Geaux!

December 4, 2011 | Uncategorized

Good morning! It’s a good day to be an LSU Tiger! The first half may not have been pretty, but we did it, and are SEC champions! Next stop, BCS championship game. I almost had a heart attack during half time, but they didn’t let me down in the second half. I proudly sported my LSU shirt today at Bobby’s cheer competition. Oh yes, you read that right. I hobbled around with my boot at a cheerleading competition. Lots of little girls and lots of makeup and hair bows!

Not only does Bobby coach tumbling and partner stunting, but he competes on their open squad (coed any age) and they performed today at a competition in town for fun as an exhibition team. They did really really well for hardly ever practicing. Ha! Bobby can do a lot cooler of stunts than some of the ones he did here, but this is just a taste of his capability. He’s really really good!

Bobby is 2nd guy from the right (I zoom in on him in the beginning and several times during the competition while he is doing stunts)

For those that don’t know, Bobby was supposed to play football in college, but after football season his senior year of high school he had to have major stomach surgery and was told he couldn’t play anymore (being hit in the stomach would not be good.) He had some friends who did cheer and we ended up being a natural, and he competed for 5 years in college and coached (and still currently does) for many many years. He’s not the best tumbler, but he is great at partner stunting.

He even got a trophy. Weeeeee!

Sadly, I don’t have a flexible bone in my body, and was taller than the girls he puts up when I was in 5th grade so sadly for my future offspring, cheering is probably NOT in their future. Hopefully they will be all over volleyball and basketball though.

QOTD: Did you play sports in high school or college? Which ones?

**Send me a picture of your outdoor Christmas lights and I will post it closer to Christmas!

The video was fun to see, so thanks for posting! I never did cheerleading, but I did dance for many years.

So, who would you prefer to meet in the BCS championship game? What do you think is the right thing to do?

tough question. I hate the way the BCS does bowl games! I think it should be done more like the NFL playoffs.
Part of me thinks we should play bama, and part of me thinks wait, we already BEAT them, why should we have to play them again? It’s tough!

Oh my gosh I loooove that type of cheer stuff! I used to watch the cheer competitions on ESPN all the time in HS! Sadly, I do not have a tumbling bone in my body. If only you could get by with enthusiasm!

oh I don’t either. I can’t even go a cartwheel. I find it fascinating. You should see some of the stuff he can do with a really good stunt partner. This is nothing compared to it! He actually did a video of nationals for ESPN in college but got hurt right before they filmed (shoulder) so they had to change the routine to make it easier and STILL got 27th (top 25 go to nationals) I so wish he wouldnt have gotten hurt b/c I know they would have made it to nationals!

I will vouch that Bobby is a great stunt partner. And watching that video made me miss stunting, ha! Unfortunately, while I can tumble, I was never great at it, so it kept me from most of the cheer squads (thankfully not in college…and Bobby is actually one of the ones who taught me to stunt, ha!). I would love to do a co-ed squad now just so I could continue to stunt, but again, most want girls who can tumble, and since I haven’t even attempted to tumble in over 5 years, I doubt I could do much of any tumbling now without breaking my neck, lol.

haha so glad to have someone else who can vouch for his abilities. Some people think it’s silly or “gay” what he can do, but they just have no idea how difficult it is to hold one or even two in his case people in the air like that! Lots of strength, lots of practice.
You could be on an open squad! If you were here you could totally be on this squad. Bobby doesn’t tumble anymore (for performances)

Oh my gosh, that is crazy how high he’s throwing those girls up in the air! I feel like that should shatter his arms on the way down (not that the girls are big but jeez they’re falling from pretty high up!). I know a handful of guys who cheered on college teams and they’re the strongest dudes. And I bet the girls they’re throwing around are thankful for that!!

If you’re planning a trip to Florida’s Forgotten C If you’re planning a trip to Florida’s Forgotten Coast, save this one. 🌊 #RentingTheCoastPartner

We stayed at Singing Waves in Cape San Blas, and it was everything we wanted in a beach getaway: beautiful views, plenty of space, and the kind of place that makes you slow down and actually enjoy vacation.

What really stood out, though, was Renting the Coast. They’re a locally owned, family run company that manages vacation homes throughout Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe, Mexico Beach, and the surrounding Forgotten Coast communities.

Instead of managing hundreds of properties, they intentionally keep their inventory smaller so they can provide a more personal experience for both guests and homeowners. They’re known for being accessible, responsive, and focused on making sure every stay goes smoothly.

If Cape San Blas has been on your travel list, Singing Waves is absolutely worth checking out, and so is Renting the Coast’s collection of homes along Florida’s most underrated stretch of coastline. ☀️

I didn’t realize how much mental space hair removal was taking up until it just… wasn’t anymore. Between games, trips, and everything in between, having something I can do at home in minutes has been a total game changer. The app-guided treatments keep me consistent without having to think about it, and I’m already noticing smoother skin that actually lasts. And yes — the full-body, 10-minute-at-home situation still feels a little unreal.

If you’ve been on the fence, Prime Day (June 14–27) is definitely the moment to check it out with $120 off. #BraunSmartIPL

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️
