A Royal Welcome

February 25, 2012 | Disney, fitness, running, Running Skirts, Travel, Uncategorized

Hello Friends! What a day! y time in WDW has been amazing so far thanks to runDisney and FitFluential. There is still a whole lot more in store so stay tuned. I am Tweeting as much as I can but I have NO cell service in certain areas so I am sorry for the delay sometimes!

———————–

Thursday morning my dad dropped me off at the airport at 6 for my 8:40 flight. I landed and hopped on Magical Express and checked into Animal Kingdom Lodge. The good news is I had a savannah view room, but the bad news is it was all the way at the very end of the hall. Those of you familiar with AKL know what I am talking about. It’s quite the hike!

I even brought my stalker zoom lens and made a few new friends off my balcony.

I texted the lovely Kelly Olexa, and we decided to head to the pool for lunch and relaxation.

After an hour or two, Meghann arrived and joined us at the pool. Kelly had to do some work, so Meghann and I decided to hit up Animal Kingdom. We had time before dinner and a 4 day park hopper to use!

It was interesting being at the park so late when most people were leaving.

Meghann rode Everest (I don’t like dark rides) by using our awesome media fastpass that lets you get a fastpass for the current time. it. is. awesome.

We split a soft pretzel (so glad we did later, we ate LATE!) and headed back to the hotel to get ready for dinner. We met the others in the group in the lobby. But first, we had a goody bag in our rooms!

cheese!

we had an amazing time with amazing people and ate amazing food!  Callie, Meghann, Kelly, me, Brittney, and Christie. Ok, time for the expo, (I am writing this Friday) more later!

QOTD: What is your favorite place to dine in WDW?

I don’t know if it’s my favorite, but I definitely had quite the experience at the Ohana when my friend and I were picked to stand up in front of the restaurant with fast food hats on and carry a pineapple around the restaurant. They set us up! 😛

Ahh so fun! I’ve never heard of those media fast passes! You better take advantage of that! Keep trying to tweet, I’m living vicariously through you this weekend! 🙂

I was there last year and soooo wish I was able to go back this year! Take pictures of some of the great shirts at the expo – those of us stuck at home are all living vicariously through you!! I love the sparkly tank I purchased last year (and the OneMoreMile stall had shirts and tanks with some terrifically funny sayings on them! 🙂 ). My medal is absolutely beautiful and i will always treasure it. We stopped at every mile marker and took pictures, as well as with almost every character. It was definitely about the experience and not the time – hope you and all your friends have a magical time!!!

Looks like you’re having fun so far! I’m super jealous that you get to run a half marathon around Disney World anyway, much less the goodie bag and amazing food :). Enjoy yourself and take it all in!

If you’re planning a trip to Florida’s Forgotten C If you’re planning a trip to Florida’s Forgotten Coast, save this one. 🌊 #RentingTheCoastPartner

We stayed at Singing Waves in Cape San Blas, and it was everything we wanted in a beach getaway: beautiful views, plenty of space, and the kind of place that makes you slow down and actually enjoy vacation.

What really stood out, though, was Renting the Coast. They’re a locally owned, family run company that manages vacation homes throughout Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe, Mexico Beach, and the surrounding Forgotten Coast communities.

Instead of managing hundreds of properties, they intentionally keep their inventory smaller so they can provide a more personal experience for both guests and homeowners. They’re known for being accessible, responsive, and focused on making sure every stay goes smoothly.

If Cape San Blas has been on your travel list, Singing Waves is absolutely worth checking out, and so is Renting the Coast’s collection of homes along Florida’s most underrated stretch of coastline. ☀️

I didn’t realize how much mental space hair removal was taking up until it just… wasn’t anymore. Between games, trips, and everything in between, having something I can do at home in minutes has been a total game changer. The app-guided treatments keep me consistent without having to think about it, and I’m already noticing smoother skin that actually lasts. And yes — the full-body, 10-minute-at-home situation still feels a little unreal.

If you’ve been on the fence, Prime Day (June 14–27) is definitely the moment to check it out with $120 off. #BraunSmartIPL

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️
