Christmas Day Recap 2011

December 27, 2011 | Uncategorized

Good morning! Yesterday was quite sad. It was rainy and gloomy, and we left my parents house, so Christmas is officially over. Sad! We are back home and trying to get back to normalcy. Bobby is off work today, so we are getting to hang out, go to the gym, etc.

I hope you enjoyed my Christmas eve recap from yesterday, and here is what we did on Christmas day!

We woke up at 7:15 and headed downstairs. There was a fire roaring, the tree looked beautiful, and the Christmas music was playing. I grabbed some coffee, and it was time to open presents!

We always steal one of my parents suitcases when we go on vacation because we don’t have enough, so they got us one so we would “stop stealing theirs.”

I got mom a running skirt, of course.

You know you are a runner when your parents put clif shots in your stocking.

Bobby has a big gift for me and I had no idea what it was…turns out it was one, of a set! he got me the nightstands that go with our bedroom set! (So far all we had was the bed.) I was stoked!

My mom’s birthday is on Christmas day, and I couldn’t wait until dinner for her to open her gift, so I made her open it tat morning.

She had been wanting a Disney Dooney of that style for a long time, so she was quite excited!

After making my cream cheese Danish for everyone for breakfast, we were off to my cousin’s house.

Check it out, they recently got two corvettes, and redid their garage to match. So. freaking. cool.

We had lunch with a lot of our relatives, always a plentiful amount of amazing food.

There was also a birthday cake for mom!

After all the eating, Bobby decided an afternoon nap was in order.

aaannddd my dad didn’t want him to have the luxury.

Trying to get everyone together for pictures is always a good laugh.

cousins!

brother and sisters

Look how cute they are.

We drove home through the yucky rain, and you bet, ate again! This time it was in front of the fire and TV while we watched Home Alone.

My sister and her husband came over later, just in time for more cake and ice cream. It was pretty late by time they left, and we were all very much in a food coma, so none of us fought off sleep. It was a great Christmas with my family, but as usual, it went by way too fast! I hope you had just as great of a weekend as I did! Only 363 more days…It will be here before you know it. Merry Christmas.

QOTD: What was your favorite part of Christmas?

looks like you got some awesome gifts! isn’t it funny that as you get older things like nightstands are perfectly normal and amazing gifts that you would have hated as a child lol! Like the fact that I opened two packages of running socks and said “YES!” would have never happened 15 years ago!! My favorite part of christmas is watching other people open gifts. I really just love giving things that people will love and seeing their reactions!

I know right? I used to think my mom was crazy for getting excited over gifts “for the house” but now I love getting home decor etc. for gifts!

So many people I know follow and like posts and st So many people I know follow and like posts and stories from content creators, but when it’s people they know in real life….forget about it. All of the sudden, we just don’t need or deserve the support. We just get lurkers. 💔

Women, I encourage you in 2026 to find a table where women champion other women. And I encourage all the ladies here to be a girl’s girl. There is room for everyone, and we ALL need a little support, even those that look like they have it all together.

Let’s commit to helping each other on AND offline. A simple smile, an “I love your dress” or “your kid did great in the school play” or “hang in there, you got this!” Goes a long way.

I will never understand people going out of their way to intentionally bypass a person online or in real life. People matter. It’s a tough time of year for a lot of people, so let’s all act like the friends we claim to be and be there for each other however we can. ❤️

This one is great for busy folks who want to make a “special” drink without too much fuss. 🎄

It’s literally just water frozen in the bottom of a glass with some rosemary taped in it. I waited a few hours the poured in some Prosecco and added in edible glitter (you can use multiple colors!) pretty and delicious, and keeps your drink cold! Cheers! 🥂 ❄️

The end of the year is always a time that I reflec The end of the year is always a time that I reflect on how things went, what I want to do different or better in the new year, and to be honest…I’m always really hard on myself.😕

I often end up sad or frustrated that things didn’t “turn out as planned.” But planned according to who? Success according to what?

As we were ice skating last weekend at Gaylord Opryland, laughing and just having so much fun as a family, I was hit with what I can only describe as a warm fuzzy. I wanted to smile and cry all at the same time. I thought to myself….this is it right here. 🥹

If nothing else good happens, I’ve got this and am so rich because of it. These moments. This is what I always prayed for as a girl when imagining my family one day. And it’s here, happening right now. I don’t want to wish it away waiting for the next big thing to happen.

I just want to ice skate with them in a place that makes us so happy. Wha a year. ⛸️ ❤️

I took the day off on Thursday and then worked a ton Friday, EK had bball Saturday and then we went out of town. I realized I never posted for turkey day! 😜

I have so much to be thankful for, most days I feel completely undeserving. God has been good to us, even in the days that don’t feel so good. His plans may not make sense at the time, but thankfully He is the one that sees the whole picture, not us!

We are going into the Christmas season with hearts full of gratitude and love as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. This is the most special and my favorite time of year! Let the celebrating continue!

Lastly, I am thankful for all of YOU! For liking, commenting on, and watching my content over the years. Without you, my career doesn’t exist and I am beyond thankful for the opportunities this job has given me. So THANK YOU! 🫶🏻
