#DisneySportsFestival Day 1

July 26, 2013 | blogging, Disney, fitness

When I was in Disney World for the Disney Sports Festival, I learned about a lot of things I didn’t know that were going on while I was in the parks with my family enjoying a typical trip.

media

There are SO many sporting events, parties and the like that they have a whole calendar dedicated to sports! I was lucky to get to experience first hand some of these events while also learning about other offerings at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

On Sunday, the first day of the media meet up, we were invited to tag along at the opening party for the International Cup youth soccer tournament.

(More about this tournament to come on my blog!) The party was held at Animal Kingdom park on Sunday night. There was SO much excitement in the air as soccer teams from all over the world, dressed in their teams’ colors, ran around singing and laughing.

There was a buffet inside one of the restaurants, and I helped myself to the food and cotton candy for dessert!

We went outside and discovered we could get free ice cream from the ice cream cart. This seriously made my night. It was the best dessert I had all week!

Dinoland was open, so we rode a couple of rides and played some of the carnival games. It was a blast!

At about 11:00, we decided to head back. As we were walking through the park, my shoe broke! So I had to walk through Animal Kingdom and the parking area barefoot. Klassy with a K. Not my finest moment, but what can you do? Sadly, my shoes went in the trash.

We had a great time and it got me excited for the next day when we would be touring the Sports Complex!

QOTD: Have your shoes even broken in public?

Disclosure: I attended this event as a media guest for Disney Sports. My flight, accommodations, park tickets, and meals were supplied by Disney, but my opinions are my own.

I had an incident at Animal Kingdom several years ago where my flip flop type sandal ( which had very thin leather straps) was digging profusely into the top of my foot. I rigged it up so I could still wear the shoe with out the strap. I certainly couldn’t move very fast this way. That is the closest I’ve come to wearing a broken shoe. come to think of it, I think I did end up buying a new pair of Mickey sandals at the park. Those looked like nice sandals, sorry they broke on you. You should have took them back to the store, maybe they could have been fixed.

      Too funny!
I have had these shoes for about 8 years and can’t even remember where I bought them!

I LOVE that dress, so cute definitely something that could be dressy or casual!

Definitely had shoes break in public before, heels and mostly sandals…the worst was flipflops because there was no way of fixing it or altering it so I at least had SOMETHING on my foot!

I can’t say the shoe thing has ever happened to me, but it happened to my co-worker recently. She tried to fix it with paper clips and it failed pretty bad! She ended up going to the store on her lunch to buy new shoes! Looks like you still had a good time and at least the shoe thing happened at the end of the night!!

I hate when shoes break while I’m out and about. I feel like it’s always happening to me with flip flops: someone will accidentally step on them and I’ll walk right out of them! Otherwise, the Disney Sports Festival looks AMAZING! I didn’t even know that was a thing. Just something else I’ll have to add to my bucket list…

YES! I was wearing sandles like the ones in your picture and they broke in the same way while I was walking through Target! I had to awkwardly walk over to the footwear section and pick out some replacement sandles and then basically drag my foot to the cashier because I refused to take the sandle off my foot in the store, but everytime I would take a normal step my foot would go all the way through it. Not a great time!

This one is great for busy folks who want to make a “special” drink without too much fuss. 🎄

It’s literally just water frozen in the bottom of a glass with some rosemary taped in it. I waited a few hours the poured in some Prosecco and added in edible glitter (you can use multiple colors!) pretty and delicious, and keeps your drink cold! Cheers! 🥂 ❄️
