Ready to Go

September 8, 2011 | Uncategorized

Hi everyone! I am finally back home after a crazy stressful few days away. A huge huge thanks again to those who are praying for us during this crazy time, continued prayers are greatly appreciated while things get sorted out. Sorry to be in the dark with yall about this, but for legal reasons I really just can’t talk about it right now. Hopefully one day.

Yesterday while Bobby was dealing with some things most of the day, I did my part, then went for a run in my favorite neighborhood then did 20 minutes on the elliptical at the hotel. Later that night we went out to dinner, walked around my favorite shops, and got some ice cream. I need ice cream like I need another 5k race shirt. Seriously.

Bobby got Oreo cookie crème filling with cookie dough, and I got cheesecake with graham cracker crust. YUM! It was so nice out we were able to sit on the benches and enjoy our dessert!

We settled in early and just relaxed and watched some TV. It was nice to just unwind before coming back home this morning. After a 3 hour drive, we are back in Business in the Montgomery household.

With all that being said, I must say I am READY TO GO ON VACATION! We leave in September, and have our dogs and house being taken care of while we are gone of course. After dealing with all this “stuff” we totally need a break.

I thought it would be fun to tell yall about our “plans” for this trip! (by the way I found the post I did last year outlining our fall trip to the Grand Floridian, HA!)

Well, some things are changing this year and some aren’t. Creatures of habit I tell ya! We are still staying at our beloved Grand Floridian in the main (concierge) building.

I can’t wait to eat all the yummy lounge food! Get in my belly!

We will be eating at some of my favorite places as well, like….

Whispering Canyon Cafe

Liberty Tree Tavern

Narcoossees

Yachtsman Steakhouse

and Citricos, among many others.

I am sure I have said this before, but besides the Grand Floridian, our favorite thing about Disney is all the yummy food. We love getting to go to some super nice or themed places we don’t get to eat at back home. Having a nice, long, relaxing meal is right up our alley! We enjoy the parks too of course, but we don’t have to go non stop from morning till night and make ourselves totally cranky and exhausted.

We love lounging at the pool, and running/working out, too.

We will also be attending Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party again! Boo to you parade, Hallowishes, and trick or treating in the Magic Kingdom!

Not to mention, the most exciting thing of all, is we will be sharing part of our trip with our great friends!

YAY! I. CAN’T. WAIT.

QOTD: What is your favorite thing to do on vacation? Is it all about the relaxing, the food, seeing somewhere new?

You have to take him! My husband had never gone as a child either and we finally went together for college graduation. While he doesn’t love it like I do, he does love the great customer service and quality dining so he continues to go back with me. We even got married there 🙂

How fun! We went last year in Oct. for MNSSHP and had a blast. I really wish we could go again this year for it, but we are trying out MVMCP instead. Which I’m still perfectly happy about. 🙂 I just really love the Fall season.

I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just o I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just okay.” Like, fine in a pinch… but never something I craved. 👀

But then this little picnic happened—just me, my girl, and a sweet treat we both loved enough to fight over the last bite. 😅

We’ve been trying to be more mindful with food choices lately (especially with summer travel coming up), and I grabbed these So Delicious treats at Kroger kind of on a whim. The new packaging caught my eye, but it was the taste that totally surprised us. Creamy. Indulgent. No weird aftertaste. And no, we’re not fully dairy-free—and we still loved them.

It’s one of those little swaps that doesn’t feel like giving anything up.

And that? That’s a win for both of us. ✨@So_Delicious

🚨 Homeschool decision!! If you have been aroun 🚨 Homeschool decision!!

If you have been around here since Christmas time, then you know we pulled Emma Kate out of her private school after the first semester and put her in a hybrid homeschool for the spring. The main reason being we wanted more absences than the school allowed.

What is a hybrid? In our case, she went to a school all day 3 days a week, and we taught her at home two days a week.

It seemed like the best of both worlds, not having absences count since we were also her teachers, being able to stay home some, sleep in, and travel.

Well, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For one, the school we sent her to ended up not being what we thought. We were told being absent wouldn’t be a problem, but it became clear very early on her teacher was not a fan and she was not kind or accommodating to Emma Kate. There’s a lot of other reasons we didn’t blown the school I won’t go into. (If you are local and considering hybrid feel free to dm me and I will share my concerns and grievances.)

Teaching your kid is hard. There were lots of tears and frustrations, and she got bored since Bobby and I also work from home/I’m not a stay at hoke mom. We couldn’t just sit with her all day and teach her with our crazy long hours owning two businesses.

It was tough to keep a schedule and while getting to travel a lot was great, she didn’t thrive on not having a routine and struggled with the randomness of everything.

She is also a very social only child who missed her friends and also wants to play sports for her school.

In the end while there were a lot of pros to hybrid homeschool, the cons outweighed them for us so we are returning to her old school in the fall.

Am I glad we did it? Yes! I always would have wondered otherwise and now we know. We will still be pulling her out of school some to travel in the fall, just not as much.

If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer the best I can! 🩷
