Easter Weekend 2015

April 6, 2015 | baby, Faith, family, holidays, running

A late happy Easter to everyone! I hope you had a fun weekend with friends and family. We did, but it went by sssoooo fast, I’m sad it’s over! Thursday night Bobby and I dyed Easter eggs, then forgot to put them in the refrigerator, whoops!

Also we kind of made a mess, but love having a place to put the completed eggs!

Bella was feeling left out and wanted to show off our cute new rug.

Friday afternoon we loaded up the family and drove to my parents house. We dropped off the girls and headed downtown for the night. We were running the Crescent City Classic 10k in the morning but had the expo and a pasta dinner to get to first.

At the pasta dinner I got to catch up with some friends/other bloggers, we had a blast! I was sure to carb load and eat plenty of desserts.

After dinner we checked into our hotel, Aloft New Orleans, and went to bed. Poor Bobby had a cold and wasn’t feeling very good.

The next morning was the race (recap coming soon)

Then we drove back to my parents house for Easter.I was sure to get a celebratory wedding cake snowball.

My dad’s 60th birthday is in a couple of weeks, so we went ahead and celebrated since we were in town. We had a delicious doberge cake (google it) and ice cream.

IMG_4206 (2)

Sunday morning we went to church, and of course Emma Kate got an Easter basket.

The weather was gorgeous, sunny and 70, so we all hung out outside while my dad grilled. My aunt and uncles came over and joined us for lunch.

Lunch was delicious as usual, but all too soon it was time to pack up and make the drive back to Mississippi. Out of nowhere a huge storm popped up and it rained the entire drive back home. Sad times.

We had so much fun (except for Bobby being sick) celebrating Easter and the true reason we celebrate the holiday.

QOTD: What did you do for Easter?

I felt so bad for the kids yesterday. We had cool weather but it was raining during the morning. I hope some places switched the Easter egg hunts to Saturday because that was perfect weather.

Women, I encourage you in 2026 to find a table where women champion other women. And I encourage all the ladies here to be a girl’s girl. There is room for everyone, and we ALL need a little support, even those that look like they have it all together.

Let’s commit to helping each other on AND offline. A simple smile, an “I love your dress” or “your kid did great in the school play” or “hang in there, you got this!” Goes a long way.

I will never understand people going out of their way to intentionally bypass a person online or in real life. People matter. It’s a tough time of year for a lot of people, so let’s all act like the friends we claim to be and be there for each other however we can. ❤️

This one is great for busy folks who want to make a “special” drink without too much fuss. 🎄

It’s literally just water frozen in the bottom of a glass with some rosemary taped in it. I waited a few hours the poured in some Prosecco and added in edible glitter (you can use multiple colors!) pretty and delicious, and keeps your drink cold! Cheers! 🥂 ❄️

The end of the year is always a time that I reflec The end of the year is always a time that I reflect on how things went, what I want to do different or better in the new year, and to be honest…I’m always really hard on myself.😕

I often end up sad or frustrated that things didn’t “turn out as planned.” But planned according to who? Success according to what?

As we were ice skating last weekend at Gaylord Opryland, laughing and just having so much fun as a family, I was hit with what I can only describe as a warm fuzzy. I wanted to smile and cry all at the same time. I thought to myself….this is it right here. 🥹

If nothing else good happens, I’ve got this and am so rich because of it. These moments. This is what I always prayed for as a girl when imagining my family one day. And it’s here, happening right now. I don’t want to wish it away waiting for the next big thing to happen.

I just want to ice skate with them in a place that makes us so happy. Wha a year. ⛸️ ❤️
