Friday Favorites: Smoothies

July 1, 2011 | Uncategorized

It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday! So how many of you hate me now for getting that song stuck in your head? Your welcome!

Ok, so how many of you have been obsessed with smoothies now that it’s summertime? MEMEMEME! It’s weird. I VERY rarely eat smoothies in the winter, but as soon as it starts to get warm, they are all I eat. Almost daily. My blender is getting a serious workout!

The great thing about smoothies is that there are so many varieties right? And lets face it, it’s kinda hard to make a nasty tasting fruit smoothie, unless you are adding in a bunch of stuff or nasty flavored protein powder.

So what are my faves? I keep a stock of bags of frozen fruit in my freezer for starters. Outside of that, I use two main kinda of frozen mixes. Jamba juice and Yoplait. The yoplait is milk based, and the Jamba juice is well, duh, juice (apple) based. Depending on my mood, I sway back and forth on which base I want, so I like to keep both kinds in my freezer.

I also like to keep spinach on hand for green monsters. Honestly as much as I like the taste of these, I can’t handle the consistency too much, especially after a run and I just want a nice cold smoothie.

My favorite “store bought” smoothie is of course from Smoothie King. My two favorite flavors are slim n trim strawberry and immune builder. If you haven’t tried these, you are missing out!

I would love to experiment with some new smoothie flavors (I have a couple on my recipe page) one day when I have some time.

Yesterday I ran 3 easy miles at my parents house. I had some running skirts sales appointments over in their neck of the woods. I tried running in some racing flats to see if it hurt my knee, and WOW I am not used to running in flats! My calves and feet were SCREAMING and I am sure I will pay tomorrow!

QOTD: What is your favorite smoothie combo? homemade or store bought?

Yum! My favorite smoothie is usually peanut butter, banana, and yogurt/milk. But pb and bananas gross me out now that I’m pregnant so I stick with berries and yogurt/ milk. I am not a fan of juice-based smoothies. Yuck!

I have Jamba every morning and a huge smoothie for dinner at night–I’m definitely obsessed (or in a rut?!)!

I’m very particular about my smoothies. The more fruit the better, no banana because it ends up overwhelming the taste of everything else, must be 100% smooth no chunks and I’m not really down with chocolatey, peanut buttery smoothies. Those are for shakes only.

Those smoothies look yummy. I haven’t tried Jamba juice, but I have tried yoplait smoothies! I love them! About your comment on my blog, Karen and I are not doing the calorie counting together. She is doing the Jillian diet, I am just watching my caloric intake with Brian!

I love smoothies!! I’m usually a Jamba girl if I’m going store-bought or I make my own with frozen fruit, milk and protein powder. I haven’t tried the Jamba or Yoplait frozen mixes. I’ll have to check in to those!

The beaches of Alabama are the kind of place where the days feel slow, the kids are happy, and you don’t feel like you need a vacation after your vacation.

Alabama beaches in the spring just make sense.

2016 was a VERY big year for us. Moving states. Running multiple businesses. Being accused of getting a divorce. 🤣🫣 People are wild, yall.

Looking back they were some hard, wild times and I now know more hard times were ahead for us, but I wouldn’t change any of it. I know it’s part of our story, God had a plan, and there is a reason for it all. Just gotta keep keeping on! ❤️
