New runDisney Medals Revealed

April 15, 2014 | Disney, runDisney, running

Hey everyone, first of all thank you so much for your kind words yesterday about my grandmother. My dad met with the social worker yesterday afternoon, and she was moved to Hospice by ambulance yesterday evening. Please keep praying especially for my mom and dad as they have to handle all of this.

On a happier note, you may have noticed runDisney released two new medals in the past couple of days, and they are so pretty! Not only that, they spin! I have become obsessed with spinner medals ever since my 2013 marathon weekend medal was put around my neck. It’s still my favorite! Can I just say how bummed I am to be missing out, particularly on Wine and Dine? I’m guessing this is just one of many sacrifices I will be making for my children Smile I love the colors and designs for both medals. The creative minds behind these designs just keep impressing me every time!

First up, the Wine and Dine 5th Anniversary medal. I LOVE the color!

Next, the 10 year Goofy design.

Obsessed with both. Too bad I swore off full marathons for a long time. Heh.

Sadly it’s too late to register for Wine and Dine, but, you can sign up to get your very own shiny new Goofy medal when registration opens! Folks, anniversary years sell out FAST so DO NOT wait around if you want to take part. Registration opens April 22, but if you are an annual passholder or DVC member, you can register THIS WEDNESDAY, April 16th. You can go to runDisney.com for more information and to sign up when registration opens.

QOTD: Did you/will you sign up for these? Thoughts on the medals? Do you like ones that spin?

My attention span doesn’t stand a chance with spinner medals. I keep saying the Tink medal is the triple threat: it’s shiny, it has glitter and it spins.

I love those medals! I just wish they did cool ones like that for 5ks! ;p

    • Heather says

      April 16, 2014 at 8:43 am

i’m kind of glad they don’t, the 5k already costs over $60 with the rubber medal, I’m sure it would be way more with a cool medal, yikes! But I get your point 🙂

Love the spinner medals! My 20th anniversary Marathon one is my favorite too! I’m not running Wine and Dine or Marathon weekend this time. I’m running Princess Weekend instead. My budget only allows me one runDisney race a year lol!

    • Heather says

      I love princess!

I guess my recent glut of Disney medals has been content that I won’t be getting either of these. I do love my Mickey Marathon medal from 2013 that spins! The medal I covet at the moment is the Boston Marathon medal that I hope to receive in 2015. I just need to stay healthy since my qualifying time should give me a spot in the field of runners.

You are a beast, I hope you go to Boston!

The Mickey 20 medal from last year is also one of my favorites! Love the spinning action and the details in the design. I don’t have plans for W&D or Goofy coming up, but am looking forward to earning another Mickey in 2015 (and hopefully C2C too…)

I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just o I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just okay.” Like, fine in a pinch… but never something I craved. 👀

But then this little picnic happened—just me, my girl, and a sweet treat we both loved enough to fight over the last bite. 😅

We’ve been trying to be more mindful with food choices lately (especially with summer travel coming up), and I grabbed these So Delicious treats at Kroger kind of on a whim. The new packaging caught my eye, but it was the taste that totally surprised us. Creamy. Indulgent. No weird aftertaste. And no, we’re not fully dairy-free—and we still loved them.

It’s one of those little swaps that doesn’t feel like giving anything up.

And that? That’s a win for both of us. ✨@So_Delicious

🚨 Homeschool decision!! If you have been aroun 🚨 Homeschool decision!!

If you have been around here since Christmas time, then you know we pulled Emma Kate out of her private school after the first semester and put her in a hybrid homeschool for the spring. The main reason being we wanted more absences than the school allowed.

What is a hybrid? In our case, she went to a school all day 3 days a week, and we taught her at home two days a week.

It seemed like the best of both worlds, not having absences count since we were also her teachers, being able to stay home some, sleep in, and travel.

Well, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For one, the school we sent her to ended up not being what we thought. We were told being absent wouldn’t be a problem, but it became clear very early on her teacher was not a fan and she was not kind or accommodating to Emma Kate. There’s a lot of other reasons we didn’t blown the school I won’t go into. (If you are local and considering hybrid feel free to dm me and I will share my concerns and grievances.)

Teaching your kid is hard. There were lots of tears and frustrations, and she got bored since Bobby and I also work from home/I’m not a stay at hoke mom. We couldn’t just sit with her all day and teach her with our crazy long hours owning two businesses.

It was tough to keep a schedule and while getting to travel a lot was great, she didn’t thrive on not having a routine and struggled with the randomness of everything.

She is also a very social only child who missed her friends and also wants to play sports for her school.

In the end while there were a lot of pros to hybrid homeschool, the cons outweighed them for us so we are returning to her old school in the fall.

Am I glad we did it? Yes! I always would have wondered otherwise and now we know. We will still be pulling her out of school some to travel in the fall, just not as much.

If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer the best I can! 🩷
