August 2014 Flashback Post

August 11, 2015 | baby, blogging, family

Good morning guys! Today is a little bit hectic but I did want to pop in and say hello, and please hang with me as my posting may be a lit erratic over the next week as we takeover our local Orange Leaf location. We would appreciate your thoughts and prayers this week, it’s going to be wild!

The other day, my timehop app told me we had been in our house for a YEAR (am I the only one who has a love/hate relationship with timehop?) That one really blew my mind. I remember it so vividly, and it really surprised me how fast this past year has gone as we prepared for baby Emma Kate’s arrival.

The day we moved in, we had NO AIR CONDITIONING in our house. August, in Mississippi, is very very hot. We had fans going and were trying to make it as cool as possible, but it was bad. I felt so bad for the movers, they worked so hard to get everything into our new home.

As we were moving in, we also went through a big huge mess with AT&T and Comcast that went on for two weeks. We had to wait on hold for many many hours during this time. Here we are both on the phone trying to get answers. Do not mess with a pregnant woman!

I also cant believe my baby girl was still baking this time last year. So crazy now that we “know” her to think I was just walking around with her all those months. Taking our weekly update photos was fun, and I loved comparing them to the week before. Also, I really miss my long hair.

34weeks bump

After we moved in we did a lot of unpacking and I finally got to do some much needed nesting. I really enjoyed getting the nursery together and making it a fun, pretty space for Emma Kate.

A not so fun thing that happened last August: I ended up in the hospital with preterm labor. I had a UTI that was causing contractions. After some hospital monitoring, IV antibiotics, and two of the most painful shots I have ever had to stop labor, we were sent on home.

I get tired just thinking back to this month last year. I wanted to have the house all unpacked and in order, and just be able to focus on having the baby. We pretty much got everything done, and I am thankful for such a giving and hardworking family that helped us get settled in!

QOTD: What were you doing last August?

oh time hop. It’s a constant reminder of all the things that we thought were so important way back when… sometimes they were (like being pregnant), and sometimes they are silly. Mine from today was complaining about being stuck on public transit. ha.

WOW! it’s crazy to think all of that took place only one short year ago! My how time flies!

I don’t remember seeing the post you promised after moving… I know you said it was a quick decision and a fast move, but you’d get settled and fill us in. Maybe I missed it, but just curious- since you said you’d get back to it.

You are right in that I never did a full post on it, but I have mentioned things here and there. Def. wasn’t a quick decision, we were only in our house there for 8 months before we decided we wanted to move back to Madison, but it took us over two (painful) years to sell our house. We moved back up here finally on blind faith because Bobby didn’t have a job yet but luckily was able to find one within a month!

This past summer, we learned how real dog anxiety This past summer, we learned how real dog anxiety can be. (Ad)

After a really stressful week with a new sitter (who wasn’t a great fit and left her alone far too long), Dolly started coping the only way she knew how — nonstop licking. What started as “normal anxious behavior” turned into a raw wound that required a vet visit, meds, and constant care.

We changed a few things in her routine, and we also added NaturVet Daily Emotional Support Calming Supplements into her daily support. The difference has been incredible. She’s settled, sleeping better, no more licking, and truly back to her happy, goofy self.

I’m sharing this for anyone whose dog struggles with stress, separation, or big changes. You’re not overreacting. Their anxiety is real — and it deserves real support. 🤍

You can find @naturvet Daily Emotional Support Calming Supplements at select Walmart stores, and they’ve been such a gentle, helpful part of Dolly’s healing.

I was so tired of dragging around heavy, clunky ba I was so tired of dragging around heavy, clunky bags on my trips! ✈️

So I invested in the Carry-On from @hulkenbag! It’s lightweight, sleek, and glides effortlessly wherever I go. It has 4 pockets and opens from the top, so it’s very easy to grab things in flight! I’ve got room for everything I need and can fit all my devices, snacks, books, and a neck pillow seamlessly inside.

I always pair my Carry-On with the Schlep Stack because who has time to dig through a messy bag? 👜✨

Trust me, Hulken is a total game-changer!

The beaches of Alabama are the kind of place where the days feel slow, the kids are happy, and you don’t feel like you need a vacation after your vacation.

Alabama beaches in the spring just make sense.
