Heart Health Recap and Fitbit Giveaway

March 6, 2015 | blogging, fitness, Giveaway, motivation, running

Two giveaways in one week? Heck yes! It is Friday after all, so why not? You may remember I posted at the beginning of February about heart health and some goals I had for the month. I had some great tools form Staples to help me try to reach my goals, and while I didn’t reach them all, it was fun trying!

1.) Take time for myself every day

2.) Delegate- Eh. Still need to work on this one but getting better.

3.) Let things go- I had a couple of things happen this month to upset me, but after the initial anger I chose to let them go and I feel so much better not dwelling on the stress or haters.

4.) plan ahead- We went on vacation and I had to do a LOT of planning ahead to make sure things were covered at work, at home, etc. and everything went smoothly!

5.) run 100 miles- I only ran about 55 miles last month. I realized picking the shortest month of the year for such a  lofty goal probably wasn’t the best idea! Also, I was dealing with a hip injury so I was actually running less. Oh well! I will have to try this one again.

Something that really helped me stay active every day this month was my Fitbit One. I aim for 10k steps a day, and like to check in during the day to see where I am and if I need to do some more moving around. It’s been a great accountability tool!

I haven’t counted my steps but 10,000 seems like a great number to strive for. I’m usually on the go and I try to run a few times a week. I’m really curious about how many steps I take!

  2. ErIn J says

    March 6, 2015 at 2:26 am

I haven’t counted my steps since a college health class required us to wear pedometers 🙂 this Fitbit looks way cooler than that was! 🙂

  3. Shelby Giancaspro says

    March 6, 2015 at 2:39 am

I aim for 10k a day but I’m not too strict about it especially when I’m in a marathon training because I don’t want to force myself to move more when it’s supposed to be a rest day.

  4. Beth Pelc says

    March 6, 2015 at 4:46 am

10,000 is a good goal for me. I think I probably hit that most days when I work. And the weekends when my baby is fussiest I probably surpass that just walking her around the house 🙂

  5. Bridie Rist says

    March 6, 2015 at 5:09 am

I aim for 10000 each day but try not obsess too much if I don’t hit it each day.

  6. Erica says

    March 6, 2015 at 5:26 am

I try to get 10K steps a day as well. Don’t always get there but all this snow probably doesn’t help!

  7. Kendra Walton says

    March 6, 2015 at 5:33 am

I aim for 10,000. Always happy when i go over!

  8. Jude says

    March 6, 2015 at 5:34 am

I am for 10K a day. I work in an office and when busy, I realize how sedentary that is. So I’ve started to add a once-a-day-climb-the-stairs-to-the-top-of-my-building, which helps (42 floors). Half marathon training started last week so that should help too…

  9. Ashleigh says

    March 6, 2015 at 5:36 am

I haven’t tracked my steps in a long time.it would be interesting to see what I do on an average day these days!

  10. Emily S says

    March 6, 2015 at 5:51 am

I would aim for 10,000 steps a day, and increase my goal as my running mileage increased 🙂 I am pretty sure I walk a lot less than i think I do at work!

  11. Stacey says

    March 6, 2015 at 6:03 am

    10,000 +

  12. Corinne says

    March 6, 2015 at 6:14 am

I am aiming for 10,000 steps.

  13. Stacey Niedzwiecki says

    March 6, 2015 at 6:17 am

I aim for 10,000 steps a day. How busy we are at work has a lot to do with whether I reach that goal or not.

  14. Kim Smelser says

    March 6, 2015 at 6:23 am

Not having owned a step counter before I would probably start with 10,000 and see how that goes. I am a very goal motivated type person. Thanks for the giveaway chance!

  15. Kathryn @ Dancing to Running says

    March 6, 2015 at 6:55 am

My goal is 10,000 steps (without counting any of my running or other workouts).

  16. Jen A says

    March 6, 2015 at 6:59 am

I know my goal should be 10k steps a day but I am happy on a non-running day if I can get 6k. Running days 10k is doable.

  17. Julie M says

    March 6, 2015 at 7:00 am

10k is a good goal for me. I have a pretty active job but I think I overestimate my steps some days.

  18. Kerry says

    March 6, 2015 at 7:11 am

I’ve always wanted a fitbit! I would love to be actually be able to track my steps and activity every day!

  19. Karen Kalinowski says

    March 6, 2015 at 7:22 am

10K is a great goal. I would love a fitbit to see how many steps I actually walk in a day. Could you imagine at Disney World how many steps you take

  20. Kaitlyn @Keeping up with Kaitlyn says

    March 6, 2015 at 7:37 am

I’ve never counted my steps, because I’ve never used anything to do so. But I’d like to think i get close to 8,000 a day. I’d love to be able to track them and really push for at least 10,000. I’m a nursing student, so I know on my clinical days i’m probably getting way about that!

  21. Carrie @carrieknitrun says

    March 6, 2015 at 7:43 am

Those goals sound very lofty! 100 miles a month! 25 miles a week….hmmmm I think I could only hit that if I was marathon training.

  22. Kay says

    March 6, 2015 at 7:54 am

10,000 steps is a good goal for me but with the cold/snow it just hasn’t been happening.

  23. Mindy @ Road Runner Girl says

    March 6, 2015 at 8:14 am

I try for 10K steps a day. I don’t always meet that goal though but I’m usually close!

  24. Lauren says

    March 6, 2015 at 8:23 am

I aim for 12,000 steps a day. Since I work on my feet all day 10,000 is usually pretty easy to meet!

  25. Shayna says

    March 6, 2015 at 8:31 am

I aim for 10K steps per day. The days that I’m at work and on my feet 12+ hours it’s very easily to hit that and beyond! The days that I’m at home and working on my blog, or travel agency, it is a bit more difficult since I’m sitting at the computer!

  26. Farrah says

    March 6, 2015 at 9:08 am

10k! It may be difficult though because my exercise of choice is lifting weights or BJJ, but here’s to hoping!

  27. KarlaG says

    March 6, 2015 at 9:15 am

I’ve never counted my steps before but I bet it would get me moving even more.

  28. John @ run. geek. run(disney) says

    March 6, 2015 at 9:22 am

I want to get myself to the common 10K, but for now I’m working on 7,000 a day. I used to have a fitbit, the force that got recalled, but currently just using the slightly more inaccurate version on my phone, so this would really help.

  29. Erin @ Her Heartland Soul says

    March 6, 2015 at 9:23 am

    I try for 10k!

  30. Crystal M says

    March 6, 2015 at 9:44 am

I love the idea of setting new goals for each month. I’m going to try it and see if I can get more accomplished that way. Thanks for the idea.

  31. Elle says

    March 6, 2015 at 9:47 am

I don’t really count steps – but I love to jog at least 4 miles most days of the week.

  32. Crystal M says

    March 6, 2015 at 9:47 am

I haven’t actually ever tracked my steps throughout a day but it’s be interesting to see how many I do take since I am constantly on my feet and running around for my job.

  33. Lacey Williams says

    March 6, 2015 at 9:49 am

I would’ve to be able to make it 10k steps in a day!

  34. KV says

    March 6, 2015 at 9:52 am

I try to get at least 8,000 a day.

  35. Julia says

    March 6, 2015 at 10:08 am

I’ve never tracked my steps, so I would start with a goal of 10,000.

  36. Nina Reed says

    March 6, 2015 at 10:11 am

I aim for 12,000 steps a day, and I hit that most days since I walk to and from work. My weekends some times get less steps, since I spend more time at the gym and less time walking 🙂

  37. Tara says

    March 6, 2015 at 10:15 am

I aim for 12k steps a day. I’m a teacher so I’m always on the move!

  38. Shelby says

    March 6, 2015 at 10:16 am

I have not been able to find a pedometer that is accurate and doesn’t annoy me, so I haven’t tried counting my steps n a long time. What I love about fitbit is that you can wear it on your wrist instead of the kind that clips on to your clothes.

  39. Jennifer says

    March 6, 2015 at 10:18 am

I know that I used to try to get in 10,000 steps a day.

  40. Tristin says

    March 6, 2015 at 10:50 am

I’d like to aim for 10,000 steps a day, but I doubt I get anywhere close to that except on days when I get a workout in.

  41. Victoria says

    March 6, 2015 at 10:57 am

I aim for 10,000 steps a day. Most days I am good to go- but others I fall short and wonder why!

  42. Ben says

    March 6, 2015 at 11:21 am

I try to take 10,000, which is easy with a morning run, but far more difficult on the “lethargic” days with no planned workout.

  43. Emmy Lou says

    March 6, 2015 at 11:34 am

I am for 10k a day! I normally don’t hit it, but would love a fitbit to help motivate me to do so!

  44. Amanda Sakovitz says

    March 6, 2015 at 11:51 am

I would say 10,000 steps daily.

  45. beth says

    March 6, 2015 at 12:07 pm

I think 10K is a good goal, it would be nice to have a reminder to move more throughout the day

  46. Jessica says

    March 6, 2015 at 12:30 pm

I am interested to know how many steps I take as a college student. I think that between running and walking to class everyday, I take more than I think!

  47. Ken C says

    March 6, 2015 at 1:09 pm

10K steps a day outside of running sounds good

  48. Ruth C says

    March 6, 2015 at 1:20 pm

10K steps a day sounds good to me too

  49. Jenn @ Fairest Run of All says

    March 6, 2015 at 1:28 pm

I guess start at 10,000… but would my runs count? I think they should! 😉

  50. Nathan says

    March 6, 2015 at 1:30 pm

    10k a day!

  51. Sandy says

    March 6, 2015 at 1:40 pm

10K steps/day is my goal, but it’s really tough when I have work from home days (or even worse, travel for work days where I spend 4+ hours in a car). This winter weather doesn’t help to motivate me either. I can’t wait for spring!

  52. Erica Berraho says

    March 6, 2015 at 2:25 pm

I so need this, I especially needed it to count all those steps around WDW, lol!

  53. Elizabeth T says

    March 6, 2015 at 2:29 pm

    Thats a great goal!

  54. Elizabeth T says

    March 6, 2015 at 2:30 pm

My goal is 10.000 steps, at least over a mile

  55. Holly E says

    March 6, 2015 at 2:37 pm

I am definitely trying for 10,000 steps per day.

  56. Jeffrey says

    March 6, 2015 at 3:02 pm

I would actually like to win this for my wife, guessing she would want to be somewhere in the 12K range.

  57. Angela says

    March 6, 2015 at 3:24 pm

Oh gosh, I have no idea. I would want to know how many I already take and aim for at least 25% more than that. Once I hit that goal consistently I’d aim for another 25% increase. I know it’s not an actual number but it feels like that would be more attainable.

  58. Kelly Short says

    March 6, 2015 at 4:11 pm

I want to walk at 10,000 steps and make sure I get up and walk around during the workday. It’s so easy to just sit at my desk all day.

  59. Meena R says

    March 6, 2015 at 4:20 pm

My goal is definitely 10,000. I don’t hit it everyday, but I try to get as many steps as possible.

  60. Linda F. says

    March 6, 2015 at 4:21 pm

    8k makes me happy.

  61. Kimberly @ Healthy Strides says

    March 6, 2015 at 4:25 pm

I don’t have a set goal, especially right now. I am recovering from piriformis syndrome at 34 weeks pregnant. I’m just happy to walk!

  62. Jill says

    March 6, 2015 at 4:30 pm

I’ve heard that 10,000 steps is a good goal. I’ve never tracked my steps before so if be super interested to see what I do on a normal day!

  63. Dorena says

    March 6, 2015 at 5:34 pm

I never tracked my steps because I don’t have a device to track them.

  64. Tabitha Young says

    March 6, 2015 at 6:00 pm

I don’t count my steps, but I have always heard that 10,000 steps was a great goal! I hope that I can start counting them soon!

  65. Rebecca @ Strength and Sunshine says

    March 6, 2015 at 6:08 pm

    I’d say 9000 to 10000!

  66. Samantha says

    March 6, 2015 at 7:17 pm

I’ve never tracked my steps, but am pretty active at work – I’d love to see how many steps I take in a day.

  67. Kim Henrichs says

    March 6, 2015 at 7:17 pm

    I feel good if I’ve done 7,000

  68. Sally says

    March 6, 2015 at 7:33 pm

What a fun game that must be… (can I take 10 more steps then yesterday!) Humm I wonder how much I walk in a day.

  69. Becca says

    March 6, 2015 at 9:36 pm

    I’ve been aiming for 8k!

  70. Megan says

    March 6, 2015 at 11:59 pm

I aim for 5000-8000 steps a day. I don’t have a desk job so I do a lot of walking throughout the day. All my residents ask me how many miles I put on in the day

  71. Joy says

    March 7, 2015 at 3:19 am

I know 10,000 is what a person should have…but since having HK I know I don’t get anywhere near that. I think getting to 5,000 a day would be a great start and then increase. I’ve never had anything to track my steps before…and this would be a great tool. (The sleep tracker is also appealing, although I’m pretty sure you have to be asleep for it to work.

  72. Lori Bahn says

    March 7, 2015 at 4:58 am

I don’t own anything to keep track of my steps but I’m a single mom and always on the go. I play the role of dad too. I’d love to see what I’ve stepped in a day. I’m going to start walking once the weather turns around so this would be amazing to win. Thanks for the chance and good luck everyone

  73. Lisa Green says

    March 7, 2015 at 7:00 am

What a great giveaway! I try to run 3-5 miles, 5 days a week (when I’m not training for anything special), but I’ve never tracked my steps walking around all day – tracking would be a great way to get motivated to park a little farther away from the door or take the stairs instead of the elevator! I feel certain 10,000 would be doable.

  74. Nina says

    March 7, 2015 at 7:40 am

i try to hit 10k steps everyday, but usually only reach that goal on days I run, which feels a bit like cheating..

  75. Paige c says

    March 7, 2015 at 10:55 am

    My goal is 15,000

  76. Ashley says

    March 7, 2015 at 12:12 pm

I just got through the first trimester, and I’m hoping that more energy and better weather help me with this goal – I’d like to hit 10,000 each day!

  77. Gina says

    March 7, 2015 at 12:29 pm

New job has me pretty sedentary. 🙁 I’ve been eyeballing purchasing a fitbit so would love to win it instead!

  78. Meg says

    March 7, 2015 at 2:56 pm

I would love to do 10,000!

  79. April says

    March 7, 2015 at 5:36 pm

I’ve never really counted my steps although my job has me running around literally and doing other physical activities. I think I would be similar to other people on here that it would be round 10K.

  80. Erika says

    March 7, 2015 at 6:01 pm

I’d love to have one of these! I would try to have 10,000 everyday.

    at least 10,000

  94. Margaret Smith says

    March 8, 2015 at 3:41 pm
