Hop into the Weekend

April 10, 2011 | Uncategorized

Happy Weekend! Was your Saturday as busy as mine? Originally, I thought the only thing we had “planned” was our neighborhood Easter party (hence the cheesy blog post title). But then we ended up being in a video and photo shoot, and hosting a BBQ. How did this happen? It was all fun, no worries, but just funny how we went from a lazy day to running around like crazy!

We were told to show up at the front of the neighborhood at 8:30 am for our casual dress video shoot…let me back up. Our neighborhood is doing a series of promotional things…revamping the website, doing a TV commercial, print ad stuff etc. We were asked to be in two different parts. One part being a video shoot where we were to wear things like a sundress, khaki shorts and flip flops. The second was to be a video and photo shoot of us in our running gear. (Our neighborhood has nature trails they wanted to highlight). Our shots were supposed to be at 8:30 and 11:00. The Easter party was from 11-1, so we thought it would all work out well. Then Bobby tells me he invited some friends over for a BBQ….which is fine, I love hosting, but I also love having time to prepare, clean my house, go to the store, etc. So our lazy day turned into a busy one!

First things first. I wore my super cute new target sundress for the first photo shoot. Please excuse the Android photos and the fact that I still look half asleep. Because I was. And as usual, random puppies are in the pictures.

So we get there and are immediately ushered onto someone’s front porch onto a bench. We had to sit for awhile while they framed the shot, moved the camera, got the light they wanted, etc. It was really neat to watch. For the shot, they had me sit on the bench and then they had Bobby walk over holding two glasses of iced tea. He was to sit down next to me, hand me a glass, and put his arm around me while we laughed and smiled and talked. HAHA! It was hilarious because it IS the perfect picture for an advertising campaign for our neighborhood, but who really does that? SO basically I just got to sit there the whole time. They sent someone to the store to get tea because they didn’t have any…then the ice kept melting I the glasses and sweating/dripping ensued all over my dress, yes it was about 84 degrees! it was really fun and we had a blast. We are such hams. It took about 30-45 minutes, we shot it about 25 times from different angles, etc. Then we were told the still shot guy was behind and it was so sunny they were going to wait and shoot us running at 11:15. Not a big deal. We went home and put on our running clothes and cleaned up a bit then headed to the Easter party.

Here is my “runner” outfit. and another random dog butt.

Yes, I actually put on makeup for this! Folks, when you work from home, makeup just isn’t a priority.

We ate hot dogs and I had two Pina Coloda snowballs. I really wanted a bubble gum one but I don’t think the producers would have thought it funny for me to have a blue mouth for the video. They had a bounce house for the kids, Easter egg hunt, and arts and crafts!

We then found out they didn’t need us until 2:00. So we decided to run to the store to pick up food for the BBQ. We got 10 minutes down the road and got a phone call. The photo shoot wouldn’t be till 2:00, but the video guys wanted us now. Awesome. We turned back around, and headed home.

We were at the nature trail, and had to run back and forth about five or six times. Bobby and I both felt so sick to our stomachs after the snowballs and hot dogs. Not our best plan!

We jumped BACK in the car and went to the store. When we got home at 2:00, we didn’t hear from anyone so we called and were told someone would call us right back. Alright. an hour and a half later…no call. We called again at 3:30 and were told it would be about thirty more minutes. So me, being exhausted from the festivities, takes a short nap. I woke up at FOUR THIRTY and they still hadn’t called. oops. Mind you, our friends were supposed to come at 6:00. So I am freaking out because Bobby had not cut the grass yet, the house wasn’t ready, food wasn’t ready, and we had not even done our shots. Finally at about 4:50 they called, an we met them at another spot for more running back and forth. We finished after 5:00 but were told they may need us later in the week again which is fine.

So I ran around like crazy for an hour trying to get ready on time. at 6:00 we get a call saying one of our friends wouldn’t find his keys and they would be a little late. Bobby went ahead and fired up the grill because we were hungry!

Two things you need at a southern BBQ. Mosquito repelling candle, and a fan.

All arrived safe, and lots of eating commenced.

Good times were had by all, I think it was a successful night, but we were exhausted by time everyone left at about 9:30. WHEW! Went to church and lunch this morning, and now I am finally taking a breather! Are you tired just reading all that? You should be.

I think I am off to take a nap. I think I deserve it!

P.S. Check out the interview I did for Jessica

Looking back they were some hard, wild times and I now know more hard times were ahead for us, but I wouldn’t change any of it. I know it’s part of our story, God had a plan, and there is a reason for it all. Just gotta keep keeping on! ❤️
