Disneyland Day 2 and 3

October 21, 2012 | Disney, Travel

I haven’t done a Disneyland recap post in awhile and need to finish it up, so I thought today was just a good a day as any. We left off after the Disneyland half marathon, Bobby and I spent some time in the parks before going back to the room to crash.

We had dinner reservations at Blue Bayou in Disneyland Park. I was really excited about this one because I had heard so many great things about it. This restaurant is very themed, and the Pirates of the Caribbean ride actually goes by the restaurant. It’s like you are sitting outside on the bayou, listening to the crickets and the frogs, and the boats go right by you in the water. It’s really neat and was one of my favorite meals.

“Inside” the restaurant. We had a table by the water

The service was excellent and the meal delicious. I had gumbo and filet.

After we ate, we of course had to go ride the ride!

We also rode Buzz Lightyear, and Star Tours.

We kept watching the clock, because we had Preferred seating for the fireworks right in front of the castle. It was nice to see a different fireworks show, but I think Wishes (In Walt Disney World) is way better than Magical.

After the show was over, we walked to Frontierland for our preferred seats for Fantasmic.

We really enjoyed the show, it was neat to see it on a different “stage” then the one at Hollywood Studios in Florida. After the show, we walked back to our hotel, it had been a LONG day and it was time to turn in.

I wasn’t kidding. We were exhausted and were ready for some much needed relaxation/pool time the next day.

——————————————-

We slept in and headed to the pool after breakfast, they had the most comfortable lounge chairs ever!

Our room is one of those on the 3rd floor

They were seriously like giant beds.

We relaxed for a couple of hours and then decided to grab some lunch. The sun was getting hot and I had some work/a client issue to go take care of. We grabbed food at White water snacks then headed to the concierge lounge for more snacks and a place to sit.

my favorite thing about the lounge is that they had a balcony with mountain views. We don’t get this at home below sea level, folks!

We took another afternoon nap, and got ready for dinner at Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland hotel. The food was my favorite of the trip, but the service was slightly lacking.

Sunset from our room

We had a great relaxing day and were ready to hit the parks again on Tuesday.

QOTD: Would you rather a really well themed restaurant or one with really good service?

Service and food beats theme anytime!

Is it too much to ask for both? Sure, service wins every time. I mean, no theme on this Earth is going to work if you don’t feel welcomed but I think of Disney cruises. Awesome service and the restaurants are beautifully themed. Best of both worlds.

We are going to take the kids to DL in December. I can’t wait! I have been about 6 years ago and can’t wait to go back! Some of those rides are soooo fun!

I imagine that if I was ever in Disneyland that I would run into you… just seems like something that would (or at least should) happen.

We ate at the Blue Bayou, however it was a table that I would swear could be no more farther away from the water. 🙁 The Monte Cristo was fantastic! I wanted to eat at Steakhouse 55 for our anniversary, but my wife really wanted to go to Napa Rose. Napa Rose was excellent. Pricey, but excellent. I love to eat good food, although I’m not sure food is ever worth that price. Also, I really wanted one of those chairs from the pool at Grand Californian!!

I love Blue Bayou! It’s so much fun to float by it during Pirates. I love the Pirates set up at DL more than WDW.

So… never. 👀

I wanted something simple, personalized, and actually doable, not a 47-step routine I’d abandon in two days. That’s why I started using Mochi Health for skincare + wellness support, and it’s been one small thing that makes me feel more put together (even when I’m not).

If you’ve been wanting to get your skin and wellness together without overthinking it, I shared more in the reel. Link in bio for $40 off your first month.

San Diego snaps. 📸 Did you know Disney makes it San Diego snaps. 📸

Did you know Disney makes it SO easy to fly into San Diego for a @disneycruiseline vaca? 🚢 (ad)

Let’s break it down :
1.) Flew into the San Diego airport
2.) Took a Lyft to @grandhyattsandiego which is super close by
3.) Walked right downstairs for dinner @seaport_village
4.) The next morning you walk downstairs to a special table in the lobby to check in with DCL, show your passport, be extra luggage tags etc.
5.) Leave your luggage at the door of your hotel room. They will collect it and put it on the bus for you.
6.) Meet downstairs at your designated time and board the bus
7.) Super short 5 min ride to the port on the Disney bus
8.) They handle your luggage, you just get on the ship! 🚢

It was so nice having everyone nearby and coordinated for us! I highly recommend arriving a day before your cruise anyway if you are flying, and Disney made it seamless.
Note that right now, the Grand Hyatt is the only San Diego area hotel that has the service of the Disney bus transportation to the port.

Know what’s even more seamless? Having an agent from @bestdayevervacay plan all of this for you at no additional cost! Click the link in my bio and you can get a free, no obligation quote and start planning your magical vacation!

Or, comment the word “cruise” below and I will send you the direct 🔗

We just set sail on the Disney Wonder for a magical 3 night west coast sailing! But the fun won’t stop when we disembark, we will be continuing the trip to Disneyland so don’t go anywhere! All the fun is happening right now in my stories! (And saved to a highlight if you miss some!)

A huge thanks to Disney and @bestdayevervacay for making this possible and sending us on this trip! ✨

#ad Turns out my patio didn’t need a full makeover #ad Turns out my patio didn’t need a full makeover… it just needed the right planters 🌿

I walked into @loweshomeimprovement (garden center = instant mood boost) and found these allen + roth & planters that look designer but are actually budget-friendly. Exactly the kind of upgrade I love: big impact without the big price tag.

Swipe to see the before → after because WOW. New planters + fresh plants completely brought this space back to life. I love how versatile they are too, perfect for patios, porches, or even indoors. If your outdoor space is looking a little… tired (same 😅), this is your sign to refresh it for spring.

Grab them in-store at Lowe’s or through the link in my bio 🔗
