Easter Weekend 2013

April 2, 2013 | family, holidays

I know I know. I promised a runDisney post today. I am so sorry! Working out a couple of kinks with my post and information. Shooting for tomorrow. Please don’t hate me! I just want it to be perfect. Winking smile

Instead I shall tell you about my Easter Weekend. Poor Bobby somehow pulled his back lifting weights on Thursday morning. it was hurting him, but not too badly. By Friday, he couldn’t walk straight and was in a lot of pain. He went to the chiropractor and was told he had a back spasm. He was treated there, and then went and got a massage before we headed to my parents house for the weekend. The weather was so beautiful that we sat outside and ate dinner. My dad fried shrimp and fish (which I didn’t eat of course) and we just relaxed on the deck.

Dad is way cool in his backwards hat.

Saturday, we of course got up at 5:00 and drove into Downtown to run the Crescent City Classic.

2009 and 2013. Funny stuff.

After the race we both took wonderful naps, and had dinner outside again with my parents. So far a great relaxing weekend! Sunday morning we got up and went to church. I wore my new Easter dress from the Banana Republic outlet.

Just thought I’d throw my favorite picture ever in the mix. Bahahaha!

Ok, where were we?

After church some extended family came over and we ate lunch and hung out outside again and ate dessert. Lots of great things to choose from!

We had a great relaxing weekend with family, it was just what we needed. I hope you all had a happy Easter, too!

QOTD: Any Easter traditions? Special foods? Egg hunt? My mom has these Easter egg plates we eat dessert out of every year!

My sister and I went out for an Easter run. We haven’t run together since Christmas time, and it was fun to push each other. After 5 miles we headed to our Grandma’s for Easter dinner….and my favorite Banana Pudding!! Looks like you had a relaxing weekend!! I could have used a nap! 🙂

Love the dress- you look so pretty!

I’m praying Wyatt outgrows his egg allergy by next year so we can do an egg hunt and dye eggs. I don’t want to confuse him and tell him eggs are ok sometimes, but not to eat, if he stays allergic.

My MIL always makes my girls a cake shaped like a bunny – she’s been doing that since my hubby was a little kid and they love it! Tastes pretty good too 🙂 I LOVE, LOVE your dress – wonder if I can find one in my size…

Living as an expat makes it too hard to keep traditions! My apartment here is so tiny all my seasonal decorations are in storage back in Seattle 🙁 Someday I’ll live in the states again and I’ll go nuts! I’ll have a lot of lost time to make up for!!

Egg hunts, egg decorating, and early morning Church and brunch are traditions of Easter weekend for my family. I still have dye on my hands-ekk!

Love your dress! I just went to Banana Republic Outlet this past Friday and got a few new dresses. I always shop at the outlet rather than the store, always great deals and so many cute options to pick from.

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we h When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we head to Pigeon Forge Snow. ❄️ #sponsored

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.

Here is my favorite in park Disneyland character e Here is my favorite in park Disneyland character experience: The Plaza Inn character breakfast. Here are a few things to know:

✨ Meet Minnie before you even enter the restaurant and get photos with her + a photopass photographer.
✨ Food is all you can eat. Minnie waffles, bacon, eggs, pastries, fruit, and more!
✨ Multiple characters visit your table throughout the meal.
✨ Reservations are a must and can book up quickly!

This was such a fun way to start a park day and meet several characters without spending part of the day waiting in character lines.

Getting in a walk or run when I can. Actually drinking my water. Sticking to a skincare routine instead of overthinking it. Paying attention to my hair and scalp instead of just throwing it up and moving on. Nothing extreme, just consistency in the basics.

I’ve also been using Mochi Health for personalized skincare and hair support, and it’s made it way easier to stay on track without guessing what my skin or hair needs.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro took part in Cork to Fork on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, and every bite felt like a love letter to local flavor. From bourbon-glazed pork belly to a warm cinnamon-bourbon bread pudding that honestly didn’t stand a chance at our table… this was one of those meals you remember.

Mountain views, chef-driven dishes, and whiskey worked right into the menu in the best way. 😋
