Disney Princess Weekend: Saturday

March 20, 2012 | Disney, fitness, running, Travel, Uncategorized

If you missed my previous recap on Disney Princess weekend (non race) be sure to check it out first. Saturday morning, me, Karen, and her mom ran the Royal Family 5k. After the race, we went back to the hotel for breakfast, and then we headed back to EPCOT for some fun in the park.

Some of the topiaries were already up for the flower and garden festival, I love this time of year in WDW!

Because of my magical fastpass, we were able to quickly ride soarin and Test Track. I was actually able to get my mom to ride test track….and she still hated it. Oh well!

We walked around the world showcase and decided to eat lunch at Liberty Inn.

My mom and I split a burger…and yes she got ketchup even though I told her we were getting grapes NOT fries. Poor lady.

When we were heading out, this group was out front and we sang “God Bless America” and then said the pledge of allegiance. It made me tear up a little, we are so blessed to live in a country where we can still openly do these things!

We realized the voices of liberty were about to sing, so we stayed and watched.

We finished our walk around World Showcase, and it was time to leave. We had to get back to the hotel for the blogger meet up I was hosting!

After the meet up, we got ready for dinner. I was heading to Via Napoli with the Blogger group I was with for runDisney, and everyone else was headed to Garden Grill. We had a bbiigggg table. Some of the Disney marketing people joined our blogger group for dinner.

Picture of Theodora taking a picture. ha.

Can I just say the Risoto balls were amazing. Theodora and I both got them and raved about these amazing balls. (amaze-balls. bahaha.)

I was stuffed by time my pizza came and barely made a dent in it.

I did have great conversation though because I was also sitting next to the lovely Kelly Olexa.

We had to wait a LONG time for our table and our food. We had not even ordered dessert yet and I had to go, my mom and friends were waiting for me, plus we had to get up so early for the half the next day, so I told everyone I would see them in the morning and took off walking at a lightning pace towards Future World. My phone battery had died, so I had borrowed Kelly’s phone to tell them I was on my way. But it took me a lot longer than anticipated to walk, so I was going pretty fast! This was my fourth time running through EPCOT that weekend! (Jeff Galloway meet up, running to pasta party since I was so late, and the 5k.)

We made it back to the hotel in time for desserts in the concierge lounge.

and then went to sleep. 2:45 was going to come really early, and we didn’t get to sleep until almost 11:00!

QOTD: What is your favorite thin to do in EPCOT? Never been? What would be your favorite “country” to visit in EPCOT?

LOVE the voices of liberty in WS! No trip is complete without watching them at least once. I love all the countries in Epcot! Especially the food…fish & chips in the UK, pretzel in Germany, schoolbread in Norway …

I live in Orlando and two of the Voices of Liberty in your picture sing in my church choir! We are pretty blessed to have them. 🙂

Since I have an annual pass, we got to EPCOT more than I should admit. I love getting dessert in France along with a Grand Marnier slush or glass of champagne. But I also like the nachos in Mexico. Just depends on my mood… 😉

I just wish ONE of my clients would allow me to try to make a topiary like those… although I can see why they wouldn’t want Cinderella on the front lawn 🙂 Those are great!

My Epcot faves – Once Upon a Mexico, Soarin’ and Nemo! I love the flower & garden show and all the topiaries. Mmm, Via Napoli – I didn’t eat there this last time but I love their strawberry fresca drink.

I love the coral reef restaurant. It is one of my favorite places to eat at Epcot. I love to go to Mexico for Nachos or for a good margarita.

I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just o I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just okay.” Like, fine in a pinch… but never something I craved. 👀

But then this little picnic happened—just me, my girl, and a sweet treat we both loved enough to fight over the last bite. 😅

We’ve been trying to be more mindful with food choices lately (especially with summer travel coming up), and I grabbed these So Delicious treats at Kroger kind of on a whim. The new packaging caught my eye, but it was the taste that totally surprised us. Creamy. Indulgent. No weird aftertaste. And no, we’re not fully dairy-free—and we still loved them.

It’s one of those little swaps that doesn’t feel like giving anything up.

And that? That’s a win for both of us. ✨@So_Delicious

🚨 Homeschool decision!! If you have been aroun 🚨 Homeschool decision!!

If you have been around here since Christmas time, then you know we pulled Emma Kate out of her private school after the first semester and put her in a hybrid homeschool for the spring. The main reason being we wanted more absences than the school allowed.

What is a hybrid? In our case, she went to a school all day 3 days a week, and we taught her at home two days a week.

It seemed like the best of both worlds, not having absences count since we were also her teachers, being able to stay home some, sleep in, and travel.

Well, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For one, the school we sent her to ended up not being what we thought. We were told being absent wouldn’t be a problem, but it became clear very early on her teacher was not a fan and she was not kind or accommodating to Emma Kate. There’s a lot of other reasons we didn’t blown the school I won’t go into. (If you are local and considering hybrid feel free to dm me and I will share my concerns and grievances.)

Teaching your kid is hard. There were lots of tears and frustrations, and she got bored since Bobby and I also work from home/I’m not a stay at hoke mom. We couldn’t just sit with her all day and teach her with our crazy long hours owning two businesses.

It was tough to keep a schedule and while getting to travel a lot was great, she didn’t thrive on not having a routine and struggled with the randomness of everything.

She is also a very social only child who missed her friends and also wants to play sports for her school.

In the end while there were a lot of pros to hybrid homeschool, the cons outweighed them for us so we are returning to her old school in the fall.

Am I glad we did it? Yes! I always would have wondered otherwise and now we know. We will still be pulling her out of school some to travel in the fall, just not as much.

If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer the best I can! 🩷
