runDisney Disneyland Paris Half Marathon Information

June 25, 2015 | blogging, Disney, fitness, runDisney, running

runDisney has finally released some information about the inaugural Disneyland Paris race! The press release hit my inbox this morning, and I immediately read through it as quickly as possible.

Disneyland Paris

This new race is going to be a three day affair including a 5k, half marathon, and kids races! There will also be a pasta party, and of course a health and fitness expo packed full with speakers, information, and vendors.

The race weekend will take place September 23-25, 2016, and packages for travel can be booked beginning October 6th 2015. (It appears individual registrations will go on sale at the beginning of January, 2016).

Based on some information on the website, it also appears there will be an all new challenge with this race! The adorable name is the “Castle to Chateau challenge”, and includes a special medal is you participate in the Disneyland Paris half as well as a half marathon at either Walt Disney World or Disneyland, in the same calendar year.

OK runDisney, you have piqued my interest yet again. How do you keep doing this to me? Now I must see the medals and want to run all the races! If I hear more information about the race I will be sure to share it with you. For now, you can see below for the official press release and calendar of events:

DLPR_castle_081414

The new Disneyland Paris Half Marathon Weekend will be a three-day race weekend that includes a variety of events for runners and fans to experience the theme parks like never before when it debuts in the City of Light on Sept. 23-25, 2016.

The inaugural race weekend in Paris will include fun kids’ races for children of all ages, a 5K course through Disneyland Paris and a scenic half-marathon course through two Disneyland Paris theme parks and the countryside villages that surround the Disney Parks.

In addition to the races, the Paris event, runDisney’s first at a Disney Park outside of the United States, will also offer several family-friendly events, including a pre-race Pasta Party the night before the half marathon where runners can “carb up’’ for the race. There will also be a runDisney Health and Fitness Expo throughout the weekend where runners pick up race packets, shop for the latest running apparel and technology and attend a speaker series involving leading industry experts.

While running through the theme parks and the countryside villages, runners will have the opportunity to meet beloved Disney characters and experience legendary Disney entertainment along the course. And commemorative medals await runners at the finish line.

Race packages go on sale on October 6, 2015.

“We could not be more excited about the upcoming runDisney event,’’ said Tom Wolber, President of Euro Disney S.A.S. “It will make Disneyland Paris the world’s third Disney destination to host this successful sporting series that offers a whole new running experience for the young and young-at-heart.’’

I’m so glad to found this, you have way more info than the official site. I was hoping they would have a 5k, but I couldn’t find that info. I might be ready for a Half by Sept next year, but….I am so doing this!! Paris was a bucket list to do. Paris Disney has recently bee added to my bucket list. AND I just started jogging in May, so a Disney run is on my bucket list now too! Prefect combo!

Yay! I’m from Belgium (above France 😉 ) and want to go to WDW so badly. Have read a lot about the runDisney races there and I’m so happy it’s coming over here. I only hoped for a 10K since I’m just starting to run and half a marathon is a looong way. But I’ve started a schedule for 10K a few days ago, so hopefully if this goes well, then afterwards may follow a half marathon schedule.

I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just o I used to think dairy-free desserts were “just okay.” Like, fine in a pinch… but never something I craved. 👀

But then this little picnic happened—just me, my girl, and a sweet treat we both loved enough to fight over the last bite. 😅

We’ve been trying to be more mindful with food choices lately (especially with summer travel coming up), and I grabbed these So Delicious treats at Kroger kind of on a whim. The new packaging caught my eye, but it was the taste that totally surprised us. Creamy. Indulgent. No weird aftertaste. And no, we’re not fully dairy-free—and we still loved them.

It’s one of those little swaps that doesn’t feel like giving anything up.

And that? That’s a win for both of us. ✨@So_Delicious

🚨 Homeschool decision!! If you have been aroun 🚨 Homeschool decision!!

If you have been around here since Christmas time, then you know we pulled Emma Kate out of her private school after the first semester and put her in a hybrid homeschool for the spring. The main reason being we wanted more absences than the school allowed.

What is a hybrid? In our case, she went to a school all day 3 days a week, and we taught her at home two days a week.

It seemed like the best of both worlds, not having absences count since we were also her teachers, being able to stay home some, sleep in, and travel.

Well, it wasn’t all rainbows and butterflies. For one, the school we sent her to ended up not being what we thought. We were told being absent wouldn’t be a problem, but it became clear very early on her teacher was not a fan and she was not kind or accommodating to Emma Kate. There’s a lot of other reasons we didn’t blown the school I won’t go into. (If you are local and considering hybrid feel free to dm me and I will share my concerns and grievances.)

Teaching your kid is hard. There were lots of tears and frustrations, and she got bored since Bobby and I also work from home/I’m not a stay at hoke mom. We couldn’t just sit with her all day and teach her with our crazy long hours owning two businesses.

It was tough to keep a schedule and while getting to travel a lot was great, she didn’t thrive on not having a routine and struggled with the randomness of everything.

She is also a very social only child who missed her friends and also wants to play sports for her school.

In the end while there were a lot of pros to hybrid homeschool, the cons outweighed them for us so we are returning to her old school in the fall.

Am I glad we did it? Yes! I always would have wondered otherwise and now we know. We will still be pulling her out of school some to travel in the fall, just not as much.

If you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments below and I will be happy to answer the best I can! 🩷
