Friday Favorites: Galaxy S Vibrant

February 11, 2011 | Uncategorized

GGGOOODDDD morning friends! I hope everyone is having a great day so far. I am super excited because I have a fun filled race weekend ahead of me! That’s right, Sunday Bobby and I are running the Mardi Gras Rock n Roll half marathon with some friends who are coming in town today! They are staying here tonight then tomorrow we will drive downtown for the expo and stay there for the night in a hotel, just like we did last year. If you are a new follower, go to my race recaps page and scroll down to last year’s race and catch up!

Ok, onto Friday favorites and house pictures! Before I begin, I want to be clear I was NOT given a new phone. We switched phones and providers because of my husband’s job, and it was a lot cheaper for us to do so. I will admit, when my husband first presented me with the idea, I was really upset. I was very attached to my cool iPhone, and thought life would cease to exist if I ever had to get another phone. Little did I know what I was missing out on! Here is a funny video to show you how I was, and how I think a LOT of iPhone users are. I am admitting I was one of these, just wanting it because it is an iPhone, not caring what it could or couldn’t do. This is the clean version of the video:

It’s only a couple minutes long but REALLY funny. Basically this customer comes in demanding the iPhone 4 not caring that there are phones way better, cheaper, and more technologically advanced. Granted, I didn’t ever really have problems with my iPhone, I just didn’t realize there was something BETTER until it was given to me.

NOW, I am the proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy S. This. phone. rocks.

Here are some of the reasons that I like it better than the iPhone…

– faster GPU
– bigger screen
– less reflective screen
– sharper, more colors and all around better screen in my opinion

– percentage of screen to phone size ratio is better than the iphone (meaning a larger majority of the phones dimensions are the screen and not wasted space for a bezel) so the Samsung dimensions are smaller vs. it’s screen size,
– HDMI compatibility (with the saumsung adapter),
– removable battery **big plus here**
– it’s running android!!, so better quality apps due to open market and no apple censorship,
– slightly bigger battery (1500mAh vs. 1420mAh),
– with the AMOLED screen, bigger battery, and with Froyo this phone’s battery will far outlast the Iphones battery.
– can video call over 3G to ANY video-call capable device !
– has true multi-tasking
– Ability to play most video files
– Bluetooth file transfer
– Flash support
– Swype is amazing! also love talk to text feautre.
– Expandable memory
– Lighter than the iphone
– FM radio and adobe

I still think the iPhone is a good phone, don’t get me wrong, but the Galaxy is better for ME I am having a blast learning about it. (These are just SOME of the cool features by the way! There are many more!) Please don’t flame me saying the iPhone is better than sliced bread and I don’t know what I’m talking about. I am NOT saying the iPhone is bad, I am just a new convert and wanted to share. Before I knew about them, I simply was just uneducated about any other phone!

Ok, on to more fun stuff! Bobby went by our house on his way back up to our old house yesterday, and he took some pictures for me! Walkthrough is MONDAY!

They still have to put on shutters, paint the rails white, build the back privacy fence and front picket fence, etc.

carpet!

you can see the railing on the stairs in the top left corner

Downstairs guest bathroom

Wwweee! Ok, must go get ready, Karen and Jason and Bobby will be here later!

QOTD: What kind of phone do you have? do you like it?

its so comical, and I can laugh bc I WAS one of those people! Just wanted it just bc. Its still a good phone though, but ATT charges way too much for it and the plans.

Haha, do I like my phone? What a funny question because you know the answer. I have the Verizon Storm and I’m on my 4th one in 1.5 years. It is the WORST phone in the world. I’m eligible for an upgrade in two weeks, but I’ll just wait until it breaks again so my phone insurance covers it.
Anyway, glad you like your new one! The house looks great! Have so much fun racing w/ Karen this weekend! I’m sure you all will do great 🙂

I am so obsessed with my iPhone! But my whole family is on ATT so I can get by with lower plans because everything I do is mobile to mobile, which is free.

    Your house looks GORGEOUS! 🙂

thats how we were with the mobile to mobile (we had like 700 shared minutes?) and then when hubby started his new job 700 wasnt cutting it anymore for work related calls haha! our unlimited talk text and data is now 50 bucks less a month than 700 minutes and text/data we had with ATT!

We, too, switched phone services & I got the Galaxy S & really like it! I might suggest 2 free apps. Advanced Task Manager which will really save your battery & Lookout for antivirus & backup.

I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just o I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just okay.” Like, fine in a pinch… but never something I craved. 👀

But then this little picnic happened—just me, my girl, and a sweet treat we both loved enough to fight over the last bite. 😅

We’ve been trying to be more mindful with food choices lately (especially with summer travel coming up), and I grabbed these So Delicious treats at Kroger kind of on a whim. The new packaging caught my eye, but it was the taste that totally surprised us. Creamy. Indulgent. No weird aftertaste. And no, we’re not fully dairy-free—and we still loved them.

It’s one of those little swaps that doesn’t feel like giving anything up.

And that? That’s a win for both of us. ✨@So_Delicious

🚨 Homeschool decision!! If you have been aroun 🚨 Homeschool decision!!

If you have been around here since Christmas time, then you know we pulled Emma Kate out of her private school after the first semester and put her in a hybrid homeschool for the spring. The main reason being we wanted more absences than the school allowed.

What is a hybrid? In our case, she went to a school all day 3 days a week, and we taught her at home two days a week.

It seemed like the best of both worlds, not having absences count since we were also her teachers, being able to stay home some, sleep in, and travel.

Well, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For one, the school we sent her to ended up not being what we thought. We were told being absent wouldn’t be a problem, but it became clear very early on her teacher was not a fan and she was not kind or accommodating to Emma Kate. There’s a lot of other reasons we didn’t blown the school I won’t go into. (If you are local and considering hybrid feel free to dm me and I will share my concerns and grievances.)

Teaching your kid is hard. There were lots of tears and frustrations, and she got bored since Bobby and I also work from home/I’m not a stay at hoke mom. We couldn’t just sit with her all day and teach her with our crazy long hours owning two businesses.

It was tough to keep a schedule and while getting to travel a lot was great, she didn’t thrive on not having a routine and struggled with the randomness of everything.

She is also a very social only child who missed her friends and also wants to play sports for her school.

In the end while there were a lot of pros to hybrid homeschool, the cons outweighed them for us so we are returning to her old school in the fall.

Am I glad we did it? Yes! I always would have wondered otherwise and now we know. We will still be pulling her out of school some to travel in the fall, just not as much.

If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer the best I can! 🩷
