Disney Ferrytale Wishes Cruise

November 11, 2015 | Disney, family, Travel

During our recent Disney trip, I surprised my mom with a Disney Ferrytale Wishes cruise. This is something very new that had only been going on for about two weeks when we participated. I was very happy with this experience and would do it again for adults, but I don’t think it’s as worth it for kids. Here’s a quick recap of the fun!

Mom and I walked over from the Polynesian to the Transportation and Ticket center. Poor mom was clueless and had not idea what we were doing. I went over to the ferry dock and saw balloons and a sign that said “check in”, and even after we walked up she was confused, so I let the guy checking people in explain it to her.

We were given a pin and a menu, and he led us down towards the boat where others were gathered.

We were then given glow in the dark necklaces and a glowing champagne glass filled with cider and we were told to hang onto it. We waited around until 9:00 to board the ferry.

Once onboard we were given a plate, and told to have fun! We found coffee, alcohol (beer, wine, vodka punch, prosecco), and lots of desserts.

We watched the Electrical Water Parade and sailed around the Seven Seas Lagoon chowing down and watching the beautiful views.

Later they had mickey bars and ice cream sandwiches as well as some fruit flavored popsicles.

When it was time for Wishes at 10:00, the boat parked and everyone had a great view. The music was piped in and it was really beautiful with the reflection on the water.

When Wishes was over, the boat sailed back to the dock and we got off. They were handing out extra ice cream bars as we got off so of course we took one…and they were giving out all the balloons, SURE! Why not?

Oh, there was even a Photopass photographer onboard.

The staff was so friendly, and everyone seemed to be having a really good time. We met some very nice people and chatted with a bunch of different folks as we went. There were maybe only 10 kids onboard (remember, we didn’t get ON the boat till 9:00). The reason I say it is worth it for adults but not kids is because it was $100 for adults and $69 for kids. Adults get all you can drink alcohol and a really cool experience but the kids seemed bored and that’s an expensive ticket for an hour and a half boat ride. I will be doing a more detailed review on another blog at the end of the month, I will be sure to post a link on Facebook when it’s live.

My husband and I did the Halloween Party last year (at $76 dollars a pop). We enjoyed it, but didn’t feel like we got our money’s worth…for just a little more money, this seems like a MUCH better deal for us—drinks? food? YES!!!!! Thanks for sharing–I had no idea about this!

We just returned from WDW on Monday, and I am already scheduling dates for next year. Too fun!

It was a blast, and I can see it being totally fun with a bigger group of people. Just one of those special little things to make the trip more magical!

The few kids I did see looked exhausted and a little bored. I was exhausted as it was! It was late!

We hadn’t done this particular cruise but we did do a private wishes cruise with our family the night before our wedding. It really was fabulous watching wishes out front of magic kingdom like that. We liked it so much that the following year we booked an illuminations cruise through Epcot which was equally great!
Looks like you had some really fabulous treats on your cruise! I still have not had one of those glass slipper desserts. That’s on my list! Glad that your mom had a good time!

I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just o I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just okay.” Like, fine in a pinch… but never something I craved. 👀

But then this little picnic happened—just me, my girl, and a sweet treat we both loved enough to fight over the last bite. 😅

We’ve been trying to be more mindful with food choices lately (especially with summer travel coming up), and I grabbed these So Delicious treats at Kroger kind of on a whim. The new packaging caught my eye, but it was the taste that totally surprised us. Creamy. Indulgent. No weird aftertaste. And no, we’re not fully dairy-free—and we still loved them.

It’s one of those little swaps that doesn’t feel like giving anything up.

And that? That’s a win for both of us. ✨@So_Delicious

🚨 Homeschool decision!! If you have been aroun 🚨 Homeschool decision!!

If you have been around here since Christmas time, then you know we pulled Emma Kate out of her private school after the first semester and put her in a hybrid homeschool for the spring. The main reason being we wanted more absences than the school allowed.

What is a hybrid? In our case, she went to a school all day 3 days a week, and we taught her at home two days a week.

It seemed like the best of both worlds, not having absences count since we were also her teachers, being able to stay home some, sleep in, and travel.

Well, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For one, the school we sent her to ended up not being what we thought. We were told being absent wouldn’t be a problem, but it became clear very early on her teacher was not a fan and she was not kind or accommodating to Emma Kate. There’s a lot of other reasons we didn’t blown the school I won’t go into. (If you are local and considering hybrid feel free to dm me and I will share my concerns and grievances.)

Teaching your kid is hard. There were lots of tears and frustrations, and she got bored since Bobby and I also work from home/I’m not a stay at hoke mom. We couldn’t just sit with her all day and teach her with our crazy long hours owning two businesses.

It was tough to keep a schedule and while getting to travel a lot was great, she didn’t thrive on not having a routine and struggled with the randomness of everything.

She is also a very social only child who missed her friends and also wants to play sports for her school.

In the end while there were a lot of pros to hybrid homeschool, the cons outweighed them for us so we are returning to her old school in the fall.

Am I glad we did it? Yes! I always would have wondered otherwise and now we know. We will still be pulling her out of school some to travel in the fall, just not as much.

If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer the best I can! 🩷
