Emma Kate’s 5th Unicorn Birthday Party

September 30, 2019 | family, food, holidays

I was so excited when Emma Kate told me she wanted a unicorn birthday party. I was excited about all the colors, decorations, etc. and began researching right away by creating a secret Pinterest board where I could pin ideas and get my wheels turning.

To be honest, I wanted to decorate but not go super overboard because we were already paying for the location for the party and the bouncy houses, so the decorating budget was small, but I think we still managed to do a good job and Emma Kate was super happy with everything! So here is what we did/had:

Food

First of all, the cake. Thankfully I had a friend I do boot camp with who is an AMAZING baker and she made the most beautiful and delicious cake ever! I gave her a couple of inspiration photos but told her she had creative freedom beyond that, and I am super pleased with what she did! If you live in the Jackson MS area, be sure to check out Morgan at Charmed Cakes, she literally can do anything!

Isn’t it amazing? It didn’t just look beautiful, it was so amazingly delicious and everyone loved it and was asking about it.

We also ordered pizza, which the kids of course loved, and it was a great cheap option and they delivered to the facility. Then we had some other snack foods to go along with everything. We had popcorn, fruit, Cheetos, pretzel sticks/unicorn horns, and Rice Krispy treats.

For the popcorn, I got candy melts and drizzled them on the popcorn via a cookie sheet, then added unicorn and rainbow marshmallows from Lucky Charms cereal. The rice Krisy treats are the birthday cake flavored ones that came individually wrapped. I opened them up and cut them in half and put them in a bowl. Easy peasy! My friend Amy made the “unicorn horns” and they were a huge hit! I saw the fruit/rainbow idea on Pinterest, and again it was a huge hit and super easy to put together.

Decorations

I bought my own helium tank at Walmart, and then bought balloons at Walmart and off of Etsy to fill myself. I got 97 cent table cloths at Walmart as well as the balloon holders. The centerpieces are from Etsy. I also added Unicorn confetti as well. The birthday banner, cake plates, napkins, utensils, and unicorn table cloth are all from Amazon and came in a package all together.

I grabbed some mason jars and wrapped some ribbon around them for the utensils. You can see the design for the napkins and plates in the picture of the napkins below.

I also ordered these cute unicorn water bottle labels. They were super easy to use and the kids loved them.

The facility was great, and I highly recommend Madison County Sports Zone to anyone having a birthday party in the Jackson area. They had 5 inflatables, hula hoops, balls, bubbles, and plenty of space to run. We had use of the party room, as well as an attendant to help us decorate, hand out cake, clean up, etc. You can bring in whatever food you want, and they have a freezer to store ice cream.

We had such a great time at her unicorn birthday party!

Some days, the scoreboard doesn’t look the way we Some days, the scoreboard doesn’t look the way we want it to, but that doesn’t change how proud we are. ❤️

Yesterday we didn’t win the championship, but that didn’t stop us from remembering what really matters, that our daughter is an amazing human who deserves to be celebrated even on the tough days. 🍧

Parents, it’s SO easy to get wrapped up in the game. Let’s always remember that our kids’ worth isn’t measured by a trophy or a score. Celebrate them. Encourage them. Love them unconditionally. ✨

They are enough. Always. 💛
