Friday Favorites: New Bedding

November 11, 2011 | Uncategorized

Good morning, I am so happy it’s Friday!  Not to mention it’s 11/11/11. How weird is THAT? I am dorky and want to write on something like a check or a bill just so I can write the date. I know, I know…strange.  I have a fun weekend planned with my family and am excited to see my parents tonight. My foot still hurts so I am basically doing a whole not of nothing and it is starting to drive me crazy. Bummer.

I mentioned a few days ago that I bought a new comforter set for our bed. The set that was on our bed was really for a queen bed (not the sheets, obviously) and we have had that since we were married almost 5 years ago and we have had one king bed for 1.5 years so it was definitely time for a comforter that actually fit the bed. When I got the go ahead, I looked and looked and couldn’t find anything I liked. I looked for two weeks to no avail, then I saw the perfect set at TARGET! So, my Friday favorite is my new comforter set that I am obsessed with:

Now, I think a little differently than some…when I saw how cheap it was instead of getting excited I thought “how long is this cheap crap going to hold up” but decided to take a chance so we will see how long until I am kicking myself for buying something cheap. But for now I really really love it!

Ignore the fact that one of the shams doesn’t have a King pillow in it, I have yet to buy one to swap it out with.  Target also had this set with green instead of blue for those who like the pattern but not the color. Personally I love brown and blue, they were my wedding colors!

Holy moly I can’t believe that was almost five years ago!

Now we just need some curtains on the windows and we will be all set! (I HATE when there is a full moon, it’s ssooo bright in there! I am thinking either brown or white curtains. Thoughts? I am not the interior decorator type.  Any other tips?

Ok I have to do some dusting and vacuuming before my parents get here. One thing I love about having company over, it forces me to really clean my house. Have a great day everyone!

QOTD: What color/pattern is on your comforter set? Any tips for me for my bedroom?

Very cute! I’m awful at decorating, too. And I have no patience for it! Sigh 🙁

I love it! (And your bedroom is huge!) Our bedroom has brown and blue too – I love the brown, my husband loves the blue. We make it work 🙂

As for your curtains, I would go brown. Not only will it ‘pop’ on the cream walls, but it will also not let as much light through!

I love the brown and blue! Those are the colors I wanted to go with in our bedroom, except the girls sleep with us and I was afraid the blue would really show the dog hair. I went with brown and sage green. We have brown curtains that I love. No comforter, though, because even when it’s 39 degrees outside, with two adults and two dogs in the bed, it’s like a sauna.

I love it! When we actually get a house, I want to use dark brown and light blue as the primary color palette.

LOVE the bedding set, might have to pick it up in brown/green – which were my wedding colors! 🙂

Wow, your room is so empty! You saw all the crap in my house…lol

Love the new set! Our comforter is light-ish blue with some lighter cloud like patterns. We really need a new one, though.

I’m not much of a decorator, either. I don’t even have any curtains on my windows, just blinds. I don’t know what kind of curtains you want, but I’d go with the blue since your wood floor is brown. Or, do something in a similar pattern as your comforter? Do they make matching curtains or sheets? If they have sheets, use those and make curtains or a valance…

our room is huge, we just don’t have a lot of furniture and things for it. most of our junk is in the bonus room and the downstairs “office” lol.

Heather-we continue to think alike. We have the same set! I love ours. We’ve had it over a year; I wash the comforter all the time since Scarlett likes to get up there. We have some silky chocolate grommet panels on our windows-and they go quite nicely with it. The price was right when we bought it too-always a plus. 🙂 Cheers!

I would go with brown and maybe you could add like a blue scarf type of thing draped over the tops??

I love that combo! My master bedroom has kind of masculine colors (khaki on the walls that I painted with a bluish/gray carpet that was there when I moved in) so I’ve gone with the black/white/blue theme. I found a great Martha Stewart set that I love. What I love even more than the set? It’s machine washable! A lot of them are dry clean which I hate. The bedroom still needs some work but it’s pretty cozy in the meantime. 🙂

Very cute! I love the colors and how it ties in with the wedding cake!

We have dark brown, white and a sage-y green color in our bedroom. The hardest part for me was finding something that wasn’t super rustic but also not so girly The Husband would opt to sleep on the couch! His Gma helped me out big time by making us a really cute quilt and I just based everything else around that.

I’m not that great at decorating because everything we have in our room was bought at a really steep discount so I have issues buying anything at full or close to full price because I KNOW I can get it for cheaper if I just wait and keep looking!

      November 13, 2011 at 11:36 am

that was the hard balance trying to find something not too girly!

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we h When the Smoky Mountain heat gets unbearable, we head to Pigeon Forge Snow. ❄️ #sponsored

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.

✨ Meet Minnie before you even enter the restaurant and get photos with her + a photopass photographer.
✨ Food is all you can eat. Minnie waffles, bacon, eggs, pastries, fruit, and more!
✨ Multiple characters visit your table throughout the meal.
✨ Reservations are a must and can book up quickly!

This was such a fun way to start a park day and meet several characters without spending part of the day waiting in character lines.

Getting in a walk or run when I can. Actually drinking my water. Sticking to a skincare routine instead of overthinking it. Paying attention to my hair and scalp instead of just throwing it up and moving on. Nothing extreme, just consistency in the basics.

I’ve also been using Mochi Health for personalized skincare and hair support, and it’s made it way easier to stay on track without guessing what my skin or hair needs.

Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro took part in Cork to Fork on the Tennessee Whiskey Trail, and every bite felt like a love letter to local flavor. From bourbon-glazed pork belly to a warm cinnamon-bourbon bread pudding that honestly didn’t stand a chance at our table… this was one of those meals you remember.

Mountain views, chef-driven dishes, and whiskey worked right into the menu in the best way. 😋
