Disney Post-Princess

February 27, 2013 | Disney, family, Travel, Uncategorized

I will be blogging about all of my race experiences later this week, but right now I am pretty darn tired. I am writing this on Tuesday night for Wednesday’s post, and we just got back from Disney this afternoon. I have been unpacking and cleaning then realized I needed to blog. Oops! I thought it would be fun to recap the day of the race (after the race) and Monday, what we did with my family etc.

After we got cleaned up on Sunday morning post half marathon, we headed to Epcot. My mom wanted pizza, and we were able to walk up and get seated immediately at Via Napoli, yes! I was starving, and pizza never tasted so delicious. A sweet Princess runner came up to our table and said she read my blog (hi again!) we chatted for a minute, it was great to meet her and see a fellow runner wearing a medal!

After lunch we walked around Epcot a bit, not even riding anything, and realized we were exhausted from our 2:45 wake up call. We decided to head back and rest, and I took a whopping one photo of the day.

We went back to Animal Kingdom Lodge, and headed to the hospitality suite for a snack before taking a nap. Well, the nap never happened. Sean Astin was in the suite, and we ended up hanging out with him for two hours. I interviewed him about the race so stay tuned for that later! My parents picked us up for dinner and we ate at Trails End buffet. So good, but I was basically a zombie by this point and had been up for almost 19 hours. We made it back to the resort and fell into the bed for a good snooze before our last day in Disney.

We “slept in” until 7:30 (sad I was finishing the race at that time the day before!) We got breakfast in the hospitality suite and chatted with race announcer Rudy before heading to Hollywood Studios.

It was super crowded so Bobby rode Aerosmith and we did Star Tours before deciding we were hungry. Mom wanted to ride the boat from port Orleans to Downtown Disney, so we did just that and ate lunch at Wolfgang Puck’s Express.

We stayed at Port Orleans the last night with my parents

On the boat to Downtown Disney

After lunch, we wandered around a bit then decided we needed some ice cream.

Oh yes, I ate all of it by myself

We rode the boat back to the hotel, it’s such a nice little ride.

It was such a nice relaxing day and awesome not to have any major plans except for dinner. We walked around the resort just enjoying the grounds and sat in the food court and chatted.

Our royal room:

It was soon time for dinner, so we headed to the Magic Kingdom for a long awaited feast at Be Our Guest restaurant.

We ate in the West Wing, and honestly I loved it. I was bummed at first, but the main room seemed so noisy and this one was much quieter and more intimate. I also loved that you can get your photo with the Beast after! I met another sweet reader in line for photos, and she just got engaged!

We tried to recreate the picture behind us. Totally dorky.

Right as we were walking out of the restaurant, we realized Wishes was about halfway over. We stood on the bridge and watched. It was SO COOL. Fireworks were coming from both sides. it was an amazing wyt to end the night.

My mom took the below photo without me even knowing, and it’s not one of my favorites ever!

Love it! We headed to Gaston’s and got some er….drinks? Before leaving.

It was an amazing last day, a perfect way to end the trip! Stay tuned for meet up, 5k, and half marathon recaps!

QOTD: Have you eaten at Be Our Guest? Do you like Fireworks?

I ate there Friday night!!! It was so yummy. When we were leaving Wishes was about half over too! I had never seen the fireworks from the back of the castle. It was very neat! There is no better place than Disney!!! Can’t wait to hear about your race experience. Mine was AWESOME!

The fireworks photo is so cute! I don’t think I’ve seen Wishes, but I’ve seen Illuminations many times.

Sounds like a fun day! One thing nice about doing Disney often is doing things “off the beaten path” and spending more time exploring and not just riding rides. I think it enhances the Disney experience. Have you ever tried a Dole whip? I’m usually a chocolate girl, but I swear I’d sell my right arm for one of those 🙂 I think the picture of you and Bobby watching the fireworks is so sweet! I love the fireworks, but usually have to force my family to watch them!

Totally jealous that you got to hangout with Sean Astin, I’m hoping to bump in to him at a runDisney event one of these days!

And no Disney trip is complete without a trip to Ghiradelli! I usually stay at Saratoga Springs which makes it walking distance so to be honest it’s usually more like 2 or 3 trips!

Your trip looks so great! I can’t wait to hear more about the race, but it looks like you really got to enjoy Disney while you were down there! Even though fireworks all look the same, I absolutely love them! I take them in at all times throughout the year!

Although Wishes was going on while we were eating and our waitress told us the neighboring castle was attacking! 🙂

We stayed at Singing Waves in Cape San Blas, and it was everything we wanted in a beach getaway: beautiful views, plenty of space, and the kind of place that makes you slow down and actually enjoy vacation.

What really stood out, though, was Renting the Coast. They’re a locally owned, family run company that manages vacation homes throughout Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe, Mexico Beach, and the surrounding Forgotten Coast communities.

Instead of managing hundreds of properties, they intentionally keep their inventory smaller so they can provide a more personal experience for both guests and homeowners. They’re known for being accessible, responsive, and focused on making sure every stay goes smoothly.

If Cape San Blas has been on your travel list, Singing Waves is absolutely worth checking out, and so is Renting the Coast’s collection of homes along Florida’s most underrated stretch of coastline. ☀️

I didn’t realize how much mental space hair removal was taking up until it just… wasn’t anymore. Between games, trips, and everything in between, having something I can do at home in minutes has been a total game changer. The app-guided treatments keep me consistent without having to think about it, and I’m already noticing smoother skin that actually lasts. And yes — the full-body, 10-minute-at-home situation still feels a little unreal.

If you’ve been on the fence, Prime Day (June 14–27) is definitely the moment to check it out with $120 off. #BraunSmartIPL

What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️
