Little of This, Little of That

February 7, 2011 | Uncategorized

Hey everyone! It’s a chilly here in south Louisiana! I hope everyone had a fab weekend. Mine was busy with lots of driving. In case you need to catch up, Friday, I finally did my accent vlog. Saturday, I talked about the reality of my move which is coming up very, very soon. Yesterday I was super busy, drove back to NOLA just in time to catch most of the Superbowl, then went to bed. Sorry guys! But I am back!

Oh, also, I was featured in a guest post on Melinda’s blog! You can check it out HERE.

I DID manage to run yesterday though! Bobby and I did our first long run since Disney, and our last long run before the Mardi Gras half marathon next Sunday! It was an absolutely beautiful day! Not a cloud in the sky, about 56 degrees, absolutely gorgeous. We did 8 miles, fairly easily. It’s so funny how that doesn’t seem like a very long run to me anymore. yeah, marathon training screws you up like that.

Did everyone watch the Super Bowl? It was sad for me, because this time last year, my awesome Saints were taking home the trophy. It was such a fun night, very magical for the city of New Orleans and all Saints fans!

Here is the Super Bowl post I did last year: ‘Aints No More.

Also, this is an e mail I got, a short video about the Saints championship season. It made me cry! VIDEO.

As sad as I was, I am glad a team from the NFC won. I am also glad a quarterback who hasn’t had the chance to win before got the win. (Sorry, I am NOT Big Ben’s biggest fan. He is a creep.)

This weekend marks a fun time for us, as we are running the Mardi Gras Rock n Roll half marathon again! We had so much fun last year, we thought we would do it again! I ran with Karen last year, and we will be running together again this year. Here are my recaps from the race and weekend from last year, go check them out! Go HERE and scroll down to “Mardi Gras half.”

One last thing, Bobby went by our new house on his way to the coast last night. It was locked, of course, but he looked in the windows and we have appliances, and the wood floors are all down! YAY! He took a couple pics of the outside as well:

of course the one pic I REALLY wanted to see, is blurry. Way to go Bobby. They still have to do the railings, the shutters, and the front door will be black.

I think that’s all the updates for now. Have a great afternoon!

QOTD: What was your favorite super bowl commercial? I liked the Doritos one!

Is the garage in the back of the house? That’s Jeff’s dream: he hates when you pull up to a house and all you see is garage. The porches are just beautiful; I love front porches. They are a rarity here; a lot of cookie cutter pre-fab houses from the 50s in these parts.

    • Heather says

      February 7, 2011 at 12:28 pm

yes 🙂 we have an alley behind our house for the garages. the neighborhood basically forces you to put a porch on the front so you will be social with your neighbors and not hide out in your backyard which i love!

You’re house is beautiful! I bet you can’t wait to decorate. I actually didn’t see an entire commercial. We did girlie activities at the super bowl party I attended while the guys watched the game. We did however watch the half time show. 🙂

I honestly didn’t pay attention to many of the Superbowl commercials, but I did watch the game! Usually it’s the other way around, but I went to a big Packers bash this year.

wait, what? is that a porch on BOTH levels!?! whoa, that is so cool! I’m wondering, is that a southern thing? i’ve never seen that before…we don’t have that here in New England. a lot of people have a big porch on the ground floor and maybe a balcony on the second floor but not another porch level. that is SO cool!!!! Most houses here are “salt boxes” or “colonials.”
good luck at your half this weekend. I’m glad Grenn Bay won too, Ben is a TOTAL creep. Last year’s win was a big deal for us too because Ryan’s dad has been a Saints fan his whole life! have a blast this weekend!!!

    • Heather says

haha yes it is a southern thing, I LOVE the look. most of the houses in my new neighborhood look like that, or some variation of it. that was a requirement. the master on the 2nd floor with a door going out to the balcony!

I didn’t realize how much mental space hair removal was taking up until it just… wasn’t anymore. Between games, trips, and everything in between, having something I can do at home in minutes has been a total game changer. The app-guided treatments keep me consistent without having to think about it, and I’m already noticing smoother skin that actually lasts. And yes — the full-body, 10-minute-at-home situation still feels a little unreal.

If you’ve been on the fence, Prime Day (June 14–27) is definitely the moment to check it out with $120 off. #BraunSmartIPL

We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we We didn’t set out looking for a “perfect” trip… we just needed a break from the noise.
What we found in Florida was something better than that. #ad

Our first stop in Auburndale was all about slowing down in the best way. We stayed in a cozy tiny home at Camp Margaritaville (you can also stay in an RV!). We enjoyed coffee on the porch, our daughter loved the pool and waterslide (there is even a splash zone for the littles!), and at night we slowed things down with s’mores instead of screens. It felt like nature + comfort + family time all finally in the same place. They have so many other amenities like mini golf, golf cart rentals, pickleball, a playground, cornhole, and more. Nearby, we explored the Florida Children’s Museum and had incredible food and drinks at Smith’s American Tavern and Black & Brew Coffee.

Then, we headed over to Fort Myers to experience a completely different side of the state. Shelling walks at sunrise, beach volleyball, pool cabanas, and the kind of Gulf sunsets that make everyone go quiet for a minute. Direct beach access at the Margaritaville Beach Resort Fort Myers made it effortless to go from “let’s check it out” to toes in the sand in minutes. There were several restaurants on property, so we never even got in our car. That plus live music, fire pits, the spa, and lawn games made it easy to want to stay put and relax.

What stood out most wasn’t just the scenery… it was how easy it was to actually be together here. No rushing or overplanning. That’s the true Floridays feeling for me. Laid-back, a little unexpected, and exactly what we didn’t know we needed. 🌴☀️

One of our favorite family activities in Pigeon Forge because you can snow tube year-round, rain or shine, without worrying about the weather outside.

My daughter could do the tubing hill over and over, and the indoor snow play area makes it even more fun. Honestly such a good break from the summer heat. Plus, it’s super close to nearby attractions like Dollywood and several mountain coasters.
