I grew up going to Destin, Florida for beach trips. Growing up in the New Orleans area, it was just one of two beaches everyone went to, depending on how far they wanted to drive. I have so many amazing memories of the beautiful sugar white sands, and towering condos. One thing that was always lacking though was actual resorts. Sure you can get a condo of any size on any corner, but if you wanted a luxury resort experience that was also family friendly…you would be hard pressed. A few years ago when staying at Henderson Park Inn, which is adults only, we saw signs going up for the Henderson Beach Resort, and were so excited! It may have taken us a few years but we finally made our way over, and were absolutely blown away by this hidden gem. Read on to see our top 5 favorite things!
1.) Stunning Aesthetics
This resort is flat out gorgeous. We arrived on a gloomy day, but it didn’t matter! I spent the first couple of hours just wandering around staring at how beautiful it was. Form the lobby to the pools to the well appointed rooms, there is elegance and attention to detail around every corner. Every hallway and wall was Instagram worthy, and we loved every bit of it!
2.) Plentiful Food
You will not go hungry staying at the Henderson Beach Resort! They have multiple restaurants off the lobby, poolside bars/food, food options at the beach, and even the most beautiful rooftop bar for drinks and small bites. We tried out everything except the beach bar area, and found the menus options to be plentiful and they also had lots of kid friendly options. Our favorite drinks were at the poolside bar by the pool that is on the way out to the beach. Delicious! We also very much enjoyed our first night’s dinner at Primrose Steak and Seafood. It is more upscale and delicious!
3.) Relaxing Spa
I had the opportunity to enjoy the spa one afternoon, and it was heavenly! I had an amazing massage, and spent some time in the salt suite and in the special shower. I also got to just relax and enjoy my day with some champagne on a lounge chair with a heated neck wrap. I found out they even have treatments for kids and teens! It was beautiful and relaxing and just what I needed. There are so many treatment options to explore.
4.) Beach Access
While not directly on the beach, Henderson Beach Resort has ocean views from some rooms, and super easy private access to the beach in front of Henderson Park Inn. You can also reserve beach chairs and an umbrella, so no lugging a ton of things over that you don’t need. They also have bathrooms, plus the option to purchase food and drinks from the Cantina at the beach, so you can stay all day long!
5.) Family Friendly Luxury
Lastly, and this is a little more all encompassing, but we just loved that they have the perfect blend of luxury and family, which is a hard balance to find. They have an adults only pool and lazy river, but also fun yard games and activities for kids to enjoy. There is even a kids club open seasonally! All the restaurants had kid friendly options, and they are allowed even at the rooftop bar area. We found things like cornhole and a mini putting green, wide open grassy spaces for the volleyball we brought (and many cartwheels for Emma Kate,) and she was able to make friends at the pool and play with other kids while I enjoyed a poolside drink. There were lots of little things that elevated the resort such as water and towels at the pool, quality cups that drinks came in, super friendly and helpful staff, and free starbucks coffee 24/7 right down the hall from the room.
When people ask me what makes this resort so great, my answer is that it isn’t any one big thing, but instead lots of little details all put together. We felt so pampered and relaxed here, and are already plotting when we can go back! So next time you are looking for a beach resort, be sure to check out The Henderson Beach Resort. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!
