A New Venture

August 4, 2015 | blogging

Hey guys! I can FINALLY share with you what we have had in the works since oh…the end of FEBRUARY! This has been a long, slow road and I really hope it will be worth all the stress in the end.

Bobby and I are proud to be the newest owners of Orange Leaf frozen yogurt here in Mississippi!!

We bought an existing franchise from someone looking to sell, so we did not have to deal with finding a site, completing a build out, and all of that fun stuff…but this did come after having to do a TON of negotiating, front end work, and training in Oklahoma. There were some tears shed and angry words said, but we FINALLY signed the paperwork and will takeover on Monday.

The next few weeks will be interesting, and very busy as we learn a new normal (we will be self managing the store) and balancing our time with my two existing jobs (blog and travel work). Please be understanding if I miss a day here and there blogging over the next few weeks, I promise I’m not going anywhere!

Orange Leaf2

We have been warmly welcomed into the Orange Leaf family, and I hope for you local readers, you will stop by and say hello and support our business! Please keep us in your prayers as we get this thing going! Also, hopefully I won’t gain 20 pounds in the first month. I love me some froyo.

QOTD: Have you ever taken a big business risk? Do you own a business?

First of all…yummy! Secondly…congrats! I married into a family business and while it can be stressful there are obviously some perks as well. As an outsider looking in, it seems like one key is to hire good people to work for you. I wish you guys the beat of luck and I wish I was local so I could come sample the goods.

It’s def. hard to find good people when most of your employees are a younger crowd but we are on the hunt!

Congratulations! It’s exciting and scary. We bought two Lenny’s Sub Shops last November (my husband’s boss was looking to sell and retire, and offered us first dibs). It WAS a long, hard, emotional road, but it’s pretty awesome saying “yup, we own that store.” Good luck! Y’all will do fine!

Congrats! My husband and sister both have their own businesses and both work incredibly hard to do so. Hubs works constantly because as the owner, the buck stops with him. (and problems arise often and must be addressed) My sister always tells me how hard it is for her to step away for a vacation. Anyway, best wishes with the new endeavor!

It will be hard esp at first, but hopefully we will still be able to vacation!

So many people I know follow and like posts and st So many people I know follow and like posts and stories from content creators, but when it’s people they know in real life….forget about it. All of the sudden, we just don’t need or deserve the support. We just get lurkers. 💔

Women, I encourage you in 2026 to find a table where women champion other women. And I encourage all the ladies here to be a girl’s girl. There is room for everyone, and we ALL need a little support, even those that look like they have it all together.

Let’s commit to helping each other on AND offline. A simple smile, an “I love your dress” or “your kid did great in the school play” or “hang in there, you got this!” Goes a long way.

I will never understand people going out of their way to intentionally bypass a person online or in real life. People matter. It’s a tough time of year for a lot of people, so let’s all act like the friends we claim to be and be there for each other however we can. ❤️

This one is great for busy folks who want to make a “special” drink without too much fuss. 🎄

It’s literally just water frozen in the bottom of a glass with some rosemary taped in it. I waited a few hours the poured in some Prosecco and added in edible glitter (you can use multiple colors!) pretty and delicious, and keeps your drink cold! Cheers! 🥂 ❄️
