Disclosure: I was provided a hosted stay at Residence Inn Flamingo Crossings, however, all opinions are my own.
I consider myself as someone who is well versed in all things Disney. I was a travel agent for many years, and I have stayed in all the on property hotels as well as many off property. I know the parks like the back of my hand, and stay up to date on the latest news. You can imagine my surprise when I discovered that a new shopping, dining, and hotel complex was being built basically in Disney’s backyard. Flamingo Crossings is about a mile from the back gates, just a short ten to fifteen minutes from the parks depending on which one you are visiting. It is still very new and lots of things in the center are under construction, but the hotels have been there for around a year, and are super nice while also keeping budget in mind.
We stayed at Residence Inn Flamingo Crossings, and it was like no other Residence Inn I have ever seen! It was very upgraded and plush, and we loved our time there! Here are a few of my favorite things:
1.) Theming and overall decor: The outside of the hotel may remind you of a certain on property hotel that is very nice in it’s own right. We loved the exterior, as well as the inviting lobby with comfy chairs. It’s very well done and thought out!
2.) Pool: Emma Kate had a blast swimming one evening in the large pool. There were plenty of pool chairs and umbrellas, as well as towels available to guests. A fire pit and grills are also in the pool area as well.
3.) Spacious rooms: One thing we have learned that we really like when we travel is SPACE! While I do love staying on Disney property, the rooms are tiny unless you are shelling out money for a multi room villa. At Residence Inn Flamingo Crossings, the suites are huge and included a FULL kitchen including a large fridge which came in handy because we had a cake to put in it that never would have fit in a mini fridge!
4.) Proximity to Disney: I don’t like to waste my time on travel when on vacation, so I was pleasantly surprised to see just how close the hotel was to Disney property. We were to the parks in the same amount of time that we would had been if we were staying at on property hotels, and parking was FREE at Residence Inn Flamingo Crossings!
5.) Food options: We ate dinner poolside one night which was really nice and relaxing. The hotel also has a bar in the lobby. Emma Kate loved the included breakfast complete with Mickey waffles. I LOVED that they had cold brew coffee! Such a nice touch which was very much appreciated by my iced coffee loving self and something I have never seen at a hotel. I also love that restaurants are opening up all over Flamingo Crossings, so you can walk from the hotel to dinner. We had the opportunity to try Persimmon Hollow, and highly recommend it!
These are just a few reasons that we really enjoyed our stay, and now I have let you in on one of Disney’s best kept secrets. Let me know if you have any questions, and I hope you get to see Mickey real soon!
