Jeff Galloway Running Tips

February 13, 2015 | blogging, fitness, runDisney, running

Hello everyone! I was selected as a Jeff Galloway blogger and can’t wait to share some of his tips with you. I have had the opportunity to meet Jeff many times over the past few years and he is just the sweetest kindest man and I am thrilled to get to share some of his tips with you all.

I am running the LA marathon next month and am slightly undertrained, so I will be using the run/walk/run method to make it through. I have found that my finish times are VERY similar from running straight through or using the run/walk/run method. I tend to run faster during the run portion when I know I will be getting a walk break!

See below for more tips:

-A well-paced run enhances vitality for the rest of the day. Start each run at least 30 seconds a mile slower than you will run at the end.

-If you have a Run Walk Run strategy that is right for you on that day, it’s possible to feel good after every run-even the marathon.

-Running is the best stress reliever I’ve found. Research shows that running tends to activate the conscious brain which over-rides the emotional subconscious brain and manages the negative and anxiety hormones during and after the run.

-Research shows that as runners get faster, their stride length shortens. A quicker cadence is the mechanical key to faster running.

-The finishing of a run that is longer than you’ve run in the last 3 weeks can bestow a sense of achievement that is unique and empowering-due to positive brain circuits that are turned on.

-You can’t run a long run too slowly or take too many walk breaks. You’ll get the same endurance based upon the distance covered.

Thanks for the tips Jeff! I will be sharing more with you all soon!

Jeff Galloway is sooo nice in person! If I ever run another marathon I’ve decided I’ll use his run walk run method. Congrats Heather!

Congrats on being selected as a Galloway blogger! If it weren’t for his run-walk method, I’m not sure that I would have completed as many races as I have.

I used a 2 min run/:30 walk for the W&D, but recently switched to a 1 min run/:30 walk and have improved my pace on the run segments. I met Jeff at the 2014 Glass Princess expo and he was so nice!!

It’s still Thanksgiving weekend so this counts as It’s still Thanksgiving weekend so this counts as a Thanksgiving post, right? 🦃🫶🏻

I took the day off on Thursday and then worked a ton Friday, EK had bball Saturday and then we went out of town. I realized I never posted for turkey day! 😜

I have so much to be thankful for, most days I feel completely undeserving. God has been good to us, even in the days that don’t feel so good. His plans may not make sense at the time, but thankfully He is the one that sees the whole picture, not us!

We are going into the Christmas season with hearts full of gratitude and love as we celebrate the birth of Jesus. This is the most special and my favorite time of year! Let the celebrating continue!

Lastly, I am thankful for all of YOU! For liking, commenting on, and watching my content over the years. Without you, my career doesn’t exist and I am beyond thankful for the opportunities this job has given me. So THANK YOU! 🫶🏻

Using the Braun IPL has completely changed my routine, it’s the at-home alternative to salon laser hair removal that gives me long-lasting results without the appointments or pain. I started seeing results after my second use, and now I get to spend that extra time doing things I actually love — like traveling, family time, and coffee runs ☕✨

If you’ve been thinking about trying IPL, now’s the time, @BraunBeautyUS Black Friday sale is happening Nov 16 – Dec 1, with $120 off the Braun IPL. Up to 2 years of smooth, salon-like skin, right from home. #BraunIPL

This holiday season, I’m making my life a little easier with gift cards from Kroger. I grab a DoorDash card in-store, clip both the 4X and bonus 1X digital coupons in the Kroger app, and then I’m earning 5x fuel points while powering through the holiday hustle. 🎄

✨ It’s such a simple way to save at the pump while still checking off my holiday to-dos: decorating, wrapping, or just enjoying a cozy night in. These architectural gems mix rustic charm with modern design—think soaring wood ceilings, giant picture windows, and a dreamy soaker tub that makes you never want to leave. 😍

We even brought our dogs along (yes, it’s dog-friendly!) and watched deer wander by through the trees. 🐾

Valley Bear Farms is tucked in the mountains of North Carolina, surrounded by peaceful forest views and plenty to explore. The property has hiking trails, a cozy general store, and other on-site amenities that make it feel like a little mountain village all its own. ⛰️

If you’re craving a nature-filled, beautifully designed getaway where you can truly unwind, these A-Frame cabins are it.👍🏻

The Cosmo JrTrack 5 Smartwatch has been the perfect in-between for us — she can call and text the people I approve, I can see where she is with GPS, and it has school mode, SOS, activity tracking, and even a little camera she loves.

We got the Holiday Bundle with the screen protector and LaunchPad stand, and it honestly just makes the whole thing easier.

If you want the link, comment “watch” and I’ll have it sent straight to your inbox. 🎄⌚️✨

🎄 POV: Our Weekend Holiday Getaway in Pigeon Forge 🎄 POV: Our Weekend Holiday Getaway in Pigeon Forge
There’s just something about the holidays in the Smoky Mountains — the lights, the laughter, the togetherness — it all feels extra magical. #sponsored

Our first stop was Dolly Parton’s Stampede, the world’s most visited dinner attraction, and it’s easy to see why. The pre-show in the Stampede Saloon had us singing along to country and Christmas classics before we sat down for a four-course feast that could rival any holiday dinner. 🐴

Then the arena came alive with 32 magnificent horses, trick riders, and dancers bringing the spirit of the season to life with a friendly North vs. South Pole rivalry, toys that come alive, and even Santa arriving in a horse-drawn sleigh. Pure holiday joy from start to finish! 🎅🏻

Next up was the Titanic Museum Attraction, beautifully transformed into an Elegant Edwardian Christmas, giving Titanic the Christmas voyage she never got. We each received a boarding pass with the name of a real passenger, explored the Grand Staircase, and even touched the icy 28-degree water. The interactive exhibits made history come alive, and it was such an emotional, unforgettable experience for all of us.

And to end the weekend, we dove into adventure at Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show. Led by Captain Blackbeard himself, the Crimson and Sapphire crews battled for treasure with acrobatics, mermaids, fire stunts, and even a sea lion! Between the four-course pirate feast and the jaw-dropping stunts, it was nonstop fun and the perfect grand finale to our Pigeon Forge weekend. 🏴‍☠️

This trip reminded me that time together really is the best gift. Add Pigeon Forge and these incredible attractions to your holiday must-do list this season. ❤️

Comment “Pigeon Forge” and I’ll send you links to grab your tickets before they sell out!
