#DisneySportsFestival Day 2 Part 1

July 30, 2013 | blogging, Disney, family, fitness

I blogged last week about the Sunday night we spent at the Disney Sports Festival. Since I have already written a post about the sports complex in general, I am going to instead tell you a little about my day and highlight things that I didn’t mention or go into detail about in my previous post.

disney sports festival

Monday was our first official full day, and it started bright and early at Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. We were there for a tour which was led by a friend of mine, Carissa!

We were welcomed to the complex, were fed breakfast, and then heard a little bit from some important people in Disney sports. Recognize anyone?

It was a great way to open things up and start our day at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, but of course we had to get pictures with the main man, Mickey!

This next picture of me and Jen totally cracks me up. We are just discussing some Fantasy Football picks. Raise your hand if you would watch a sports show with me and Jen as hosts!!! No? Come on!

ESPN

We started our tour and were shown some parts of the complex I had never seen before. This Office Max business center was way cool. it had phone charging stations as well as signs and fans you could write on with sharpies to cheer on your team!

We also got to see a really neat thing that you can do at the sports complex, and that is make customized shirts. You pick a sport, and can have a wide range of things put on the back and sleeves of the shirts. I was stoked when I learned we got to make shirts of our own! I put my Twitter handle on the back, of course.

After picking out our shirts we were brought down to a place where we saw some green screens. I have seen these before and was interested in learning about how a team can have their photo made together, or even put their super stars on the cover of ESPN magazine!

Again, I loved the interaction. Not only were we TOLD about how this process works, but we were given the opportunity to join in the fun. Photos with Goofy in front of a green screen anyone? I made him “run” with me. I felt a little goofy (haha) taking the photo but I think it turned out cute.

I cannot even tell you how many people thought my ESPM magazine cover was real in I posted it on Instagram. I wish!

This post is getting a bit lengthy so I will pick up with the rest of the tour and the surprises that were in store for us next time!

QOTD: Have you ever had your photo taken in front of a green screen?

LAST DAY to enter my medal hanger giveaway by Sport Hooks!

Disclosure: I attended this event as a media guest for Disney Sports. My flight, accommodations, park tickets, and meals were supplied by Disney, but my opinions are my own.

I’m enjoying reading about your time at Wide World Of Sports complex.

Some of those things you would think Disney would make readily available to the folks visiting for race weekend, the magazine cover opportunity, Custom shirts, accessible characters in running gear for photo ops, etc. Or maybe they do and I just never noticed. Thanks again for sharing!

you can make customizable shirts at a kiosk in downtown disney with running stuff to put on it. 🙂
The only time I have seen the characters in the running gear is at the meet ups. Maybe they want to make it more ellusive by not having them out all the time?

I always say I am going to do that at a rock n roll event but I was always working the expos in the past and there was no time!

They need to work on that for January. His track suit should be oversized like his normal clothes.

I LOVED the green screen pictures from Wine and Dine! I loved getting my picture so it looked like I was in the runDisney ad for the race. The fact that I was wearing a can can costume also added to the look:

I was so disappointed when they didn’t do it at the marathon.

If you’re new here, I figured an introduction was If you’re new here, I figured an introduction was overdue. 👋

I’m Heather. Wife, mom, content creator, trip planner, snack purchaser, basketball chauffeur, and personal assistant to two Goldendoodles who contribute absolutely nothing to the household.

I live in east Tennessee with my husband Bobby, my daughter Emma Kate, and our dogs Dolly and Luna.

Around here you’ll find a little bit of everything:
✈️ Family vacations
❤️ Couples getaways
🌎 The occasional solo adventure
🏀 Sports mom life
🏡 Home and household finds
🍽️ Food, recipes, and restaurants
🛍️ Products I genuinely use and love

Basically, if it’s making our lives easier, more fun, more organized, more luxurious, or creating memories, there’s a good chance I’ll be sharing it.

If you’re here for basketball content, travel ideas, home finds, dog content, or just the chaos of trying to do it all, welcome. You’re my kind of people.

You can also follow Emma Kate’s basketball journey at @theprincessEK and keep an eye out for appearances from Dolly and Luna, who are convinced this account belongs to them anyway. (They have their own IG @ourdoodledolly!)

Or if you just want mom life basketball content, you can follow me at @heatherfromthebleachers where I post memes and funnies and being a sports parent.

Now tell me about you. Where are you from, and what kind of content do you want to see more of? 👇

So it’s actually today…HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! 🎉 Ju So it’s actually today…HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! 🎉
July 13th happens to be a pretty great day if you ask me. 😜

Today I’m 41. I’m not a fan of odd numbers so I’m not sure yet how I feel about this year. 😆

I will say I am always very reflective on my birthday. I’m grateful for every year God has given me, and know how blessed I am to have even made it to 41. Each day is truly a gift, and I don’t always live or act like it. As someone who is “over the hill,” I find myself wanting to soak it all in and slow it all down more and more, but it just keeps getting faster and faster! 🫣

Here’s to another go around, and hopefully to many, many more. 🥂

While it’s true you need sugar to make a good slush and Alani energy drinks are lacking here, with an easy modification (fruit juice!) I got it to work, and boy was it delicious on a hot July day! ☀️

It was a fun, summery special occasion drink! What flavor combos should I try next? Hawaiian shaved ice + pineapple juice was so good! It was so easy I want to do it again! 🥤
