Disney Day 3 Continued September 2011

October 11, 2011 | Uncategorized

Back home! I had a great weekend working and running the Gulf Coast Half Marathon. We had amazing weather, it was a great race, and was very well organized. Highly recommended and I hope to do it again! More on that in due time, though.

So we left off the trip posts in the Magic Kingdom. I wanted to be sure to get some photos of the new Fantasyland construction before we headed out for the day.

Beast’s Castle

Ariel’s ride and part of Dumbo’s new circus area

The above three were taken from the train. I know it’s hard to see, but it got me really excited for the expansion. I can’t wait to see what they do with it, especially with the Ariel and Beauty and the Beast areas.

The parade was coming down Main street, so we thought it was a good time to get on the monorail while everyone else was at the parade. When we got back to the room I decided to take some pictures of the castle from our room with my stalker-looking zoom lens.

zoomed in…

and not so much.

See. stalker lens. I could be a detective I tell ya.

We were eating dinner at Fulton’s in Downtown Disney, and I knew I probably was not going to like a lot on the menu (seafood) but I knew Bobby really wanted to go, off we went. When it was time for appetizers in the lounge, I loaded up as what was probably going to be my “dinner.”

The cheese and raspberry filled pastry things on the right are so good. I think I had about seven of them…This is just two of many plates.

We drove to Downtown Disney and headed in to Fulton’s.

Bobby of course ordered Crab, and I was SO stuffed, I just decided to get a baked potato. he felt bad because he said it looked like he didn’t feed me, but I really didn’t want to spend forty something dollars on a steak I was going to eat two bites of.

We once again, waddled back to the car (a wheelbarrow would be nice on these occasions) and somehow and for some unknown reason decided to eat some dessert in the lounge…yeah…

Chocolate covered strawberries = my weakness.

We went back to the room to watch Wishes, as I wanted to try and take some pictures of the fireworks with my zoom lens.  Some came out ok, but I really need a tripod for night shots like this. I so admire when people can take awesome fireworks photos, but I am not one of those people.

Wishes!

I know the posts lately have been Disney-heavy, I will try to tone them down to every other day until I get through the trip. Now that I am back home, I can put a little more time into things. Tomorrow I am going to blog a bit about our Team in Training inspiration dinner, which lived up to it’s name.

Grocery shopping time, our fridge is literally almost empty. (Do condiments and butter even count?)

QOTD: If you could expand Disney to include something new (ride, area, restaurant, park) what would you have them do next?

I don’t mind the disney posts… 😉 although they do make me want to get back to WDW, and I don’t see that happening for awhile. 🙁

QOTD: hard to say, since Disney is always coming up with new stuff! Maybe a new roller coaster, along the lines of rock n roller coaster, or a new country in world showcase. I’m totally bummed that we are not going to get to food & wine this year. Loved it last year!

I totally would have done the same thing if I was going to Fulton’s… well I wouldn’t have gotten a baked potato 🙂 I would have filled up on apps and then just got a salad! Yuck seafood.

    Mmm, chocolate covered strawberries!! Delicious!

Wow – the construction is really coming along. I can’t wait for the new Fantasyland. I was recently in Disneyland and loved the new Ariel ride. I’m curious to see the WDW version.

I am dying to go to Disney again and can’t wait to bring M. I will have to wait until that section of the park opens. She will be all over anything Beauty and the Beast

thanks for reading! being a travel agent, we go 2-3 times a year usually…but one is usually with family or for a race so its not really “vacation” 🙂

The fireworks shots are beautiful and I’m a sucker for chocolate covered strawberries too. I can never eat just one!

#ad #BraunPartner Less time shaving. More time liv #ad #BraunPartner Less time shaving. More time living thanks to @BraunBeautyUS Smart IPL. ✨

I didn’t realize how much mental space hair removal was taking up until it just… wasn’t anymore. Between games, trips, and everything in between, having something I can do at home in minutes has been a total game changer. The app-guided treatments keep me consistent without having to think about it, and I’m already noticing smoother skin that actually lasts. And yes — the full-body, 10-minute-at-home situation still feels a little unreal.

If you’ve been on the fence, Prime Day (June 14–27) is definitely the moment to check it out with $120 off. #BraunSmartIPL

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we h When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we head to Pigeon Forge Snow. ❄️ #sponsored

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.

✨ Meet Minnie before you even enter the restaurant and get photos with her + a photopass photographer.
✨ Food is all you can eat. Minnie waffles, bacon, eggs, pastries, fruit, and more!
✨ Multiple characters visit your table throughout the meal.
✨ Reservations are a must and can book up quickly!

This was such a fun way to start a park day and meet several characters without spending part of the day waiting in character lines.

Getting in a walk or run when I can. Actually drinking my water. Sticking to a skincare routine instead of overthinking it. Paying attention to my hair and scalp instead of just throwing it up and moving on. Nothing extreme, just consistency in the basics.

I’ve also been using Mochi Health for personalized skincare and hair support, and it’s made it way easier to stay on track without guessing what my skin or hair needs.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro took part in Cork to Fork on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, and every bite felt like a love letter to local flavor. From bourbon-glazed pork belly to a warm cinnamon-bourbon bread pudding that honestly didn’t stand a chance at our table… this was one of those meals you remember.

Mountain views, chef-driven dishes, and whiskey worked right into the menu in the best way. 😋
