Pregnancy Update: Week 19

May 7, 2014 | family, fitness, pregnancy, running

Today is the big day! This morning I am headed off to my anatomy scan. We aren’t find out the gender until Saturday at the party, but I am looking to get a good report on baby M’s healthy from the scan. I am nervous/anxious/excited and don’t know how I am going to wait until Saturday to find out!

19weeks bump3

There is no doubt at this point that I am pregnant. I think that because for me it has been gradual it’s harder to tell, until I look at pictures from just a few short weeks ago. For example, check out this change in just five weeks!

14weeks bump19weeks bump3

Here is how I have been feeling this past week:

Symptoms: I’m doing pretty good actually! Still having some acne issues, peeing a lot, sleeping a lot, and round ligament pain when I run (ug!) but I really am blessed at this stage and can’t complain. I feel relatively normal most of the time, and am thankful. I did have a couple days this week where food seemed ick to me, but it passed quickly.

Baby’s Size: Some sources say mango, some say large tomato.

Maternity Clothes: I am SO SO thankful that my amazing and generous friend Jen sent me a HUGE box of maternity clothes this week. It is seriously such a huge blessing to have one less thing to have to buy right now.

Stretch Marks: I have one on my boob (nice, I know) but that’s it so far

Sleep: Still sleeping at least 9 hours a night, but haven’t really been napping so that’s good. Getting up at least once to pee, sometimes 2/3 times.

19weeks pool

Baby and I spent an hour at the pool yesterday. Nice to see my regular swimsuit still fits….sort of.

Miss anything?: Cinco de Mayo really had me craving a margarita this week!

Cravings: still having issues with a serious sweet tooth, but no “gotta have it now” cravings to speak of right now.

Aversions: Still just large amounts of thick dense food like a piece of steak or chicken. Can only eat a few bites.

Looking Forward to: my anatomy scan today and finding out the gender on Saturday!

What I’m Loving: That I look pregnant. What I’m NOT loving: strangers touching my belly or people saying “wow you look huge!” Thanks so much. What every woman wants to hear.

19 weeks

Workouts: Walked 5 days this week, ran once for 2.5 miles (run/walk). Made it to the gym once for weights. Not stellar, but at least I’m moving. Planning to do more strength work this next week. Also, I need to do more stretching!

QOTD: Did you find out the gender of your baby at the anatomy scan or some other way?

Thoughts on strangers touching women’s pregnant bellies?

    1. You look amazing!! I love all your bumpdates due to the amounts of perfect you and baby M are.
    2. I have NEVER touched a bump of someone I know, let alone a stranger. Unless they forced me, I feel like I am intruding them even.
    3. Happy gender scan day!!!

Heather, you are not big at all and those strangers don’t know anything. I really don’t know why strangers feel the need to touch a pregnant woman’s bump.

OH my goodness what an exciting day for you and Bobby!!! I can’t wait to hear what you’re having!!! I found out both times at my ultrasound! I couldn’t wait! 🙂 As far as strangers touching pregnant bellies…it’s kind of weird. I always ask before I touch. I hopefully asked you when I saw you at CCC!

I totally don’t mind friends doing it at all even without asking! But yes, you did ask!

Our anatomy scan is in ONE HOUR and we sure as hell will be finding out! I absolutely do not have the willpower to sit in the room and not demand the tech tell us lol! I could barely make to today! I’ve had one unsolicited belly rub from an adult (I’m a teacher so I give children a pass due to their youth) and it was annoying and terrible and awkward. No thanks. If you aren’t my immediate family or the Baby’s father, how about keep your hands to yourself. Good luck!

Such a happy and exciting day, Heather! I can’t wait to find out what you and Bobby are expecting!

As for the belly touching, I’ve never been pregnant, but with any of my friends that have been I never dared to touch their belly unless they suggested that I do so. To me, it seems like an invasion of personal space.

I don’t mind friends or family but strangers, wow so uncomfortable. I can’t even describe what it felt like, but it was not a good feeling.

I’ve never been pregnant so I don’t know how it feels to have a random person touch my belly…but the huge comments REALLY really irk me. I think they are incredibly rude. YAY for the anatomy scan! Can’t wait to find out with you guys on Saturday! I’m leaning towards girl! 🙂

I cannot imagine EVER touching a stranger’s belly! Even someone I know would be weird. It’s just not necessary unless the mommy-to-be invites you to do it or something. I really don’t understand what people are thinking sometimes.

Good luck at your anatomy scan!

I am so with you! I can’t stand people touching my belly!!! Hands off people. Someone told me the other day…….. “Wow, I haven’t seen you in a few weeks and you really blew up!” She didn’t mean it maliciously, but I was still not a huge fan of the wording. You look fabulous so you rock that bump!!

You look great! We didn’t find the gender out with baby #1 and won’t for future babies. The surprise of meeting our baby boy on this birth day was amazing! Though it will be absolutely amazing whether you find out the gender or not 🙂

I do think a gender reveal party sounds like a blast! Especially those cute cupcake or cake ideas with blue or pink on the inside… Pinterest has wayyy too many cute ideas for that.

I / we found out at all three times at our 20 week ultrasounds. I have no patience whatsoever on that issue. Boy/Girl/Boy for us respectively. You look great and good for you for continuing to get exercise during these months. So good for and baby! Excited to hear whether you get pink or blue… have fun with your friends and family finding out!

  22. Amy says

You look so cute – not huge at all! (I HATE that women say that to pregnant women – especially ones who have had kids themselves!)

I must have put off a “don’t touch” vibe because I NEVER had a stranger try to touch my bump. (Did have an awkward encounter with an ex-boyfriend but that’s totally different!)

  23. Christina says

    May 7, 2014 at 9:26 pm

You look amazing! Hope your baby got a clean bill of health today, and only 2.5 days until you find out =)

I never had any random people touching my belly when I was pregnant, but I got the huge comments all the time. Once some well-meaning stranger asked me if I had twins in there *eye roll* and I was asked a time or two if I was overdue when I wasn’t even full-term yet. YUCK! Yeah, it’s like people suddenly decide it’s okay to touch and comment on a pregnant woman’s body. Whyyyyyyyy?!!?

Can’t wait to hear all about your party!!
