No Internet

August 11, 2014 | blogging, technology

Hey guys! Sorry for the MIA. If you have been following on Twitter, Instagram, or my Facebook page you know we have been busy moving…and busy NOT having internet (thanks AT&T!) Yall, it’s ridiculous how many times we have been lied to by them over the past week. I still have NO idea when we will be getting internet, so I got as much work done yesterday as I could while we still had access to our rental for the last day. Please hang with me this week as posting may be sporadic. I promise to come back with house pictures and such!

Just to give you an idea of how angry I was on Thursday….Bobby took this photo of me on the phone with AT&T Uverse, trying to understand a woman who did NOT speak English telling me they couldn’t give me an installation date due to a problem at a local facility….whatever that means. Oy.

Not too flattering I know, but just keeping it real. On to happy things!

I have a couple of giveaway winners to announce! First, the custom tutu. Remember, if you didn’t win, just contact Leslie and tell her you found her from my blog and she will give you FREE SHIPPING!

Winner is: Andee Thompson Hodo. Please email me at throughheatherslookingglass@gmail.com to claim your prize!

Next up is the Balance bar and Wal-Mart gift card giveaway winner: Amanda Stevens. Please email me to claim your prize!

I will continue to post from my phone via my social media accounts, so I will be around, and will be helping my clients with their vacations as well, so no worries anyone! Have a great Monday, hopefully I can rejoin the online world from my laptop soon.

QOTD: Have you had issues with internet installation before? Seems like it’s a rampant problem!

Sorry to hear about all the internet trouble! Hopefully it’ll get installed soon! We went a week without internet when we moved last month, and daily trips to Starbucks or Panera became my saving grace. With a phone that’s over two years old and super slow, I felt so disconnected from the rest of the world other than the hour or two I got to spend online each day.

That picture is hilarious – mainly because it is soooo stinkin’ true! Internet and cable installations are the biggest pains in the butt ever!

We have definitely had our fair share of AT&T problems. Their customer service isn’t great…that is for sure. My husband handles any issues with AT&T because I have a short fuse with them LOL!

Don’t know if you’re planning on using AT&T for both cable and internet, but if you have the chance to reconsider and use Comcast (or anyone else in your area) I would. We like their cable, but their internet is no bueno… especially if you want to stream anything! If you have anything recording on the DVR, it uses all the internet bandwidth to do that, so if you want to stream something while the DVR is recording, good luck. Plus, we have inconsistent speed even when we’re not using the DVR/cable.
My husband used to have DirectTV and Comcast and we wish we could switch back. I mean, it’s just a first world problem, so it’s not like you won’t survive if you can’t switch, but I do not like spending money and getting crappy service, and personally, I would rather have good internet and crappier cable than vice versa. Perhaps they have better service in MS, though…

Sorry, I’m ranting, but the point is I know how you feel! Good luck and congrats on the move!

we had uverse in our old neighborhood for internet and cable via underground fiber optics and it worked well, but their customer service stinks! I was just informed comcast isn’t available on our new street yet 🙁

Oh my goodness have I ever! When I moved to my new place, I contacted my service provider (verizon) and asked to transfer services. They took my address and scheduled a date to come out. They went to my old address THREE TIMES. Then proceeded to tell me that they couldn’t install services in my new house because they didn’t have services available out there. (You would think they’d figure this out when I first gave them the address). Then they subsequently charged me $250 cancellation fee when I cancelled my service to get a different provider who did have service available in my area. Apparently, I’m only supposed to move to houses where Verizon has service!

So sorry for your issues! I hope yours get resolved easier than mine did!

I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just o I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just okay.” Like, fine in a pinch… but never something I craved. 👀

But then this little picnic happened—just me, my girl, and a sweet treat we both loved enough to fight over the last bite. 😅

We’ve been trying to be more mindful with food choices lately (especially with summer travel coming up), and I grabbed these So Delicious treats at Kroger kind of on a whim. The new packaging caught my eye, but it was the taste that totally surprised us. Creamy. Indulgent. No weird aftertaste. And no, we’re not fully dairy-free—and we still loved them.

It’s one of those little swaps that doesn’t feel like giving anything up.

And that? That’s a win for both of us. ✨@So_Delicious

🚨 Homeschool decision!! If you have been aroun 🚨 Homeschool decision!!

If you have been around here since Christmas time, then you know we pulled Emma Kate out of her private school after the first semester and put her in a hybrid homeschool for the spring. The main reason being we wanted more absences than the school allowed.

What is a hybrid? In our case, she went to a school all day 3 days a week, and we taught her at home two days a week.

It seemed like the best of both worlds, not having absences count since we were also her teachers, being able to stay home some, sleep in, and travel.

Well, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For one, the school we sent her to ended up not being what we thought. We were told being absent wouldn’t be a problem, but it became clear very early on her teacher was not a fan and she was not kind or accommodating to Emma Kate. There’s a lot of other reasons we didn’t blown the school I won’t go into. (If you are local and considering hybrid feel free to dm me and I will share my concerns and grievances.)

Teaching your kid is hard. There were lots of tears and frustrations, and she got bored since Bobby and I also work from home/I’m not a stay at hoke mom. We couldn’t just sit with her all day and teach her with our crazy long hours owning two businesses.

It was tough to keep a schedule and while getting to travel a lot was great, she didn’t thrive on not having a routine and struggled with the randomness of everything.

She is also a very social only child who missed her friends and also wants to play sports for her school.

In the end while there were a lot of pros to hybrid homeschool, the cons outweighed them for us so we are returning to her old school in the fall.

Am I glad we did it? Yes! I always would have wondered otherwise and now we know. We will still be pulling her out of school some to travel in the fall, just not as much.

If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer the best I can! 🩷
