Disneyland Day 2 Part 1

September 24, 2012 | Disney, runDisney, running, Travel

*Today is the last day for early registration for the runDisney Princess half marathon! Hurry and save, it’s already 60% full!

I left off my last Disneyland post with dinner and dessert before hitting the hay the night before the half marathon. Since I have already posted my race recap, I will skip to after we walked back to the room and showered. It was time to hit Disney’s California Adventure!  Of course, we wore our medals proudly.

We immediately headed to Cars Land so I could take some pictures.

It was so weird having just run through here that morning, when it was dark and quiet. Definitely not quiet now! Radiator Springs Racers was temporarily shut down, and so we headed over to Toy Story Mania.

I found it quite odd that they don’t have fastpasses for this ride. It is Bobby’s favorite though, so we stood in the 35 minute standby line (which was closer to 50 minutes) and waited in the heat. We had a blast on the ride though, and talked to a lot of people in line about runDisney who were asking about the race and my coast to coast medal.

At the end of the ride you have to go up some stairs to get out and my legs were not happy about that. I did like this cute little display though

We pretty much walked onto the Little Mermaid ride which I thought was really well done. (Photo is of Ariel’s Grotto restaurant not the Ariel ride)

We both realized how hungry we were and headed to Taste Pilot’s for lunch. it was crowded, but luckily a table opened up just as were were looking for one.

One thing I will say that drove me crazy would be the people wanting your table and eyeing it up before you are done. We were half way through our meal and a lady came up and asked if when we were done if she could have our table…uh…sure…ok…we kept eating for another ten minutes as people looked at us hurrying us up. We then had someone else come and ask the same thing and we had to tell them our table was already “taken”. So then, we were finally done and ready to go, and some other lady dives toward our table as the woman who had been hovering for ten minutes sits down. The diving lady’s husband starts fussing because they had wanted our table, it was INSANE. Definitely wasn’t a very “Disney”moment and left a bad taste in my mouth.

Before lunch we had gotten fastpasses for Grizzy River Run, so we headed over there next. We knew we would get wet so we planned it as our last thing to do before heading to our room. So glad I planned it that way!

We only had to wait a couple of minutes before boarding our raft and plummeting down the drop….and getting soaking wet. Luckily, the entrance to our hotel is ride by the ride so we didn’t have to go far in our squishy shoes to get back to the room. A nap was definitely in order before heading back out to the parks that night.

I will continue day two with my next Disneyland post, so stay tuned.

QOTD: After a race do you take a nap or try to stay moving so you don’t get stiff?

What a fun time! Disney Land looks so different than Disney World. I’m sorry you had to deal with that table situation, that would have really annoyed me!

Car Land looks awesome! My little one is a Cars fanatic and would go nuts over that. Hmmm, maybe we need to make a trip out to Disney sometime soon. I too hate when people hover over you while your eating. It’s so rude!! I get that people are hungry but you should be able to enjoy your lunch in peace.

I know I say this a lot, but I want to go to Disney so bad!

I try not to nap after a race, it usually leads to my legs cramping up. I showered and then walked out my legs in the parks after the DL Half – since I was on east coast time it didn’t feel like I had gotten up all that early. I was definitely in bed by about 9pm though!

our biggest mistake was after our very first half marathon. We got in bed b/c we were SO COLD and took naps, we were miserably stiff after!

It is crazy how ridiculous people act at theme parks. I’ve seen some wild stuff at Disney World. All the parents want THEIR child to have the most “magical” moments… and they come off looking like jerks. haha

still looking – probably getting a ‘value room’ since we get a tiny deal on the rate and shuttle to the start. You’re doing the 1/2? Cool! I’ll be there Thurs-Sun (friends doing the full)

I’m glad you posted this because I was just thinking this weekend on how I didn’t know what you were supposed to do after running a half marathon (I’m currently training for the WDW Half in January). The farthest I’ve run thus far is five miles and I came home and took a nap after that, but I really don’t want to have to do that after the half marathon – what’s the point of having the medal if I can’t walk around showing it off right? I think I’ll just have to see how I feel after my long runs as I’m training to see if I get sore.

My first (and only so far) marathon ever was at Disney World. I had so much fun running the race because the whole time I knew I would get to go to the park afterwards. It was such a motivator. The CA version looks awesome too.

🎄 POV: Our Weekend Holiday Getaway in Pigeon Forge 🎄 POV: Our Weekend Holiday Getaway in Pigeon Forge
There’s just something about the holidays in the Smoky Mountains — the lights, the laughter, the togetherness — it all feels extra magical. #sponsored

Our first stop was Dolly Parton’s Stampede, the world’s most visited dinner attraction, and it’s easy to see why. The pre-show in the Stampede Saloon had us singing along to country and Christmas classics before we sat down for a four-course feast that could rival any holiday dinner. 🐴

Then the arena came alive with 32 magnificent horses, trick riders, and dancers bringing the spirit of the season to life with a friendly North vs. South Pole rivalry, toys that come alive, and even Santa arriving in a horse-drawn sleigh. Pure holiday joy from start to finish! 🎅🏻

Next up was the Titanic Museum Attraction, beautifully transformed into an Elegant Edwardian Christmas, giving Titanic the Christmas voyage she never got. We each received a boarding pass with the name of a real passenger, explored the Grand Staircase, and even touched the icy 28-degree water. The interactive exhibits made history come alive, and it was such an emotional, unforgettable experience for all of us.

And to end the weekend, we dove into adventure at Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show. Led by Captain Blackbeard himself, the Crimson and Sapphire crews battled for treasure with acrobatics, mermaids, fire stunts, and even a sea lion! Between the four-course pirate feast and the jaw-dropping stunts, it was nonstop fun and the perfect grand finale to our Pigeon Forge weekend. 🏴‍☠️

This trip reminded me that time together really is the best gift. Add Pigeon Forge and these incredible attractions to your holiday must-do list this season. ❤️

Comment “Pigeon Forge” and I’ll send you links to grab your tickets before they sell out!
