Fitness Role Model

March 18, 2011 | Uncategorized

EEEKKKK! I am so excited! The latest issue of Fit Magazine, New Orleans’ monthly fitness magazine, is out, and guess who is on the cover? MMMMMEEEEE! I am so excited! Not only am I on the cover, but there is a story about me on the inside, being a fitness role model. woo hoo! I was kind of bummed they didn’t put my blog address in there, but hopefully people will still be able to find my blog from it. I am getting my hands on a copy soon and will post pictures tomorrow, I can’t wait for you to see it!

If you will remember, I did the photo shoot back at the beginning of February. It was SO COLD, about 34 degrees, and on the lakefront. My hands went numb, and I had to run, a lot for the pictures! It’s been a long wait, and I wasn’t SURE if I was going to be on the cover or not.

Today I am going to take it easy because I have a race tomorrow! Bobby and I are running a 5k, our first in our new town. I am  a little nervous because 1.) I have no idea where it is, and 2.) it doesn’t start till 9:30 and the high tomorrow is 78 and sunny! It’s going to be QUITE warm which I am not used to. I really really want to PR and hope the warm temps don’t mess that up for me!

I also have a baby shower to go to tomorrow for my cousin’s fiancé. It’s a bridal tea! How fun! I will be sure to take pictures of me in my tea hat.

So, did you enter my giveaway yet? Check it out! You have until Monday night to enter.

Also don’t forget you can join my Facebook fan page, follow me on twitter, or subscribe to my blog via e mail or reader, all form the right menu bar.

My worst race day experience…. oh wow. Probably my first ever race (a half marathon) and I had to go #2 the entire race and there were no bathrooms… it was horrible.

Congrats about the magazine! That’s awesome!

My worst race experience – racing with a bad head cold in hot weather. It was a 5K and I got through the first 2 miles fine and then I felt like I was going to be sick so I had to walk the last 1.1 miles until I got to the finish line and threw up everywhere. I will never run when feel even slightly unwell again.

Congratulations on the article and cover! How exciting, and you look great!

My worst race-day was the Santa Saunter 5k ~ TOO cold and my stupid santa beard kept choking me. Funny though, in retrospect.

My worst race experience was when I did the Nashville Country Music marathon 2 yrs ago. I didn’t train enough. I’ve neverbeen so miserable. However, the worst part of all was trying to find my dad after feeling like I was dying. It took me 1.5 hrs!! I was crying cause all I wanted to do was relax. But I was proud I finished. I am running my second one next Sunday and I’m prepared. Congrats on the mag. That is soooo awesome. I will have to go buy it Sat! You def are beautiful and talented.:)

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we h When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we head to Pigeon Forge Snow. ❄️ #sponsored

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.

Here is my favorite in park Disneyland character e Here is my favorite in park Disneyland character experience: The Plaza Inn character breakfast. Here are a few things to know:

✨ Meet Minnie before you even enter the restaurant and get photos with her + a photopass photographer.
✨ Food is all you can eat. Minnie waffles, bacon, eggs, pastries, fruit, and more!
✨ Multiple characters visit your table throughout the meal.
✨ Reservations are a must and can book up quickly!

This was such a fun way to start a park day and meet several characters without spending part of the day waiting in character lines.

Getting in a walk or run when I can. Actually drinking my water. Sticking to a skincare routine instead of overthinking it. Paying attention to my hair and scalp instead of just throwing it up and moving on. Nothing extreme, just consistency in the basics.

I’ve also been using Mochi Health for personalized skincare and hair support, and it’s made it way easier to stay on track without guessing what my skin or hair needs.

If you want to try it, there’s $40 off your first month through the link in my bio. @joinmochi #joinmochi mochihealth

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro took part in Cork to Fork on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, and every bite felt like a love letter to local flavor. From bourbon-glazed pork belly to a warm cinnamon-bourbon bread pudding that honestly didn’t stand a chance at our table… this was one of those meals you remember.

Mountain views, chef-driven dishes, and whiskey worked right into the menu in the best way. 😋
