chicken to leave my dogs at a doggie hotel. They get so scared when not with someone they know!

I have a marathon training question. I am a newbie so forgive me if the answer is obvious. How will you continue your training plan at Disney? I am training for my first half and we are going on the Disney cruise for 7 nights (a 4 night and a 3 night back to back). I am afraid I will be completely derailed by the cruise. Any help is appreciated!!! Now I am ready to go to Disney World too!

hello! no problem! my training plan is 16 weeks long. The January marathon is about 18 weeks away. I built in two weeks of “cushion” in case of illness, injury, ot vacation. right now I do two shorter runs a week, a long run, and cross train twice. So, I will still get up and do my two days of shorter runs, and since we will be walking the parks a ton that will be my “cross training.” As far as my long run goes, I will just stick another short run in and catch back up the next week. That way I am still doing some running from my schedule and maintaining, I jus won’t be long running. Does that even make sense? lol! Please let me know if you have any other questions!

I’m so jealous you’re staying at the Grand! I’ve only stayed at Disney’s Pop Century, since I usually stay 10 days (and up until this year, I was a poor college student). Next year, I’m going to upgrade to the Yacht Club Resort (my boyfriend and I are officially working folk). I totally wish to stay at the Grand..or the Animal Kingdom lodge one day. I hope you have a blast!

Found your blog on the dis boards and have found it very interesting. You are a very inspiring woman. Although I am a lot older than you, I am now motivated to get up and powerwalk (not up to running just yet) a few miles! Congrats on going back to The Grand! That is definitely my home away from home! My husband and I will be back at The Grand in December – first time for the Christmas decorations! Enjoy the Saints/Vikings game. I am a N.O. girl living in Mandeville. We will not be going to the game, but will be in N.O. for the parade that day. WHO DAT!! Have a great trip and I look forward to more of your posts!

I’m not suggesting you go into debt to go on vac I’m not suggesting you go into debt to go on vacation. But I am suggesting you remember that time is something you can’t get back, and memories are something that will stay with you longer than things. 🚢

As we enter the holiday season, maybe it’s time to consider that long overdue vacation instead of quite so many things under the tree? Maybe a few less items for some time away to rest and recharge with loved ones?

@disneycruiseline is great for just that because they truly have something for everyone, from babies, kids, to adults. The cruise we just went on included beach time, pool time, an obstacle course, lots of eating, basketball, foosball, ping-pong, movie, watching, scavenger hunt finding, pirates (the nice kind!), ice cream, and so much more. ✨🫶🏻

Always happy to answer questions about the most magical cruise line around!
