Are you struggling to cope with stress as a busy parent? If so then one thing you need to take note of is that you are not alone in your situation. So many people are in the same boat as you, but if you take your time and learn different coping mechanisms then this will help you move forward.
Help is Out There if You Need It
One thing to remember is that help is out there. Whether you’re looking for parental involvement in Aba Therapy or whether you need a counselor, it is possible for you to talk to someone about whatever it is you’re going through. There are also phone lines you can call if you don’t feel as though you can rely on someone in person. Either way, one thing you need to know is that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength!
Focus on the Positives
Another thing you need to do is try and focus on the positives. Sometimes, just changing your language can help you to reframe your situation and it can also help you to change your focus. If you are stressed because you have to help your child with their homework and you have a million other things to do, then change the way you perceive the situation. Say to yourself that you can spend more quality time with them and that it is possible for you to get involved with their learning as a result. If you can do this then you will soon find that it is easier for you to feel more engaged with them, and less stressed as a result.
Consistency is Everything
If you can create a consistent routine then everyone knows what to expect. Set times for daily tasks will work out well for you here. If you find that your schedule doesn’t seem to be working then you instead need to identify stress points in the day and then consider what you can do to change them. Your kids will benefit from having a routine too, as they will know what to expect at every point in the day.
Have some You Time
You also need to carve out some time for you if you can. If you don’t allow any time for yourself during the day then this will lead to a lot of negativity. You may also find that you’re not able to unwind and that you struggle to cope with the slightest of hiccups in the day. If you find it impossible to make any time for yourself, I get it. One thing you can do to help yourself would be for you to get up 15 minutes earlier than the kids. By doing this, you can then make a coffee, or even read a good book. This is a great way for you to make the most out of your day, and it means you can also start the morning off on the right foot!
